So here's what I'm thinking of doing, but figured I'd pick the brains around here for ideas on how to actually pull this off.

For MNSSHP we were planning on dressing our baby in one of the Winnie the Pooh outfits that we picked up at the Disney Store. To help "plus" the costume for MNSSHP, I had the brilliant idea to someone disguise or wrap his car-seat which sits in his stroller as a Honey pot (Seriously... how awesome to see a honey pot, with Pooh laying in it? :goodvibes ). The problem I'm having is trying to figure out how to easily do this without interfering with car seat's operation or ability to lock into the stroller. As a secondary concern... how to easily transport whatever we come up with to Disney. I'm driving, so have a bit more room, but with a stroller, bags, and misc baby stuff I don't want to worry too much about trunk space or risking damaging the prop on the trip down. Here's kind of how the idea has evolved.

1. Original Idea: Use one of the plastic "Witch's Cauldrons" you can buy as we approach Halloween, cut it to fit around the car seat in the stroller, and paint it "Hunny pot" colors.

2. Modified idea: Use the above Cauldron as more of a pattern, then maybe use something like a wire hanger or some other shape holding medium as a framework. IE. Shape the wire to the outside of the cauldron, and then stick in inside a cloth honey pot designed wrapper. The wire would act as ribs which would allow us to collapse the prop for travel, and then unfold/expand it around the car-seat easily when we are ready for it and give it the distinctive shape.

The problem i'm having is trying to figure out if the "wire rib" idea would be practical, and how to attach it or keep it open? Maybe a styrofoam collar i can put around the top when deployed? or maybe there is another solution to the problem I haven't even thought about yet.....

Sooooooooo....

Arts and Craft types.... any ideas? suggestions? input? Anything at all? I really don't have a ton of experience trying to create something like this, so all the help I can get the better. :rotfl:

hmmmm.... No suggestions huh? drat....

Awesome idea. If I were doing it, I think I would simplify the concept to go for an abstract 'honey pot' look by sitting 'Winnie' on a 'hunnypot'-looking blanket in the carseat/stroller. It would give the effect that the seat is a hunny pot, even w/o the rigid shape of a deep, round pot.

For the blanket, I'd find (or cut from fabric) a large dark brown fleece square, say 5ftx5ft. Then, sew or glue to the center a square-yard (or so) of gold fleece (or felt material, both available from a fabric.on-line store) that is cut in an whimsical, curvy-manner around the edges to look like a circle with oozing 'hunny' edges. Also cut out large 'hunny pot' letters from additional gold fabric and glue/sew them to the center along the lower edge of one side of the blanket. (Could print-out & use free Pooh font found on-line as a stencil: http://www.fonts101.com/fonts/view/Handwriting/18610/Pooh) (Could also use fabric paint for the letters.)

When the blanket is laid over the car seat, set the edge with lettering below Winnie's feet, so it can be easily read, and set Winnie in the center of the 'hunny' area where it looks like he's in the center of it all. The concave-nature of the seat will make the 'oozing' edges of the honey spill over the sides. (You'll probably have to fiddle with the sizing and location of the glued-on items to get it to work just right with the seat size, but it shouldn't take long.) The blanket can just hang over the edges, or be gathered underneath for a cleaner look.

I hope my description isn't too confusing w/o a visual of it. Although this probably wasn't the kind of design you were looking for, it would fit the bill for all your preferences: cover the car seat, very portable, doesn't require alot to make (and also be useful if 'Winnie' gets cold later in the evening.) Hopefully, one or two ideas can help. Have a great trip! :)

COOL.... Thanks for the font.

Finally went for a supply run last week. Here's what we got and the idea behind it.

We got a large wooden quilting/sewing hoop. The inner ring actually fits snug around the stroller between the back of the stroller and the "kids cup-holder" section. This will create a nice "rim" for the honeypot around the stroller.

We then bought some brownish-yellow fabric, and some brown fabric for the pot. I'll probably make the top of the pot the brownish color, with the yellowish color for the pot itself. I can then use scraps/extra fabric from the brown rim fabric to make the letters.

I also bought some pipe cleaners which I figure I can use to help shape the pot by putting inside the fabric.

I'll likely make the pot as more of a skirt around the hoop on the stroller, using the pipe cleaners for some shape, and then either a draw string or elastic around the bottom of the skirt to help pull it in around the stroller.

How about pool noodles to help shape? You could cut it length wise so you'd have to two half domes that you could wrap around the stroller?

Funny thing.... While we were out shopping for supplies and trying to figure out how to do this, His mom came up with the same idea.

:) you'd be surprised how often pool noodles are the answer to many craft questions! Post pics of the final project!

Thought I'd share the almost completed project pic. I managed to throw it together yesterday, and here's a picture I took when it put it on the stroller to see how it looked.

i'll probably get a pool noodle or something once I get to florida to try and add the shape to the middle under the lettering.
