We are going to DC and S/W for a couple of days prior to a WDW land/sea cruise vacation. We have WDW resort reservations as part of the package but need a place to stay for the DC and S/W days. Something with a good pool would be nice for our 9 y/o.

Have only stayed on Disney property before so we are unfamiliar with the general Orlando area.

Any suggestions.

Right across the street is the Renaissance Orlando Resort. They have a few pools of different sizes. It's a very short walk to Sea World although you have to cross a 4 lane highway and walk through the Sea World parking lot.

We stayed there last March for a few days. I do have to say that it was more of a "conference" style of hotel, but it was beautiful and there are often good deals to be had there from expedia and Priceline.

there is a Hilton Grand vacation club - across the other street.
www.hgvc.com

there is also a hilton hotel behind the renaissance.

there is a Sheraton World (I think) - the reviews of this place aren't the best.

the HGVC is on the same (very, very big) block that Discovery Cove is located.

In July 2004 we stayed at Residence Inn Seaworld, about 2 miles from Seaworld I think. We got a one bedroom suite, large bedroom with two queen beds, living room with pull out sofa, and full kitchen. We got our best price by calling the hotel directly, $114 per night. They also have studios, don't remember the price for them. One pool, but it was a good size, lots of people, no slides. Full American breakfast is free, and it would get busy, but I just took mine to our room. The cleanest hotel I have ever stayed at. I can't remember if they have shuttles or not. Hope this helps, and I wish I could go with you! :wave2:

Speaking of the Renaissance Hotel there's a really good deal at easyclicktravel.com where the average price is $89 and you stay 5 days you get 1 free on certain dates.

They're one of the 'Off the Record' Hotels which usually are the best deal.

Here's the description on easyclick

'Welcome to this hotel, where an exquisitely balanced stay enlivens the senses and creates special memories. Whether you`re joining us for business, vacation or a planned event, here is where you can expect the extraordinary. The hotel is the closest resort to the Orlando Orange County Convention Center; located just 15 minutes from most major theme parks. 18-hole championship golf course - Directly across from SeaWorld & adjacent to Discovery Cove! **Renovations taking place will be from Monday - Friday until completion. The Resort Pool area and Restaurant will not be available to guests from Jul 16 - tba. Guests will be able to utilize the JW marriott and RI Sea World Pools 1/2 mile away with transportation. **Sept 14, 2004, New Terrace and Fountain area opens. **October 26, 2004, Entire project will be completed with the opening of the Function Lawn, The Tennis courts, basketball, volleyball and children's areas will also reopen.'

I third the suggestion for Renaissance Resort at Seaworld. You can walk across the street to get the seaworld and the hotel is wonderful.

I booked this on www.hotelmartUSA.com for $90 a night including tax over Easter. They bill the entire amount right away, but you can cancel for a full refund up to 3 days before check-in.
