We are thinking about trying the QSDP this trip. What are some the best QS spots that have a fun atmosphere for the kids? It seemed like our QS meals were all burgers/fries and in a cafeteria setting. I'm looking for QS spots that have an atmosphere that the kids will enjoy. I'm looking for more places like Pizza Planet. TIA

If you're looking for mainly atmosphere, I have a few suggestions...

1) Cosmic Ray's, when you sit near Sonny Eclipse... without Sonny it would just be cafeteria-ish... but with Sonny, you've got dinner and a show! There's also some really good food options for the value on the DDP, especially for the adults - like chicken and ribs dinners.

2) Pinnochio Village Haus, sitting by the windows that overlook It's A Small World... you can wave to the people on the boats.

3) Casey's, where you can sit in "bleachers" and watch the giant TV, or eat outside with the piano guy.

4) Pizzafari, which has elaborately decorated themed rooms - check 'em all out.

5) Flame Tree BBQ, which has seating areas spread over a wide area on different levels - all outside, but some under small shelters (so it's not crowded and remains relatively quiet), and some near water... the ducks and other birds may be near, so it's great for animal lovers (but don't feed them or let them get too close to your food). Plus, they've got ribs - I love ribs!

I never really thought that much about the atmosphere at CS restaurants before... your question was one I enjoyed pondering. I'm sure some other people may have some other suggestions, and I'd be curious to find out what they are...

Pizzafari has themed rooms

Flame Tree has nice outdoor area with birds, water etc.

Cosmic Ray's has singing-not sure what the characters name is

Haven't eaten CS at DHS (Don't know how we manage, but we really haven't eaten CS at DHS-min of 3 days in DHS). I've heard that Toy Story Pizza Planet is okay and has an arcade.

Pizza Planet at DHS has the arcade area downstairs.

Perhaps Backlot Express while Jedi training is underway? Get a table as close to Star Tours as you can. The Studio Catering Co. is right next to the Honey I Shrunk the Kids adventure area so they could run around in that right after eating.

At Epcot, outside of Electric Umbrella to watch the fountain or maybe the Lotus Blossom while the Chinese acrobats are performing.

My kids loved all the CS places we went to on our last trip. They were 1 and 3 at the time. I'll list them, and I'll mention the ones we plan to go to again with them this summer (they will be 3 and 5 then).

1. Pizza Planet at DHS (going again)

2. Cosmic Ray's at MK (going again)

3. Tangierine Cafe in Morocco at Epcot (going again)

4. Flame Tree BBQ at AK (not going to AK this trip though, but we would go back if we were at AK again)

5. Pop Century food court (maybe we will go, but we are not staying there this time; my parents and sister are staying there so we may get a lunch in there, the food was great!)

Cosmic Ray's entertainer is Sonny Eclipse. It can be kind of hard to get a seat in his room, because lots of folks want to watch him.

my older kids (9 and 6) really enjoyed flame tree @ ak...walk down the path and have a great view for pictures and birds walking all around. they also liked casey corner old school hot dog feel and pecos bill for the all the condiments you can choose on your own, so i guess they are pretty easy :)

Magic Kingdom:

Pinocchio's Village Haus has some seating that overlooks the loading area of It's A Small World.

Cosmic Ray's has a variety of foods to choose from and there's the alien in the corner that plays songs.

Epcot:

Sunshine Seasons seating is inside of The Land pavilion where there are cool things hanging from the ceiling.

Animal Kingdom:

Pizzafari is the place to find hidden Mickeys on the painted murals.

Flame Tree has outdoor seating with some being down by the water.

Hollywood Studios:

Toy Story Pizza Planet....no explanation needed since you already know about it.

At the Magic Kingdom, my son loves Cosmic Ray's and Pinocchio's Village Haus. At Comic Ray's if you can get into the main dining area you can watch Sonny Eclipse. :) And my son loves to pretend *he's* an animatronic waving at people at it's a small world while we eat at PVH. :thumbsup2 (He gets that from his dad. ;))

I don't really feel like any of the CS at Epcot are really "fun," but if you were to ask my son where he likes to eat he would tell you the Yakitori House and Sunshine Seasons. He loves Japanese food so Yakitori House is right up his alley. And there are so many things to choose from at Sunshine Seasons, he never leaves hungry.

To be honest with you the last time we were at AK, Tusker House was still a CS and that was our favorite place to eat. We'll be there next month and we're thinking about trying Pizzafari or Flame Tree BBQ. The only concern I have about Flame Tree is that it is outdoors and I've heard the birds can be really nasty.

And as others have pointed out there is Toy Story Pizza Planet at the DHS.

We don't have a lot of experience with CS at resorts since we only go to CS for breakfast or a snack at whatever resort we are staying at. That said, my son loves breakfast at Capt. Cook's at the Poly. The Mara is also good and they have really cool murals painted on their wall. The only other CS we've been to is POR - River Mill. We enjoyed the River Mill and must have stopped there at least four times during that trip.

I know there is a thread somewhere that you can take a look at pictures of the restaurants. Maybe that would help you narrow down some places for your family. Also here's a link of pictures on allears.net - more pictures of restaurants. http://allears.net/din/gall_res.htm

Hope this helps! Have a great trip! :goodvibes

My kids really enjoyed Cosmic Ray's and Pizza Planet. We did Cosmic Ray's twice on our last trip.

MK: Cosmic Rays, Columbia Harbor House (they love to sit upstairs by a window and look down at all the people in Fantasyland). They also Village Haus so they can see the Small World boats.

Epcot: Love the cantina in Mexico with its riverside seating but thats closed. They enjoy eating outside by the little koi ponds at Yakitori House in Japan.

DHS: Love pizza planet probably the most. ABC Commissary with all its tv's they also like.

AK: Pizzafari is their favorite but they enjoy sitting down by the river at Flame Tree too.

Any and all of the moderate and value food courts. I love those too, we can all get what we want and the grab n go sections are great for fruit, desserts and yogurt. Those food courts are a huge reason we prefer value or mod over deluxe (well the price is the biggest reason of course).

Cosmic Ray's entertainer is Sonny Eclipse. It can be kind of hard to get a seat in his room, because lots of folks want to watch him.

It's pretty nice in that room...the one time we went there, we got there when Cosmic Ray's opened and we got a great table. By the time we left (less than an hour later), the place was so packed!!!!!!! Lucky for us our kids are used to eating lunch early! It was a very nice break from the heat and fun too.

another option for AK is the picnic if it is being offered when you are there... then you can choose where you want to eat :)
