Happy birthday to your DD! It flies by doesn't it!
Glad you put up a ticker!

Did you see my ticker???

Well, my good news for today is that I grabbed some airfare at Spirit airlines for $154.80 for each of us including taxes and everything!!! My Mom and I couldn’t believe it! We have been calling and surfing the web :surfweb: for awhile now and prices we were quoted were ridiculous!! BUT today this great fare came up and we took it!
So….
I finally have a ticker! :cool1: We will be flying into Ft. Meyers and staying in Naples but for the first 3 days we are thinking about driving to and staying in WDW for my 40th! I would need a room June 2, 3 and 4th and then we would just drive back to Naples. Anyone know how long the drive is from Ft Meyers to Orlando?? Anyone know if there are any promotions out there for that time? I am already excited! Just the thought of being in a sunny, hot, climate makes me very happy!:goodvibes
Thanks for listening!
Debbie

My in laws are like that too, Debbie. They would always plan things like maybe a week ahead of time...me and my family always planned out at least a month ahead or more because me and my one sister lived 4 hrs away (she used to live in other places-her DH is military). I never wanted them to be mad at me, but then after a few years...they just weren't respecting me or my family and I don't really care if they do anymore. My parents never made me or Jim feel like we had to choose between them or his parents..they understood. When my parents died they didn't attend the funeral (ok..it was 4 hrs away), but they didn't send flowers to the funeral home OR even a card! :sad2: That spoke volumes to me. We talk and get along, but I now know how they really are. You can't always please everyone..and if they get mad at you..they'll get over it. When my SIL would call for last minute parties I'd always say..I can't we have plans, if you really want us to attend you have to call a few weeks ahead. I used the same line 5 times in a row (even I wanted to go) finally she got the hint. Now they give more notice. I'd just say that..if it becomes an issue. Good Luck!! Like your ticker ::yes::

Thanks for your opinion Pam..I was looking forward to it!
I love ya man!

Debbie, I was so excited when I saw your ticker! I thought we might get to meet! But, we get in the evening of the 4th, and you are leaving the 4th! Glad you have a ticker, anyway:yay: It's funny how all of us are just missing each other!

It is hard to do all of the family stuff on holidays. We were always trying to go here and there all on the same day when the kids were little - once they got to be teens, I started having dinners here and whomever wanted to come could - or whomever invited us first is where we went. Now my boys are grown and my oldest is pretty assertive about choosing one place to be - its hard for me, but best for his family, and he's fair. My youngest is still trying to please everyone - his wife's family is a pain, and she doesn't know how to stand up to them, and then they spend some part of the day with us because that's where they'd rather be.

As for planning - yesterday I got Rainforest Cafe ressies for our arrival night - 8pm. We get in to MCO at 4:30 - my sis at 3:30. We have to get to the resort and check in. Then my DH and I have to get over to SOG and purchase our park hoppers, then come back to DTD. I'm guessing 8 pm will be enough time. We will have a long day! We drive 90 min. to the airport we are leaving from, and then fly out at 6am. I think we may spend the night first. Oh boy, More planning!!!

My DSIS and her DD and I all ordered matching pink disney crocs to wear while we are there! :cutie:

Ok, thanks for listening! Have a wonderful Saturday everyone!

Thanks for your input MagicFor2(super cool Grandma).....

Cool! I want those Crocs now too but WOW are they pricey! Of course I want the Mickey ones for me and DD!

I WILL be there the day & night of the 4th (if it all gets planned the way I am hoping). That's my actual 40th birthday:scared1: . We will then leave on the 5th.

Someone informed me that those few days I will get to be in WDW (if it all works out) would be GAY DAYS in Orlando. Not that there's anything wrong with that but I don't want the parks to be packed the only two whole days I'm there! I am bummed. I will have to research more.

Hi, Ya'll......if I were back in Penna. it would be Hi, Yous. :) It's so beautiful here today. I'm glad you got your trip booked, Debbie. I'm sure you're excited and can't wait to go! Did you ever figure out the Dining Plan thing? If so would you mind letting me know so I don't give out wrong info to people.?

Dd3.5 is sick today. It came out of nowhere. Yesterday around 5pm she started to cough some..no cold, no runny nose, no fever. Then this a.m. she woke with a fever around 102 and is still coughing. Gave her some Advil which wore off and when it did her face is so red. Usually the cheeks get rosy, but her whole face was pretty rosy. Kind of worries me. I guess we'll see what happens tomorrow...I'm puzzled by the coughing though..she doesn't have a cold? :confused3 And she already had the Flu in the late Fall. We didn't get our Flu shots this either.

Tammie...sounds like your first day is pretty packed full. I'm sure once you get to WDW and sip on a Daquiri or Margarita or your drink of choice..you will all wind down from your busy day and enjoy!!!! Your grandkids are going to love Rainforest Cafe. Make sure to take them to Goofy's Candy Company after!! Those Banana slushies are awesome.

Pam...:lmao: about "hi you's". It's so true around here!

Debbie..congrats on your ticker. What a great way to spend your 40th birthday.

Jaclyn...your MIL sounds a lot like my FIL. He justs says whatever comes to his mind..usually something rude, of course! He is always saying these things in front of my kids, too. The funny part is, he is super sensitive and he can't take any criticism.

Sewer...I totally relate to your comment about stress around the holidays. I always let myself get too stressed out and it seems like I wind up making the same mistakes every holiday. It is so frustrating!

Hi Tamie:wave2:

I think we are going back to WDW in Oct for a few days for MNSSHP. I am going to start planning soon, so hopefully I can have a ticker again!

I have a funny story to share. A few nights ago, my younger DD was on the floor getting ready to crawl away. My older DD said, "Grace will depart momentarily." Think she's been in WDW much lately:rotfl:

Have a great night everyone!

I still stay "Where are yous going?" Sometimes. When I moved to VA everyone got a kick of my northern accent or slang (i.e. "dippy eggs"). Now when I go back to PA as soon as "Ya'll" comes out of my mouth everyone looks at me funny too. I guess I have a northern/southern accent.

Cute, story! You have a smart girl with a great memory!! She just may be CEO of Disney someday!

My DSIS found the crocs at www.taylorshoes.com - a little cheaper. Yes, it is Gay week ending on the 3rd. I looked it up on the Orlando Chamber website. I'm not sure how it will affect the crowds. I have seen that except for Memorial Weekend, it is not high crowd time until the middle of June. :crowded:

Cute story, Maureen!

Pam: sorry your DD is sick pixiedust: hope she feels better real soon! I didn't know the candy store had slushies! I was thinking about caramel apples today! We love to get a couple to cut up and share for a bedtime snack!:cutie:

Does anyone ever stress about their own birthdays? Mine is April 3rd so I have Easter and my birthday that I am worried about. I don't want a big fiasco for my b-day. Just my parents, sisters, and nephews. So then I have to have another party for myself for the in-laws. It's great that they care about me but I don't need a big party for my b-day. I get weird when everyone watches me open presents. And I don't want the extra stress of having another party, more to cook, more to clean. I will be stressed about this until it is over. :sad2:
Happy belated b-day to Hannah!party:
Happy belated ticker day, Debbie!:cool1:

Tammie - I am probably doing DTD the first night we are there, too. It was that, Chef Mickey's, or Beaches & Cream. How much time do you usually spend at DTD? I was thinking maybe I should save it for a different day. We wouldn't get there until 6:00pm or later.
Maureen - Your dd is hooked. She'll be on these boards before you know it. I just saw a t-shirt that said "Please stay clear of the doors" and on the back it said it in Spanish. I thought that was so cute.
Pam - Sorry your DD is sick. Hope it goes away quickly. One of those one day things. It rarely works out that way though.
Goofy's Candy Co. sounds so yummy right now. We haven't been to DTD in 10 years so we have a lot of catching up to do.
Debbie - Sorry you're stressing. At least we are all in a similar situation. Your DH sounds like he tries to keep you happy though. That's great.

Not so much with mine, but everyone else! I usually mix up the dates, which becomes very interesting! :scared1:

We usually spend the first evening - maybe a couple of hours - in DTD. It gives us the flavor of Disney and gets us excited to be there without going to the parks. They have that great Disney store, the Christmas Store, and the Lego store for the kids. We don't really do Pleasure Island - we are "good kids." :) You need reservations for Rainforest Cafe, or almost any sit down place there, we found. the # for Rainforest is 407-827-8500. Happy Planning!:thumbsup2

I was just thinking about the last time my DH and I were at Rainforest by ourselves. We were seated at a small table in front of a large aquarium. It had a bunch of "Nemo" fish in it. We kept being visited by small children, squealing with delight and watching NEMO!!!!:rotfl2:

Tammie: Oh..yes!!! Goofy's has slushies and they are very good. (I'm not a slushy person, but I love the flavors). You can "Design a Cup" there and choose from Mickey, Princess, Stitch, Goofy, Minnie, etc. and you can get refills for cheaper. Last summer we got the Big Oreo (wasn't good..the middle isn't the same) and the chocolate covered marshmallows dipped in chocolate w/ oreo crumbs. The center was a Mickey crazy straw.

DD is a little better today. Her fever is just starting to break, but she is hacking up a storm..poor kiddo. Thanks for the well wishes.

Lisa: You MUST go to DTD!!! They have some fun things for your kids to do...I don't want to spoil it for you..you'll just have to go and find out! Don't forget to go to Goofy's Candy Co. There's pictures of it on the DIS somewhere.

Birthdays...we don't really stress over them..just our DD's birthdays. Pretty much we may call and wish a friend or relative a Happy Birthday, but that's it. My DH's birthday is April 3rd too!

Hello to Sewer, Debbie, Maureen, and every one else!!! Hope you all changed your clocks!!
