so it's starting to look like I'll be arriving a day earlier than originally planned, and as such, that means that now I will need a room for a single night before I can check into my resort on my originally planned day.

So I figured I'd look for some advice on where to look, and possibly even where to book, for an inexpensive room. Here is some information which may help in figuring things out.

1. I'll be driving into the area, so location or transportation to the hotel isn't that big a concern. Daily parking fees at the place however would need to be factored in to my cost.

2. I'm looking for the night of October 6th.

3. I'll be traveling with an infant just a bit over 2mo old. We'll have a pack&play with us, but with the infant, and first time mother, it means that we may be a little more sensitive to some of the cleanliness/age issues of some of the older/cheaper hotels in the area.

Since it's only for a single night, I'm not too concerned about extras at the hotel/resort, and am pretty much just looking for a bed to sleep in and shower/bathroom for the morning. With prices for places running everywhere from $30 - $150 for different hotels/resorts, I'm really not even sure which area I should be looking in for the best deal (Universal Area? SeaWorld/Convention Center? Lake Buena Vista? 192?). So any help you guys can provide would be much appreciated! Thanks!

We just recently got back from a trip and also arrived to Orlando a day early. We stayed at the Seralago on West Irlo Bronson for one night. The cost was approximately $50 and it suited us fine. It is not fancy, it is a little dated, but it is clean. DD has asthma and we all have allergies. None of us had any problems with dust or mold, and trust me, I looked for it.

We have also stayed at Maingate Lakeside, also on West Irlo Bronson. It was recently renovated and is under new management. I haven't seen it since the reno but it looked okay even before. It was formerly a Best Western I believe. At any rate, they charge a $10 resort fee on top of the $50 room rate. Not a big difference either way you go.

I have felt safe enough at both locations that I would walk to and from the car by myself after dark, and that is saying a lot for me. Also, both locations seem to have decent reviews on hotels.com.

I personally really like the Hilton Orlando. If you are going to spend around 100 bucks then this has got to be one of your best bets.. 4 star, huge gym and pools ... but like you said you are not bothered about these features ...
I always find my Hotel deals on CheapTravelFish

I cannot post a working links as a new member but you can find over 150 hotels in Orlando if you search on cheaptravelfish dot com.

Im sure you will fine the best deals there and the site has plenty of photos and details,
good luck

I don't have a specific hotel recommendation, but I would suggest using Kayak as a tool for helping decide. Not only does it check the rates for hotels on about half a dozen online travel sites, but it integrates the hotel ratings from TripAdvisor, Frommers, and others. That makes it easy to search an area, sort by price, then skim through looking for a place that has surprisingly good ratings for the price.

what is the resort you will be staying at?

take it you are driving from Pa to Orlando?

do you care where the hotel is - or would you like closer to where you will be staying?

I wanted the same thing last year when I went to the Poly for 11 nights. Our flight arrived late and I did not want to pay $400 to arrive there at 10:00pm! I went to priceline and "named my own price". I typed in Lake Buena Vista, FL, then clicked on "Downtown Disney". I bid $45 and got the Best Western Lake Beuna Vista Resort on Hotel Blvd, Downstown Disney. We could see the Epcot fireworks from our balcony! (There is an $8 per night charge the resort will charge you for internet, pool and parking..$8 total, not for each..)

I read a bunch of aweful reviews on trip advisor once I found out the hotel I was awarded. I was scared, but long story short, none of it was true. The hotel was fantastic. Lots of amenities, pool, restaurants, gift shops, game room etc... Very clean and the rooms are enormous compared to Disney hotels!

Good luck with your search, just wanted to give you my experience!

I'll be staying at the Wyndham Bonnett Creek.

Yes, I'm driving from PA.

I honestly don't care too much where the hotel will be. I'm debating the possibility of hitting Citywalk on Saturday night when we arrive, in which case the infant would likely be getting babysat by it's grandparents who happen to be checking in at a onsite disney resort that same day.

I usually end up driving when i visit the area, so I'm not really one of those people who get intimidated driving around or going slightly off the usual tourist-y areas.

I'd just do priceline for 1 night... I usually do.....stayed at Holiday Inn resort in Lake buena vista and that was fine. Just choose downtown as your area and name your own price.

I just booked Hawthorne Suites for $103 (booked directly with them it started at $146 then just kept getting cheaper- mine was a costco rate I think but it worked for us) I hope it's ok. It seems to be closer to Universal actually.
