We are thinking of useing our points for a ski vacation in Colorado over Christmas this year. Has anyone done that? Any suggestions on the best places to stay? We've been to Keystone and liked it, but stayed in the lodge instead of a condo. The room was small, but the hotel is in a great location. Thought we might try a River Run condo, or maybe Beaver Creek or Vail area. Anyone know anything about Breckenridge? We're longing for that beautiful white Christmas experience. Just looking for suggestions! Thanks

Last year we stayed at the Trapp Family lodge in Vermont. It was a fun resort, but having to drive to the slopes everyday wasn't. We like the ski-in ski out places. Keystone and Beaver Creek has great bus service.

Sent my daughter to Breckenridge in Jan '02. She stayed at The Grand Timber Lodge. She really enjoyed it. It is a ski-in/-out location, with the base of the Snowflake lift right at the resort. Great bus service and the bus stop is right at the lodge (and it's free)

Now she doesn't want to go back to Vermont to ski, she has been spoiled by all that powder and warmer temps in Colorado.

We haven't used points to book a ski vacation yet (we're waiting on a match for Mardi Gras 2006 at the Marriott slopeside in Park City) but there are some resorts through II available in Utah. We've skiied both Colorado and Utah and while our favorite slopes have been Copper Mtn in Colorado, the convenience and powder of Utah can't be beat! You can fly into SLC and be on the slopes in about 45 minutes! There is also a resort you can trade into for Snowbird/Alta in Utah. Have relatives who had skiied there and say it's great. Also, in the past few years Utah's had more snow early in the season than Colorado!

Good luck!!

Beaver Creek is an awesome resort and I noticed St. James Place in one of the DVC brochure so I think you can trade into there. It's not right on the slope but it's a very short walk to the lift. Breckenridge is big so plenty of room to spread out. Keystone is nice but just too crowded.
Might consider Park City, Utah if you haven't been there. An easy 20-30 minute drive from Salt Lake City and no Continental Divide to climb. Marriott has two timeshares in Park City and I believe one is ski-in/ski-out.

We have skiied at Keystone, Breckenridge and Vail and we LOVE Breckenridge. (we like them all, but Breckenridge is our favorite) The slopes are great and accomodate all skiing types, but we also love the town. It is so quaint and wonderful! If you like to go out at night there are some really neat places to go and "chill out", and during the day there are some great shops! Good luck with your decision!!

River Run Condos are awesome! (My DS and I went down the pool slide one night Feb. when it was 16 degrees.)
