Looking for ideas...

I work at an elementary school and work the after school program. Starting in Dec. I will be doing a photography class for 4th and 5th graders. I am looking for some ideas...websites...and basic lessons.
If you have any ideas feel free to share.

how about a day in the life of lesson ( ie follow someone for a day and photograph their "life")
portraits of pets?
a family portrait?
photos of a favorite item from an odd angle or macro, not the usual view of it or maybe a series of unusual angles that together would show the whole object but might not allow one to realize what it is without the whole

This class will be using disposable one time cameras. It will most likely not be digital. I am thinking more on the lines of just taking a good photo. Think of how kids take pictures...real far away...basically teach them good composition.

I'm thinking of doing a couple of weeks of lessons..then they will each get there own camera ...they can take pictures. I will get the film developed...we can critique them and of course display their work.

I just found out today I am doing this so I am kind of lost right now!

I remember 4th and 5th grade. Those were fun years. You had the basics (reading, basic math) out of the way and now you could really start learning all sorts of stuff about the world. My passion at the time was math. If I were learning photography at that age, I'd want to know how to calculate hyperfocal distances, fields of view, and cool stuff like that. The actual artistic side of photography would have been of little interest to me at that age. It was all about the numbers.
