Hello all, I was looking for some advice on an upcoming birthday trip for my grandma---she will be turning 87 in the world!!!! I have heard about "Birthday buttons" that people have worn at the parks. Are these just for children or can anyone get one? And where do you get them? My guess would be guest services. Also because of the walking distances at the world, we would probally be using a wheelchair or the like for part/most of our trip. Are these hard to get? Does anyone know if they can be reserved? I know at this point we are planning the ADR's for places she would like to eat and leaning toward getting the dinning plan for that reason. I hope to be able to plan out a really great trip for her, but I feel that because of her back/leg problems we are not going to do any of the coaster type rides. We were planning alot of shows and rides like small world, peterpan, ect. I also was thinking about a tour but not sure what maybe the best for her to do----anyone that has taken the tours please tell me if they are wheelchair friendly. Our tenative dates are Nov 1-? Please, any and all help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you---sp :thumbsup2

I can tell you about the birthday button. It's very easy to get....go to Town Hall which is on the left (if facing the castle) just after entering the MK just past the train station. The building says "Town Hall". Just ask anyone behind the counter for a birthday button and you will get a button and a phone call.....very cute. My DH got one last Dec for his 47th birthday :rotfl2: and every CM wished him a happy birthday. He took it off after an hour or so. Also if you are staying on site, when making your reservations make sure you tell them it is your grandma;s 87th birthday and the date. I mentioned this when making reservations for my DH and while we were at the MVMCP they brought a cake, candles and a signed birthday card from Peter pan to our room. I don't know if they do this all the time or if it was pixie dust, but it was so cute and he loved it.

There are lots of tips and ideas here on the dis about birthdays, you will get lots of info.

The Birthday buttons are available at Guest Services of each park.

I hope you don't think I'm being to nosey. Will you be staying at a Disney resort?

Anyone can get a Birthday Button and I'm guessing if Grandma is wearing one she's going to get LOTS of attention. :) Get them at Guest Services, or at City Hall when you're at Magic Kingdom.

Wheelchairs are plentiful. You shouldn't have a problem getting one, but I know there are companies you can rent them from if you want to reserve ahead. I don't think it should be necessary in November, but perhaps someone else knows better than I do.

Every tour I've taken at Disney lives up to the high standard you would expect. Keys to the Kingdom is fantastic, but I wonder if it might be a bit long for Grandma. The shorter World Showcase tour would (in my opinion) be a terrific choice. Not as long but just as interesting.

High Tea at the Grand Floridian is another good choice if you want something very elegant and truly special. It's just lovely. :)

Please let me know when you decide where you will be staying. I think I can have a pair of ears waiting for your Grandma when you check in. I'll need the name of your resort, the name your reservation is under, the date you will check in and Grandma's first name. ;)

We will be celebrating my 50th birthday on our trip.
like one of my tags says 50 scares me. maybe celebrating it at WDW will take some of the fear away. :thumbsup2 :teeth:
