Please post your thoughts/experiences there....is there a belly dancer? How long is the show? Is it at specific times? How is the food? The menu looks interesting... Thanks so much!

Melissa;)

I ate there in January 2005. We were tentitive about spices, ran into the "photo booth of our meals" CM, and decided it was something different to try.
The three of us got the Royal Feast for dinner, it gave us the opportunity to eat something of everything, and was my personal favorite meal at EPCOT. It wasn't spicy at all, just a nice blend of flavors with the meats and couscous. Not overpowering at all. Service was OK. Food was excellent.
The restaurant is tiered, with the "dance floor" on the lower level, with tables around it in a U shape, and a second set of tables on the upper level. There are really no bad seats unless you ask for a quiet table in the corner.
I don't know about a schedule for the belly dancer. She came out about 5 minutes after our appitizer, and finished halfway into our dinner, and didn't see her again. Great opportunity for audience participation; when we were their quite a few kids joined her at the end of her show and two adults during so she could teach them to belly dance. The dancer also came around to the tables as well to show off her talents.
If you want a good table, for the show I mean, I might suggest eating either earlier or later than the normal dinner rush. We were seated on the upper level.
I hope this helps some!

Hi Melissa,

We went to Restaurant Marrakesh during our December 2005 trip. We went a week before Christmas and were very fortunate that we made a reservation, since it was packed. The food was good. My mom had the Marrakesh Feast and my dad and I shared the Royal Feast. The food was delicious and well seasoned. The vegetables were a bit salty though. We especially loved the couscous. Our server packed up the left over baklava for us and we brought it back to Saratoga Springs.

The belly dancer was good and it was fun to see the people she brought up try to dance. I'm not quite sure how often she comes out to dance, we only sat for 15 minutes or so before she came out. I think she danced for 30 minutes or so. We were seated right by the dance floor, which was very cool. The music was good and the setting seemed authentic. Our server was very busy, it seemed as if they did not have enough help. However, all of them delivered food and refilled drinks promptly. We had a good time and would definitely return if it weren't for so many wonderful restaurants in the world showcase. :) :)

I hope this helps!

I went for the first time in 2004 and loved it, the food is very good and the band and belly dancer are great.
Here is some info from Steve Soares site:

Traditional Moroccan music and dance inside Restaurant Marrakesh.

Length of show: 25 minutes

This restaurant is excellent. We had the Royal feast and it was perfect.

If you like bland food with little or no spice, then Marrakesh is the place for you.

I had the Royal feast.
The Bastilla was good. My Lemon Chicken was ok but had to be sent back because it wasn't cooked through. It also appeared to have sat awhile, The Lemon flavor was barely noticeable. The lamb was good but then again, lamb is pretty flavorful even with nothing on it and very hard to ruin. The Bastilla was good as was the couscous and the Crepes Atlas. In fact, the Crepes Atlas was outstanding.
The DM had lemon chicken and hers had to be sent back also.
The DW had kabobs and hers had absolutely no spice on them and were dry as sawdust.
The DS had the burger and fries. I'm not even sure what the burger was made of. It was terrible. My son loves fries. He loves all kinds of them. Not these. I wouldn't even feed his stuff to my cat.

We ate here for the first time last September. We were a little hesitant at first about booking here but the CM said it was an excellent choice and he thought we would enjoy it. We both liked it very much...had the Royal Feast which was very good and gave us the chance to try a little bit of everything. The Crepes Atlas was the BEST! The belly dancer came out and danced throughout the restaurant and stopped to have her picture taken with people. It was a nice experience and would definitely go back again.

We ate there last August and Marrakesh was our stand out favorite. :thumbsup2

We just returned yesterday from our Disney trip and ate at Marrakesh 3 nights out of the 4 nights we were there. :) It's now our new favorite restaurant. We originally only had a reservation for the 2nd night but loved it so much that we made a reservation for every night. We were always seated within 5-10 mintues.
I had the vegetable couscous and it was soooo good. On top of the couscous were zucchini, carrots, squash, hominy, tomatoes and some cabbage I think. My mom had the chicken kebabs which came with rice and she loved it. The bread they give you is really good. We ate so much of it. YUM!
The servers were very friendly and by our 2nd night there, they knew us by name. Oh and the bellydancer and musicians are wonderful. I highly recommend eating at Marrakesh :thumbsup2

The belly danser comes out at regular intervals. I have never eaten there and not seen her at least once during our meal. The musicians play (quietly) the entire time.

We love Marrakesh. I like the beef brewats (app), shish kebob, and couscous (yum). I haven't ever had real Morrocan food, so I'm not sure how this comapres.

There was a belly dancer and she was very interactive with the tables, especially the kids. There were 12 of us in our group (6 kids and 6 adults) and all of us enjoyed the dancing.

The food was very good. We love Morrocan food, and this wasn't quite as amazing as the Morrocan restaurant we occasionally go to near home. But, it was still very good.

When we started planning out where we were going to eat on our trip for this June, this was the first restaurant that went on the list as a "must go to again."

Definitely give it a try - it's my favorite restaurant in WDW! I had the Moroccan Feast the last time we were there, and with a taste of many things, it was great! We went in mid-November, so it wasn't busy and our server was quite attentive. The only thing I'd skip next time is the Lemon Chicken - it was just OK, not really lemony enough, but the lentil soup, beef brewat, kebobs, couscous and baklava were delicious. :sunny:

We atre there last week - on the 8th. I cut and pasted from my didning report.....

Dinner tonight was a new one for us – Marrakesh.

I am a fairly adventurous eater but this one had me a bit nervous….

DH and I ended up ordering the Marrakesh Feast which came with the Harira soup, Beef Brewat Rolls, Lemon Chicken, Beef Shish Kebab, Couscous with Seven Vegetables, and pastries for dessert.

The soup was VERY good. It was a lentil, lamb soup – very thick and rich – almost reminded me of a more flavorful minestrone. The Beef brewat rolls were just plain gross – lol The beef was tasteless and I just could not get past the powdered sugar on a savory dish thing – lol. I took a bite to taste it and was done. The shish kebab was AMAZING. Full of flavor, cooked perfectly and the lemon chicken was also very good. I did not like the cous cous but the vegetables with it were very nice.

The assorted pastries were amazing. All 4 were variations of a baklava I believe – nice flaky pastry, some with nuts, some with honey – just all very nice! Overall this was a very surprising meal and we will DEFINITELY be back for this one!

One of our favorites.

One thing to know is that Morraccan food isn't spicy - they do tend to do a lot of sweet/savory (currents in couscous, the aforementioned beef brawat - beef in pastry with powdered sugar and cinnamon - which I love but a lot of people are turned off by). Couscous itself is a staple - and bland on the scale of buttered noodles! Seems like a lot of the disappointment here is from people who want curry or something spicier - unfortunately, there aren't alot of options at WDW for curry or spicier foods in general. The need a good Thai or Indian restaurant.

HelenK thanks for the timings on the belly dancer...at least I have a general idea...I really think we will check this out...sounds fun and would be something new...I agee with the last poster that a good indian restaurant would draw a good crowd...me included :goodvibes Thanks everyone for your reviews/comments!
