Looking for info about a Building Design career

I am looking into changing my career path and moving into Building Design and would ultimately like to work for an Architect. Can anyone give me any information or insights into what the job would actually entail; what does a typical day look like? Are you actually involved in the design process or do you just get stuck with all the mundane parts?
