I am renting points for a christmas family stay currently booked for a solid week at one resort. We have been on the waiting list (all 7 nights) @ BWV...

Currently, part of the week is available@ BW, but it would be in the middle of the week, leaving 2 days @ the beginning & 2 days @ the end so we would possibly have to move twice...

My renter is advising not to break up the week and stay where we are, hoping all days come up on the waitlist at once....::confused:

I have been under the impression that shorter waitlists (like 2 days) are more likely to be filled.:rolleyes1

Here is the main question: Do we really have very good chances of getting our waitlist filled all 7 days at one time? :confused3

My BIG problem is that I am not in charge of calling MS since I am a renter, not a DVC member, and I really have no right to ask the member to call more often and check for single day availability (which is what I would be doing, if I could)...:upsidedow

I would appreciate your advice...popcorn::

i think your renter gave good advice.

realistic , not even a snowball chance. [ we had a heck of a time,

@ blt & we're owners there. that was @ the 11mos window. ]

however , why didn't you rent from a bw owner in the begining?

that would have made it possible.

as for getting your owner to call. i don't think it would change
your odds. so if you are planning into the future using this owner,
i would wait for a better request. however, if something opened
up @ the begining or end, i would let the person know ahead of
time.

IMO, you should keep what you have and hope for the best. That's especially true if your stay includes NYE.

Christmas week is WDW's busiest week of the year. DVC resorts book very quickly. Unless you got on the wl at 11 months, it's not all all likely that your wl will come through for that week. My advice is to plan on staying where you have the reservation & hope for a good dusting of pixie dust.

If you take the 2 days that are/were available, the odds are very, very, very good that you will end up moving at least once and most likelytwice. Every time you change a waitlist, you go to the bottom of the list.

Hope it works out for you.

I agree with the others. "A bird in the hand" so to speak. December is going to be difficult at best and impossible at worst. Reality is probably somewhere closer to the impossible side than the difficult side.

No way would I give up a whole week for a stay that might mean you are moving twice in the middle.

I could not find a BWV who was renting enough pts. for our stay at the 11 month window...so I found a resort owner that I was comfortable with, and good references, etc....rather than risk my money...

I know we are @ a great resort, and it's Disney, right? There is magic everywhere...we will have a great time regardless of what resort we are at...just looking for something new...it will happen when the time is right!!!

It sounds like you go to Disney often and "know the ropes" so to speak. Have you stayed in rental DVC digs before? What size unit? If it's a studio or 2 bedroom, I think finding your waitlist filled will be a real crap shoot. If, however, you are on the waitlist for a 1 bedroom, I think I'd just stay on it and hope for Pixie dust!

Thanks for all the advice...it is just hard when you are new to something and second guessing what you have done...it is really nice to have the dis for helpful hints and supportive ideas...:wizard:

As others have advised, keep what you have and hope for the best. I am an owner at BWV and have been on the WL for 2 nights for months. I did not book at 11 months out, but I did book 9 months out and could not get what I wanted. I don't really expect my waitlist to come through, but you never know.

Enjoy your vacation. It will be great no matter where you stay!
