We are staying at Coronado for the first time. Looking for nay advice you can give on which room/are may be the best bet.

I have 2 teens with me, but will pretty much on my own or with friends.

Any one familiar with this resort? Any advice in appreciated.

Thanks in advance

If you have two teens they will probably want to swim a fair bit so my suggestion is for the Cabanas. If you opt for the Cabanas you will be close to the Dig Site (where the themed pool is) but not too far from El Centro where the food court and restaurant is.
Cabanas 9A & 9B are about a 5-6 minute walk to El Centro.
I have pictures and a map on my website (see my signature)

Cabana 8A to be close to the Dig Site and bus stop #4
Cabana 9B to be close to El Centro and bus stop #1. Just a short walk across the bridge to the Dig Site.
Ranchos 7b to be close to the Dig Site and bus stop #1

and I realy like this resort. We want to stay there on our next visit. I hope ypu all have a great time.

we were there last june and stayed in Cabanas 8A. This is the closest building the Dig Site(main themed pool) and is also very close to bus stop #4 and the laundry facilty. about 5-10 minute walk up to the food court. we liked this resort.

I think I see a pattern forming. Cabanas seem to be the popular place.

Thanks for the links too, they are a great help.

Quick question - I know people like Cabanas but it looks like Casitas is also close to things. What is the main difference - anyone?

Cabanas are a different style than the casitas! The cabanas are more like the buildings at CBR, two stories, painted in tropical colors, and they have white sand beaches wiith hammocks.

The Casitas are three (or more) stories (I think( and are more "southwest" in style. They seem to look more formal....

Both cabanas and casitas are within a short walking distance to El Centro.... the walk is not at all overwhelming unless you have a physical problem that makes walking painful.

We stayed in Cabanas 8A I think... it was right near the bus stop as well as across from the Dig Site pool. It was an EXCELLENT location, and though it was only warm ONE day of that trip, I thoroughly enjoyed the hammock

Enjoy your trip!

Here is a map if you haven't seen it yet:

You can see how nicely located the Cabanas are for both the Dig Site and El Centro if you get into the right buildings.

I personally thought that the Casitas were kind of garish in interior decor while the Cabanas seem more attractive. We also ran into quite a few people lost in the Casitas like us ;) because they do tend to look alike and seem to run on forever. But you do get used to that! :)

We stayed in Casitas 5 and loved it. We were given a free upgrade to a lake view room and had wonderful views of the moon rising over the lake. We were VERY far away from El Centro, but the walk was enjoyable and CMs zipped by in little carts frequently - you can flag them down and get a ride. We were a ways away from the Dig Site too, but we didn't mind. We are both exercisers and did a couple walking laps around the lake every day anyway.

Cabanas were closer to the action, but I liked the southwest theme better than the beach theme. Cabanas looked a tad "tired" to me, probably because they are more popular and get more use.

The bus service was frequent and on-time. We really loved this resort and would not hesitate to stay again.
