I wanted to thank you all for giving me the idea to look for CMs who were great at their job to compliment at the end of our trip. I just started a new entry on the Notes app on my iPhone for taking down the names and home cities of any cast members who helped us out or were particularly good at their jobs in the parks.

On our last night there (Wednesday), I went to City Hall and wrote out guest compliments for all of them. I felt so good doing it, and it was a fun "game" for our family to look for CMs who were just rocking their jobs. Some went above and beyond the call of duty, and others (like our Surf's Up waiter) were just good at their job. I think sometimes those people are overlooked so I wanted to include him in our list. He kept our drinks filled, was friendly, kind, and didn't do anything out of the ordinary, but he made our breakfast nice and added to the experience. Another one I complimented was our Jungle Cruise tour guide. She was sassy and clever and cute. One of the better tour guides we've had on that ride in either park.

Since this forum gave me the idea to leave positive comments about CMs, I wanted to put this thread out there for any new members who maybe hadn't heard of doing this. I've been to WDW and DL several times and had never thought of this before this trip, so just wanted to mention it. Thanks for those of you who talked about doing this! What a neat way to show our appreciation for those CMs who make this the happiest place on earth.

Something I didn't know-- They ask you for a time frame of when you visited that particular shop/restaurant/attraction, and on one of them, I didn't have any clue. We visited Mad Hatter's at some point on the 20th (I think it was before lunch?) and I got the CM's name and home town, but I didn't have a clue when we were there. She was super helpful, and told my DH she didn't want to sell him the hat he bought because it wasn't high quality and she knew that they sold higher quality hats similar to that one at another shop in CA. I thought that was awesome, but I hope that they could narrow her down based on the info I gave. So in short, write down their name, their hometown, and the time of day you interacted with them.

I always forget to do this. I need to concentrate on taking notes on our next trip. They hear so many complaints, we really need to make an effort to send in the compliments.

The compliment doesn't always have to be for something that happened directly with you. It can be for something you observed, too. We saw a CM in the Main Street Photo Shop being harrassed by a group of guests -- venting at her, making ridiculous demands, insulting her, etc. -- and she was working hard to keep her cool and stay friendly. She'd helped us before in other shops on MS, so we knew that she wasn't the problem. After the other group left, we complimented her on sticking to her Disney training and told her we were heading right over to City Hall to leave a CM Compliment. Her tearful smile was really heartfelt. Those compliment cards are very appreciated.

These compliment cards can be filled out at any park? Are there specific locations for each park at DW, I would love to do this!

I left a compliment for the CM who was working a CS register. I saved my receipt and the person who wrote up the card asked to see it because it had the name and the time on it. If it's something like attractions I guess in addition to name and time they'd want position, like greeter or loader.

If you forget the name and hometown of the CM, a good description along with the time and location (e.g. "the CM with the long, red hair and glasses at DCA Chamber of Commerce around 1pm...") can be good enough.

If you don't get a chance to put in your compliment while you are at the parks, you can still do so using the online "contact us" link on the DL website. Usually, someone will get back to you about your comment.

I did the same thing on our last trip.
I asked to take their picture, so I have their name and city of the name badge.
Didn't know about needing the time. I'll keep that in mind for our next trip.
