Looking for some (much needed) CRV speculation...

No one asked him about the construction. This was part of his spiel as he
made his stops pointing out landmarks and whatnot. Gave us the history of
RC, DI closings as well. :squirrel:

And on the ride from Epcot to MGM the "spiel" routinely has the monorial being extended through the Swan. That "spiel" has been going on since the Swan opened....

DIsney Transportation CMs are the worst at "rumors"

If the CR new building were to be DVC, would the point structure for rooms be announced prior to or at the same time as the beginning of sales? How was this handled with AKV. Did you know how many points you would need before deciding on how many to buy?

I still think Disney is holding out just to get their kicks reading threads like this one.:rotfl:

I think you are right. Much as I would love it to be DVC, have you ever tried to get a room at the Contemporary? They don't have any problems renting those rooms, even though the price is high.

On the other hand, they could be burning out their calculators figuring how much we would be willing to pay to own a piece of that Magic.;)

disfountainofyouth,
Which floor were they up to on your visit? Do you have a picture to share with us?

According to our guide, SSR is 92% sold. We just bought in not very long ago and we are waiting to add on until we hear about CRV. Add-on-itis is already starting! :rolleyes1 Friends of ours bought in at AKV and according to them, AKV is roughly 80% sold. Should be interesting!

That would only be for Jambo House. The Kidani Village at AKV is not being sold yet. Jambo House is only about 1/4 of the total villas at AKV.

But it makes you think... If Jambo is 80% sold and SSR is 90+% sold, then DVC could be without selling properties by year's end. Or is Kidani due to go up for sale by the end of the year? It's not due to open until Fall '09, right?

part will open in spring if not sooner - right now it looks like sooner - so maybe fall of this year at the rate that building is going up.

they will open first one half then the other half.

If they do announce CRV what type of points due you think they would be getting????
Just curious.

well bcv is the same as VWL - so probably not a lot more.

though at AKV would be more like ssr - but it is not.

now some of AKV is high - conceirge and savannah view - okay since most of the resort is sv it is higher

but it has some great deals too - standard and value.

If they do rebuild the treehouses to add to SSR, however, there would more to sell there. Plus, I'll bet they could whip up the treehouses before CRV is done.

Do you think? CRV looks to be about half done (assuming they go to 15/16 floors). They started building floors last Aug/Sep. At that rate, the structure will be erected by Sep/Oct. Does it really take another 12-18 months to finish the project?

Meanwhile, THV hasn't even had ground broken and you need to build 60 separate structures in a conservation area. (Isn't the plan to tear down the existing structures and rebuild them?) If SSR is due to sell out by Fall/Winter this year, do you think they'd have THV units ready for occupancy by then?

If not, then that would leave a 6 month gap or so with only AKV to sell. (Then it does depend when Kidani actually opens and is declared. Construction is going fast, but any delay and we're into the initially projected Spring '09 opening.)

I'm thinking by the time both are built, we'll have THV and CRV coming online about the same time. Then it could get very interesting with three property choices.

I though the one in Cal would be selling before they opened any of Kidani?

Have they ever bothered to finish that other building out at Pop? If the economy cools down, they could sit there with a exterior shell for years.

What about OKW? Aren't they currently, or soon to be, selling OKW 2057 contracts as well? That's another property that helps bridge the gap between SSR/AKV Jambo and AKV Kidani/CRV/GCV/THV,etc.

I thought I saw somewhere on the boards a while ago some discussion/speculation of that being one of the main reasons they decided to extend OKW.

Yeah, but isn't the decision to drop Pop based on the shift from hotel to DVC? I can see them slowing down a bit but not dropping a DVC project altogether. The timeshare business is a great deal for the hospitality industry. They get to build new rental properties with maintenance and building costs paid for my individual owners. Far less risk and all the gain.

Also, I can't imagine Disney would let a shell building sit so close to a signature theme park's field of vision. It would quickly become an eyesore hurting the on stage appearance. Unless they erect 16-story privacy barriers with giant "PARDON OUR DUST AS WE IMPROVE THE MAGIC" signs.princess:

Not with this one, too much of an eyesore.
