I'm more of a wine drinker, but my DH likes to drink mixed drinks on occasion. I must be getting old, because I don't really like them anymore. (Although, he's older than me. He just doesn't act like it. :rotfl: ) Anyway, when drinking alcoholic beverages, I get a full, blah kind of feeling. Does that make sense? Drinking them makes me thirsty. :confused3 I think it's probably because I don't like any type of sweetened drink. I drink diet or unsweetened in all beverages. Even the coveted Dole Whips & Iced Lemonade make me feel that way. I love desserts. I just don't want to drink them. :teeth: Does anyone have any suggestions for a mixed drink I can enjoy with my hubby that's actually refreshing, & doesn't make me more thirsty? TIA :)

Crystal Light comes in a ton of flavors to mix with something harder. My preference is their lemonade with vodka. :thumbsup2

equal parts, malibu, pineapple, oj and hawaiian punch

A nice cold beer, actually two, one for each hand. Alternate which hand you drink from and that makes for a good "mixed" drink. No?

I am not much of a drinker, but I like vodka with cranberry juice. It is kind of sour instead of sweet, well, it tastes like cranberry juice, LOL!

Lemon drop martini: just like drinking lemonade with a kick!

I never say no to a margarita on the rocks. :thumbsup2

not overly sweet, but i find it refreshing-a "smith and kerns". take kaluah, a bit of cream and mostly club soda-blend with crushed ice. it ends up tasting like a weak chocolate soda.

i find vodka and pineapple juice refreshing.

I actually like sweet drinks, lol, but if it's hot out and I want something refreshing I like Tom Collins or a frozen lemonade. The frozen lemonade is from Applebees and I think (not positive) the alcohol is Limon Bacardi, although it could be citrus vodka I suppose.

Thanks for the suggestions. :) I'll see what my DH can come up with. I've had a lemon martini. My DH loves them. The Crystal Light may work perfectly. My favorite martini is a choc./ van. martini. All of your suggestions sound good. Well, maybe not the mixed beer. :teeth: The gin & tonic is too strong for me. I'm a wimp. Other than that, I'll give them a try.

You need to check out The Webtender -- An On-Line bartender

I always get great ideas from here. :hyper:

I especially like the link/feature called "In My Bar" What you do is select the ingredients you have in your bar from this rather large list of ingredients. This list is created from all ingredients used in more than one or two drinks.

When you finish your selection, go to the bottom of the page and click the "Generate List of Drinks" button. The Webtender will then generate a list of all drinks possible to make from your selection of ingredients. If you click "Pick Random", one of the drinks you can make will be selected for you.
You can also set how accurate the match should be. The accuracy is measured in number of ingredients you miss to make a drink.

It's pretty cool because sometimes I've had a little of this and a little of that and I don't know what I could do with them but this little feature has mixed up some pretty tasty drinks from what I've thought was nothing. :thumbsup2

I've never heard of that site. I'm definitely adding it to my favorites. :thumbsup2 On the subject of beer, way back when we used to drink beer I was an Icehouse fan. :teeth:

Diet Coke and Bacardi coconut Island Breeze :sunny:

One of my favorite summer drinks is what is called around here a Bronx Cheer (don't know why), it is a shot of raspberry schnapps, pink lemonade and a shot of sprite.

I also like green apple margaritas. I make them with Green Apple schnapps. I am not a tequila fan so I substitute the tequila with the schnapps.

Pimms Cup - it's a light alcoholic liquor sort of tasting like tea - add to diet 7-Up. Garnish with a slice of cucumber, a slice of lemon and maybe a slice of orange. My FAVORITE.

Absolut Citron (lemon vodka) with Lemonade

rum with pineapple/orange juice

rum and Limeade

rum and just about any fruit juice combo

if you like 'em extra sweet - an Alabama Slammer (Southern Comfort, orange juice, sloe gin and I don't remember what else) just don't let my DH bartend for you or you'll end up on the floor after a few of these...

I'm more of a tart drink person - fruity frozen margaritas that aren't too sweet (some places add way too much sugar) with salt on the rim.
