Entire family(14 people) going to disney in Feb 06. Instead of gifts for birthdays and holidays I am looking for ideas to promote our disney family trip. Would appreciate any suggestions.

How about Disney dollars? My kids get so excited every time they get more! :sunny: (And so do I :rolleyes1 )

Disney Dollars are a great idea, as they can spend them when the get to Disney
Also Disney-Information books: Disney For Kids by Kids is a great suggestion if you have any kids or teens going with you, as its full of useful information and fun to read. Travel books about Disney and Florida are usually fun to read, and easy to come by and helpful in the end.
Hope I was of som help,
Love,
merfsko

How about Disney CD's and DVD's (including the planning DVD for each family).
For kids, get them pencils, pens, binders, pencil cases, etc. with Disney characters for when school starts. That will get them in the Disney mood, all the way up to your trip.
For our family we have a paper counting chain that leads up to our trip attached to our railing. Each day the kids take off one loop and that's one day closer to our Dec/05 trip.

I've been doing this for our trip next month. I have found tons of stuff really cheap on www.disneydeals.com (which is essentially an e-bay store for Disney park discontinued merchandise). I have bought tote bags, wallets, hats, journals, stationary sets, shirts, beanies, throws, and lots more! I check at least once a week just to see what's there as the merchandise does change frequently.

Good luck!

I am making gift tins for everyone, I'm collecting big tins, like the popcorn tins at Christmas, cover with something-wrapping paper-disney theme, vacation, etc. and inside: matching t-shirts, a plush mickey, minnie, etc., coffee mug, key chain, disposable camera, sunglasses, sunscreen, guidebook and park hoppers. Im hoping this will be a big hit with everyone. I have found most of the stuff on sale at the disney store, just don't leave the receipt lying around for anyone to pick up and read--my dd11 did this....I said that's really old , I took that stuff back. :rotfl2: she hasn't mentioned it again-- :rotfl: have fun!!!!!!!!!!

I have two boys and I was thinking just like you. What I did was made them each "Disney Fun" piggy banks with their names on them. For example one of my sons named Trey so I wrote "Treys Disney Fund" on the side of the piggy. They sell the ceramic pigs at most craft stores ( I bought mine at AC Moore). The one I bought was $10 but it was pretty large (there were smaller sizes) for the words I just used a red sharpie and if you mess up it will wipe right off with a wet cloth. I have also given them as gifts, you can add stickers or make princess ones for girls. Everyone seems to love them. I also put disney dollars inside and my boys are so proud when they earn money (even change) to put in their banks. An added bonus the kids learn the value of working and saving, and when your on your trip I bet they will be less willing to spend their money (rather then our endless supply) on silly things and make wiser choices. Mine did.
Hope I could help, Melissa

Another idea is for xmas give each child a plain tee shirt and buy assorted craft item for them to make their own disney shirt for the trip. Things like fabric paints, iron on letters and disney pictures, fabric glitter, and sew on things for example. What I did was got all the shirts in one color (so they somewhat matched) and rolled each shirt up and tied it with a big red bow. In a basket (I already had) I put all the shirt decorating item in front with the rolled shirts standing in the back with name tags (just so we knew whos was whos). The kids and the DH thought it as great and, it gave us an activity to do together as a family on that long xmas school vacation.

Since you have such a large group, there are a few sellers on ebay that run mulitple dutch auctions for autograph books. You could buy them all at once and catch a break on shipping, plus I believe they're cheaper than at the park.

You could create and print out vouchers for a pressed penny book (redemable upon arrival) and give with a roll of quarters and a roll of [new] pennies.

If you have any budding photographers, you can give disposable cameras with an inexpensive album. You could tie in with the "make your own tshirt" with a design your own water bottle. Include a plain solid color sports bottle with each shirt and each person could decorate and LABEL their bottle. With all the water fountains at disney, you could wind up saving money in the long run!

I had another idea but its escaped me. I'll be back. :Pinkbounc
