I just love this site...you all are just great with advice...

Will need this for May 31 - June 3, 2005. Family of three looking for 3 day trip to WDW, will stay off site due to cost. I would like opinions of good clean inexpensive hotel, motel...oh, and of course close to WDW... :) I have looked at hotels.com and see alot of places, but just don't know if they are any good. Thank you all so... much!!

What would you prefer? Just a hotel room? Or a place with a fridge and maybe small kitchen?

I don't know what I would pick for a hotel room because we've only done 2 bedroom condos. But if you wanted a small kitchen, on hotelkingdom.com, Cypress Pointe has 1 bedoom villas for $69 a night plus tax. You could eat breakfast in.......even just cereal or bagels, no cooking really, and that would save you tons of money on top of what you are saving on the hotel. CP is very nice. Nice pools too! (one has three slides.........better than the pools at the values at WDW) I would jump at that one.

It's really close to DTD, I think maybe a mile. Very easy to get to the parks. We stayed in this area last fall and loved the location.

YOu would have more room than just a hotel room too. But it all depends on what you want. People on here have some good advice as far as hotels go. I just can't help out there, sorry.

Good luck! :flower:

My husband and I have stayed a few times at the Hampton Inn Maingate West; the last time in December 2004. While it was showing a little wear this time, we found it clean and quite adequate for the price, and the staff were friendly.

We usually pay around $50 a night for a room with two double beds, with a micro-fridge. It also includes free breakfast which is quite substantial (always some type of eggs and sausage, fresh fruit, yoghurt, as well as the typical bagels, muffins, donuts). In the evening, they serve fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies and cold milk but these were often gone if we got back after 9 pm.

We only had one slight problem last time we stayed. The A/C in our room was making a horribly loud noise every time the thermostat kicked on, much louder than the usual hotel room A/C units. There was definitely something wrong. We reported it first thing in the AM after a horrible night's sleep and they promised to look at it during the day. When we returned late that evening, nothing had been done, still had the same noise, no message that it had even been looked at.

They did offer to move us to another room, but it was late and we were tired and were checking out the next day, so we didn't bother.

If I needed to stay in the WDW area on a budget, I wouldn't hesitate to give them another try.

Oh, the location is also great because you can make a left turn out of the parking lot, avoiding 192, and take the back road to Animal Kingdom and be in the World Drive loop around WDW area in about 5-10 minutes. We found the location as convenient as it can be without being onsite.
