You just want a music player? Does it have to be a real ipod or any MP3 player will do? Do you have a smartphone, because it's essentially an ipod, too.

I bought my DD 5 an IPod last Xmas off the Apple refurb site. 16g for around $100. It has been perfect for her. Would do it all over again. Came in a nice Apple box like new.

We are buying a refurbished Ipod from the local Game Stop on Friday. We are paying $59 for a 16 gig. It is one of the older iterations, but its intended use is simply for music/books in the car.

If being new is not a requirement... many times cowboom.com has some cheap prices on used ones. You can select the ones by what kind of shape they are in and what accessories they have or are missing.

If you are ok with a 4 gen. I would go through Apple and get a refurb. they come with a warrenty; otherwise, watch Target when they have their gc deals. You may not be paying less but you can use the Target gc to get $ off a Disney gc.

I would not suggest Craigslist or buying one used with out a warrenty of some sort.

One of my DD got a 32g cheaper through Apple than what the other DD paid for a 16g at Target (even with the gc).
