Looking for some budget-minded ideas

Hi Everyone

I am taking SO for his first "real" Disney trip in September...he only had one whirlwind day there last year and now we're going for the entire week. I'm trying to plan some surprises - both romantic and not so. I splurged and booked the Segway tour but am looking for some other ideas that wouldn't break the bank. I'm making certificates in a few different envelopes that he'll get at different times before the trip. (hard to explain) Plus I wanted to keep some things secret till we get there...the only other thing I thought of is the horse drawn carriage at Riverside.

Anyway - any ideas would be great. I've done WDW a million times and I'm trying to look at it all through a newbies eyes to think of things. Just fyi - will just be the two of us, both in our 30's and he's a junkie of "little-known" WDW secrets he's read about. We've planned our trip out completely so I'm sure he's thinking he knows everything we're doing so I'm hoping to throw a few pleasant surprises his way.

Thanks in advance :)

How about watching WISHES from the Poly or GF beach with a picnic dinner/snacks?

How about a character meal? Not exactly an "unusual" thing, but they are more fun than you realize! DH, who is not the huge WDW fan that I am, was commenting recently how much he enjoyed our dinner at Chef Mickey's last time. Could you afford to stay at AKL concierge level, maybe just for one night, and do the "Sunrise Safari"? Personally, I would love to try that. Or dinner in the California Grille at the top of CR, to watch Wishes? I think that the Segway tour is a great idea, but how about the KTTK tour.... especially if he is a WDW trivia fan. Go over to the THeme parks board and check out the "Your best WDW theme park secret" thread.... very long but loaded with good ideas and information. HTH...................P

How about a haircut at the barbershop in the MK? ...complete with "pixie dust" maybe? (They can put a little gel and colored sparkles in!)

...don't forget to ride up front with the conductor when going over to Epcot on the monorail!

I also love to put small change into the antique games and video-lodeons (I can't remember what they're actually called) that are located on the second floor of the Main Street train station...just before you get on the train. They are priceless and most of them are a penny. There's a football game two can play for a dime each (or maybe it's a quarter...lol, it's been a while...I'm going over today to do it again...thanks for helping me remember this treat!)

If he is a baseball fan, there is also an old fashioned baseball game that costs a dime on Main Street. If you are walking out of MK, I believe it is the second to last store on the right before you exit the park. It is tucked in a corner near a window.

We discovered this the second year we went and it has become a tradition on the last day that my daughter and I play a few times before we leave the MK.

Have a great trip!

There are many places to take quiet walks. Check out the resorts and walk around the grounds.

Also, go to DTD and take a seat. It is a great place to people watch and just take in the fact that you are on vacation together!

Take a boat from Contemporary to Fort Wilderness. We got a boat by ourselves the last time and Fort Wilderness was empty! (This was in April). We walked around and relaxed on the beach.

Hope you have a magical trip!
