I wanted to shoot off an email to my guide, Linda Scolaro about my desire to purchase a sandwich, most specifically, a BLT. Anyone have her email addy?

Many thanks!

I was wondering if we could email our guides or if they were only available by phone. My guide is Bruce Douglas!

As guides' business cards do not have their e-mail addresses on them, I think that DVC does not guides using e-mail to communicate with their clients. However, if a guide were to give you their e-mail address directly (say, over the phone) on a case-by-case basis - that would be up their discretion.

Correct. Please do not post Cast Members emails, only the generic address, like Member Services or Member Satisfaction should be posted.

Oops, didn't realize. I've only needed my guide once, when we bought our original points. I've never had to contact her for any other reason.

I guess I'll give her a call. I thought it would be less time consuming for her to simply send an email.

Thanks everyone!

I know both of the guides mentioned in this thread. They know about DISboard and I have heard guides say they hate it when their names end up here.

And you can try to buy that sandwich, but it is not going to happen.

Boy, I didn't realize this was such a touchy subject. I bought my points back in early 2005 and haven't looked at info about my guide since then. I had no idea their email addresses weren't on their business cards.

I own a business and email my sales reps, customers, employees, attorneys, accountants, etc., and they email me with quick questions, comments about orders, requests for documents, etc. I conducted nearly an entire sale and closing of a piece of property I own out of the area through email - in fact, I've never even met the realtor. It didn't seem odd to me to think that the sales reps for disney would welcome emails from established members rather than have to return phone calls, especially in a situation where a return phone call is completely unnecessary.

I'm even more surprised to see they don't like to see their name come up in a place where they have the potential to make money. :confused3 That makes zero sense to me.

I am really not sure why the snarky response to my light-hearted comment about the sandwich, but que sera. We have a crazy summer ahead of us and I wanted to let her know that we definitely wanted points at the sandwich the minute they become available (if they become available) because we need the extra points to make future travel plans and to give her alternate contact info as we plan to be away quite a bit this summer - which is probably more information than anyone needed.

I promise never to say the name of my guide out loud or in print ever again and I will never attempt to purchase a sandwich via email in the future. I hope that makes everyone happy. ::yes::

I would take that with a grain of salt.

As for email communications in general, the problem is that you're dealing with a pretty sensitive issue (real estate purchase) and a large publicly-held company. One poorly-worded response to a sales question could easily become the basis for litigation.

I'm not implying that Guides would necessarily try to deceive customers. But when it comes to sensitive issues like resort availability or booking windows, an innocent (and accurate) comment like "you'll be able to get a room at BWV in May on 4-months notice" could come back to bite them later. While that information may be true today, who knows what will happen in another 10 or 20 years.

Your post made me smile!!:goodvibes

I am with you and didn't think anything about asking my guide to send me some info by email ... we live in Nebraska which is one of 2 states that does not allow timeshare sales which is making it a bit difficult to add some points to our ownership. We were speaking and my guide said that he would need to ask the legal department some questions and he would get back to me. I told him to take his time and call me when he had the answers or to just email me at his convenience ... he quickly replied that Disney only allowed guides to speak with owners in person or by phone to insure quality service. I didn't know that before and we have been owners for a while now.

Also loved you secret code for letting your guide know about your interest in a pssible new resort. There have been so many "coded conversations" written about on this board and I think yours was one of the most clever.

Have a great day! Jennie

I guess it is all because I work with these people and get to see what they "go through" with not being able to say anything at all about new developments. These people have a license and would lose it if they talked about something Disney has not announced yet. And about their names being mentioned online- they just never know who is saying what about them and what might get them into trouble. I'm touchy, yes. They are too. But I do love this forum because I get to see DVC through member's/Guest's eyes instead of on the inside. Quite enjoyable.

I don't see the point of contacting your guide until an announcement is made. It's not like only a few people will be able to buy and you need to get on a waiting list. You will not be able to use the points until construction is complete, which will be far into next year. You put them in an awkward situation because even if they know anything about it, they can't say.

It was my understanding, when the AKV first went on sale, DVCers were given developer points which could be used right away (which is what I need). I will be away for most of July in a location with no computer access and limited cell service. I wanted to give her the number where I could be reached if these points do become available.

We need to do an add-on. I prefer to buy at the Contemporary if it truly is going to be DVC. The rumor mill is saying July. I need points available for me to use in August, September the latest.

I am not asking my guide to divulge top secrets. I don't want anyone to lose their license. I didn't even want a response. All I simply wanted to do was say, "Hey, if the rumors are true, we will need three 100point contracts as soon as points become available as long as we will have points available to us in August, September the latest. If July comes and goes and the points aren't available, we will contact you to do an add-on at another resort. If they do become available, call us at: xyz." It didn't even occur to me that my guide would even respond.

I can't imagine any salesperson in the world who wouldn't want that note sitting in their inbox.

In any event, the question has been asked and answered. This is really the first time I've ever asked a question and received so many unpleasant responses. Not all of us are as DVC savvy as others. I do think there is a much more pleasant and polite way to respond to someone who is asking an innocent question than the way it's been done here. That's all. :confused3

That's actually not true.

The initial offer to current members was "Founding Member" status at AKV along with $8 or 10 off per point. IIRC, the only thing this Founding Member status granted was a promise of being noted an a tapestry to be hung in the resort lobby.

It wasn't until a month or so later when sales went public that Developer's Points were offered. A couple months after that it was DOUBLE Developer's Points.

In other words, the incentives kept getting BETTER over time. I've heard more than a few members comment that these increasing incentives coupled the tapestry being misrepresented & mismanaged by DVC has made them leery of being an early buyer again.

Of course that may or may not have any bearing on the progression followed for the next new resort. Seems like a crapshoot. :)

There is absolutely nothing wrong in what you wanted to do, other than that we request that the CM emails not be posted here. What I would suggest is that you simply call your guide, and if she/he is not available, leave the info in their voicemail. The other posters are correct that guides can not confirm anything that has not been announced, and that guides are discouraged from doing any business via email.

As the OPs question has been answered, and this thread is veering off topic, I'm going to go ahead and close this thread.
