We will be iN WDW in October for MNSSHP and I was thinking that we might hop over to a resort to get dinner. It would have to be one close to MK and one that we would not have to get dressed up for as we will be in comfortable clothes for the park. Out of the following which would you vote for?

Kona Cafe'
Ohana
Artist Point
Whispering Canyon Cafe

:flower: Bumping :flower: for more suggestions. I have never done dinner at another resort before (other than the moderates I normally stay in) and I would really like to do this. I was thinking Jiko or Boma might be a possibility too...what do you think?

Had one of our best meals at DW this past June and Jiko's. Really enjoyed it and so did my 16 year old daughter.

I voted for WC. Particularly if you have kids, it's so much fun.

We did Kona - it was an easy trip to the MK and not crowded. Ohana was a ZOO before MNSSHP - people were waiting 15 minutes to get seated at 5:15 when we showed up at Kona and the line was all the way to the Kona podium for check in.

Artist's Point on your list has the best food. But the ferry isn't the easiest.

We enjoyed the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary on the Friday after Thanksgiving. I got an ADR by calling that AM, just because we couldn't get in to our first 3 choices, and it ended up being really good. Took the 2 monorails over from Epcot to Contemp and then the monorails back for Illuminations. My son thought the monorails going though were neat and also the "electric ice cubes" that the waitress gave us.

concouse steakhouse hidden treasure. :cheer2: best server to date at disney

I would have to vote for The Concourse Steakhouse, especially the chicken ceasar salad. :)

Not on your list but 1900 Park fare at the GF is a really nice character buffet, it was much less busy than Chef Mickey's, decent food, and the GF is a really easy commute to the magic kingdom.

I have done the parties two ways. One and early dinner at the Plaza Restaurant at MK and we were in Tomorrowland enjoying the party by 5:30. Second, we ate at the Grand Floridian Cafe, earliest ressie was 5:00 or so, with dinner and travel time, didn't get to party until 7:00 or so, there were already lines built up all over and we ended up not going on very much. Never again.

My advice would be to pick Artist Point on another night when you have the time to enjoy a nice meal like this. I've eaten at all of the restaurants you list and it's certainly the nicest in my opinion. (one of our not to be missed) and eat at the Plaza Restaurant early and be in the park. We made so much more use of our party time and had SUCH a nicer time at the party. The Plaza is very nice.

The "not have to get dressed up" part may pose a problem at some restaurants--the "signature" restaurants have a "dress code" that prohibits T'shirts. So if you are in T's at the MK (which many folks are), then Artist Point might be out. Of course, the code is rarely enforced, so you might get in anyway..
So on your list, that would just leave Kona.

Yup, that's really the determining factor for me in the poll. I would have voted for Artist Point (or Citricos, if it were one of the choices), but if you're going straight to dinner from the parks, then do Whispering Canyon.

Thanks for all of the replies!!!
I thought about dress code and wasn't sure at some of the places listed. Do many people wear park clothes in Ohana? What about Boma at AKL?

We ate at Ohana and Whispering Canyon on our trip in November 05--we loved both places for different reasons, but the food at Ohana was much better. Of all the restaurants we went to (non-signature dining places) we liked the food at Ohana the best. Also, Ohana is on the monorail which might make things easier.

Even with the recent changes, I'd say O'hana.

First of all this resort is absolutely gorgeous, if you're lucky you get a window seat. The food is out of this world, and if you time it right, you get to see wishes from your table. If not, there's the beach and the dock to admire the fireworks.

It is our first dinner reservation when we get to WDW in Jan. I am soooo looking forward to it.
