So here's the deal. Our last trips was this past December and for various reasons (of which I won't go into here) it was not it's usual magical self. We are returning in October over our anniversary and I'm trying to come up with some surprises (things we've never done before) for DH. Two things I have already planned is tea at GF and a fireworks cruise. Got any other good ideas? I looked at some of the behind the scenes tours but they seem awfully pricey. Do you think they're worth the money? Any and all ideas are appreciated. I just want to make this a wonderful trip.

That's an idea but we did that 3 years ago for our 25th. Anyone else have any ideas?

Duh! considering my signature you'd think I'd have thought of that by now. Maybe with champagne? What a great idea.

Some of these things I have done and some are just on my wish list. I wouldn't call any of them "show stoppers" but nice things to enhance your trip:

-- Poly torch lighting

- Beach/Yacht Club -- I believe they have a "garden" tour each day, possibly in mid-afternoon. It's a walking tour of the grounds around the resorts. (free)

- If you enjoy the Grand Floridian , sign up for the guided tour of this spectacular resort. It isn't publicized very much, so you may get your own private, customized tour. It takes you to the exclusive concierge level, got to go aboard the resort's exclusive yacht, , among lots of other things. Check with Guest Services for reservations, as the tour may not be offered every day during your visit. (Note that the tour is *not* restricted to GF resort guests - anyone can take it, but you do need to call for a reservation.

--Take the tour of the Wilderness Lodge, offered once in the morning, and once in the afternoon. The guide will point out many interesting things about the construction of the lodge and its exterior. There is also a "Smokehouse Tour ".

--The Flag Ceremony is held at 5:00 pm in the Town Square at the Magic Kingdom . Special note: If you are a veteran inquire about assisting in the Flag Lowering Ceremony at City Hall.

-- AKL free tour was M-F at 3:30 and led by a man from South Africa.

Good luck and enjoy
Sandy

My husband and I did the behind the scenes tour at Magic Kingdom during our January trip. We loved learning some of the "secrets" to the magic. I can't remeber exactly how much we paid for the tour but we both felt it to be well worth the money. It did include lunch too. Anne was our tour guide and she was awesome. We would highly recommend this tour if you are looking for something different. We also had fun playing mini-golf on our "non park" day. On a previous trip we went and saw La Nouba and it was amazing!! Dawn

How about renting water mice or a pontoon boat.It was definetly something that my DH and I both really enjoyed.
