so I want to get an underwater camera for a trip to Hawaii. Will do snorkeling, surfing, swimming and dry land sightseeing as well.

I've looked at a few models and think I have narrowed it down to 3.
Olympus TG 860 - 16 megapixel wifi 5x optical zoom 4x digital zoom. $249
Olympus TG 4. - 16 mp, wifi and GPS, underwater HDR, 4x optical zoom, 3x digital zoom $379
Nikon Coolpix AW-130 - 16 mp, wifi, 5x optical zoom, 4x digital zoom $319

Any advice would be appreciated. If there's another model I should look at, let me know.

Thanks!

I bought the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS25 16.1 MP Tough Digital Camera with 8x Intelligent Zoom (Blue)" for just $140 on Amazon back in February. I didn't use it under water TOO much but used it for a lot of water activities. I was very impressed.

I have an Olympus TG 3 (previous version of TG 4). I've been very happy with it. It is indeed waterproof and takes great photos.

I'm a scuba diver and do underwater photography. I use a good old fashioned Sony Cyber-shot and a Sony underwater housing for it. That way I don't have to take two cameras when we travel, just take the camera out of the housing. While it doesn't take professional shots, it's pretty small, I just slip the wrist strap over my wrist and jump off the boat with no worries. I can swim with it hanging off my wrist and don't have to worry about lugging around a big rig. DH does underwater video and the lights on that puppy are so big he really has to be careful in a good current.

Checkout the Canon Powershot Waterproof. I have a D20 I bought a couple years ago and love it. I got it for a Disney cruise. Worked great on the cruise and in the pool. Taken some great underwater pictures of DD and her cousins and friends. Great on land too. I take it a lot of times now over my Canon s100 (not waterproof) so I don't have to carry both. Don't forget to get a float strap for it!

I am in packing mode for my upcoming trip and what I read was 'Underwear camera'

We purchased the Olympus 860 for Hawaii and really enjoyed using it. I'm trying to post pictures but its being stubborn. If you Im me I can send some.

Oh my goodness am I having trouble. Anyway, sorry for the huge pictures. Above is an underwater, close up and zoomed picture from the Olympus 860.

You're welcome. I'm not usually so computer challenged. :) Anyway, we really had fun with it. My son took hundreds of underwater pictures of fish, and he shot some video. It takes a bit to figure out how to transfer the pictures to the phone/ipad but after the first time it was pretty easy. We did it each night in the hotel and sent pictures to grandma. The zoom isn't as good as on our regular camera, but it was worth it for the underwater stuff and not having to always worry about it getting wet or sandy on the beach. Have fun!

I got the Fujifilm FinePix XP80 Waterproof camera before our trip to Cali a couple months ago and I love it! It takes great action shots (10x's photos in a row), which was important to us. I used it in the ocean and in the pool and never had an issue with it. I didn't take a lot of underwater photos, but here a a few that I took. The underwater one was actually taken by my son. The lighting is bad (overcast) and we didn't try any flash.

It is about $170 at Amazon, and a little more I believe at Costco.

I got the Olympus TG-4 yesterday and took the kids to the pool today to try it out. I think I'm in love. Quick shutter speed, no wait on taking more pictures and it takes great pictures.
