So the new Security Check Stations on the West side are supposed to be open. Has anyone used them yes?, how was it?, wait time? And which location, the Mickey& Friends Structure, the ESPN Zone area, or did you use the GCH one next to Sephora? If so, were there restrictions on who could use it?

Looking for someone at the park, hopefully on a Smart Phone reading this....

Thanks in Advance.

What a shame. But at least I have lead time to choose different accommodations on our next trip.

Ditto. We're at the DLH for our April 2017 trip because we got a great rate but after that trip we might switch to offsite. None of us were big fans of GCH but loved the PPH--->GCH--->DL/DCA route.

We are staying at the PPH. We were directed to the security by DLH / Earl of Sandwich. No more entry for PPH guests to GC. Not many people yet. Smooth going through security.

Thanks so much for the info. How was the wait at the ESPN Zone, did it go smoothly?

If you are used to walking from Mickey and friends along Disney Way to the walkway under the monorail, I suspect that option is no longer available. We were there Tuesday morning and walked it using that route. The fence has been extended along that area and there were two gates at the walkway. They were open on Tuesday but I suspect they are now closed with the security moving to the parking garage.

I would guess that many people staying at PPH and DLH would like to have a meal at GCH. Would they be able to use their restaurant receipt to enter DTD or DCA. I am of the opinion that they should be able to do that.

It will be interesting to see how that goes.

Easy, not many guests going through. Lots of security tables open.

Do you know if security opens at a particular time? I usually stay at the GCH and am wondering for Magic Morning, can you go through security early and go right to the turnstiles, or will they still hold you back at the esplanade where the old security set up was, until like 20-30 minutes before the park opens. Like for a 7 am MM, many line up by 6 am- but were held at security - would you still be held back or can you go right to Disneyland gates.

The esplanade security is no more.

Leaving the Grand you exit through the walk way into DTD by the Sephora shop / Anna & Elsa's boutique.
It looked like only 2 security walk through a by that exit.

I'm not sure what time they open for MM. We got a late start at 7:15am. And went right through at Earl of Sandwich / DLH area.

We are staying at DLH and went through around 9:30 to grab breakfast from Sbucks. It took us two extra minutes at most.

I entered DTD at ESPN at 8:45 this am with no wait. At 11:00, both that entrance, as well as the one between Earl of Sandwich and the DLH were both practically empty.

Also, the security guard at the GCH entrance to DCA also said that soon that entrance would be for GCH guests only. I think this is only fair.....though I've always enjoyed using it while staying anywhere onsite, the waits were quite frustrating last month when we were guests at the GCH. The price tag of that hotel should ensure a smoother entry/exit from DCA.

Keep in mind...for PPH guests it will only add 800' of walking going through DTD vs cutting through GCH, but PPH guests (and others) can still EXIT through GCH even of they restrict entrance at those security check points to GCH guests and restaurant patrons. So you still have a shortcut back.

I stay equally ay both PPH and GCH and welcome the changes even as a PPH guest if it eliminates that security madness and backup that was at the esplanade and allows free flowing access to DTD.

So will people be able to use the GCH/DTD entrance to go into/out of the GCH from DTD? Even if we're not staying there we like Acorn Gifts and eating at Storytellers or having a drink at Hearthstone.

Any reports on security at Mickey and Friends? We're visiting Dec 26-31 and staying really close to Mickey and Friends. Trying to decide if we should go through the parking structure and use the tram or walk to DTD and use the entrance by ESPN.

I would love an update on if walking is still an option. When the kids fall asleep in the stroller after a long day the last thing I want to do is unload them, get on the tram, and then go wait in line for the elevator after all that. This might sway me heavily towards Toy Story parking if we can't walk anymore.

Did security at Mickey & friends right at 8 this morning...it took about 1 minute. There was one person in front of us. I took longer because my belt & Fitbit beeped, so I had to be wanded. But there was no back up from that. Very easy, and much nicer than it had been. When I left at 1 pm the lines going through security were about 2-3 people deep, so still not bad, and not very many of the security gates were even open.

I would think so....
