Hi all,

I'm usually hanging out on the family board, but someone suggested I ask this here. We're in Oregon, so we fly to Disney, but for those of you who drive (from anywhere), if you know of a great place to stop and stretch legs, eat, stay, etc, maybe you wouldn't mind sharing the wealth?

I started a brand new website for parent reviews of stops along freeways for families, and would love some info on places on the way to Disney. It's http://www.pitstopsforkids.com if you want to check it out. I hope it can eventually be a resource for lots of families. (This is not a business site...just a fun community site.) Hope it's ok to post this here. (Mods, let me know if not.)

When travelling through Atlanta, one must visit the Varsity restaurant, 61 North Ave NW. Exit at Mile 250. To say they serve burgers and chili dogs is unfair. It's indescribable. Free parking, even though it's downtown Atlanta.

Thanks Squirrel! That's exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for! I'll write up a review, and either credit you if you want to give me a first name, or credit the DIS Transportation board in general. That way the board gets some extra attention too. :goodvibes

When I was a kid in the 80s my family would drive down to Disney from the Toronto area I believe taking I-75. We decided to stop for a fast food dinner while driving through Kentucky and we all voted for Kentucky Fried Chicken since it seemed appropriate and pulled off on the next exit that indicated it had a KFC. We just happened to be in Corbin, Kentucky and after about a 5-10 minute drive from the freeway (which was annoying my father the driver who wanted the quickest possible stop) we found out that we accidentally had stopped at the original Kentucky Fried Chicken. There is a little museum there and it was kinda neat and free. It is definately one of my strongest memories of our drives down to Florida as a kid. My friend (whose husband worked at KFC through college) went there in I think 2003 so I believe it still exists

We drove from Wisconsin last year and on the way home stopped at Dinosaur World. We went to the one in Cave City, KY but there is one in Plant City, FL and in Glen Rose, TX so people from many areas may pass one. They have life size dinos. along paths in the woods, fossil dig area, playground, museum, playground and picnic areas. We loved it...it was cool to stand next to life size dinos! Anyway...dinoworld.net is the website.:)
