Hi, I've not made Tink or any fairy costumes. Yet.
However when best friend wanted to be Mary Poppins for Halloween a couple of years ago, I researched through websites for McCalls and Simplicity for their patterns and hunted for a similar style to what we were looking for. She wanted the outfit that Mary wore to the park just before the "Jolly Holiday" scene. I modified a jacket/skirt pattern with same basic lines and used tracing paper to add and adjust the pattern as necessary.
Of course, this was a little more involved than what you need since you should be able to find plenty of flowing type patterns through either of these sites and most of the patterns are available in your local fabric store. I do recommend these two pattern companies over the others because usually their patterns seem more accurate and simpler than some of the others.
As for more comfortable fabrics...just spend some time wondering your closest fabric store...my best local choice is Joann's just for the variety they carry. And they frequently offer coupons through the Sunday paper and a mailing list. Unless you are super familar with a particular site and specific fabrics, I don't recommend ordering fabric online...you just can't tell what it's going to feel like. Also go with an open mind, you might be surprised where you find the perfect fabric.
You can pm me if you want some really specific suggestions about patterns or types of fabrics.
Good luck! Jenn
