Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too........

... I, of course, just want a guarantee from him that it will be ok - which he, of course, can't do - hence - my anxiety!

I'll pick up a little pixiedust: tomorrow and send to you! But I do agree with everyone else, the mortgage guy is just doing his job and can't "guarantee" but I'm sure it will be fine!

...being alone in the house with a stranger (though mmmmm just imagine he could be a George Clooney type....:goodvibes)

(oooooooooo I felt quite financially aware then - really I just watched a current affairs program on the tv last week...:goodvibes)

I was laughing sooo hard! Tessa, you're on a roll today! :lmao: I'm thinking Matthew McConnaughy or Johnny Depp - I told DH that if either of them ever show up at the door, all bets are off! :rotfl: Needless to say, DH said he'll take his chances :confused3

Kara -- you're leaving, like, TOMORROW !!! Have an awesome weekend, and share your P&PP experience with us, please...pirate: princess:

Yes! I'm realy excited! :cheer2: I went shopping last night for some new black jeans (couldn't find any that fit right!) so I just got some black khakis to wear to P&PP, and of course I'll also take black capris and black shorts - hey, a woman needs options!!!! I'm just not sure of the weather Saturday night so luckily we're driving and I can pack for a week (even though it's only 2 nights!).

One more thing, I hired a clutter cleaning service to help me with my issues. Do you think that I am being silly?

I think it's brilliant, Debbie! I wish DH would do that for the garage! He can't organize anything and then ends up bugging me to come help him! Like I don't have enough to do on my own! I'm curious to hear how it goes!

We have actually been planning this chaperone Disney trip since DD was younger ..... Hard to believe that time is finally here and she DID the try-outs last Saturday and NOW we wait...I think I'm more nervous than she is to find out if she made it. We should know a little before Spring break so that's about a month away....I'm also now trying to figure out how to possibly afford DVC since they *should* be eventually, possibly, maybe announcing the Contemporary -- I'm hoping to convince DH with a trip to the mall that has the Doorway to Dreams store so he can SEE what a 2-bedroom would be like. Winning the lottery would help on that front. ;).....Then the other part is my 2 older boys have IEP's at school (Individual Education Plans) and those meetings are coming up.

Becky - I think it sounds like you have a plan! Sending a :goodvibes your way!

I'm right there with you on DVC - DH and I have "almost" purchased twice before but we can't seem to pull the trigger. The first time was 10 years ago at Boardwalk, and to think that it would be paid off by now just makes us sick! Why didn't we do it??? Maybe I'll just give DH a nudge this weekend, we have lots of extra time this trip. No better time to sign our life away!!! :rotfl:

What is "Doorway to Dreans?"

My DD also has those darn IEP meetings for speech. I absolutely HATE her school down here and the people I have to meet with are just plain evil! OK, time for a quick (hopefully!) vent from Kara. Y'all know about the time that DD's teacher called because she was out of lunch money. Well, one of the reasons I was already so mad at her school is that when they pull her out for speech therapy, they do it twice a week during resource time. Resources down here are once a day and it is a rotating schedule of music, PE, art, library, computers and something else that I can't think of. So instead of getting excited about speech therapy, like she did in kindergarten at our old school, she is upset because "I don't get to go to.... (PE, art, music.....) - I HAVE to go to speech." I discussed this with her speech teacher, the district speech pathologist, her counselor, and her teacher, and they looked at me like I had two heads!!! In fact, the district speech pathologist got quite an attitude like I was being too demanding. Is it too much to ask that my child be allowed to "fit in" instead of being singled out for speech class? And why does she need to miss the "fun" classes that she has each week? I told them I'd rather she missed recess and they said that the state mandates that children must have recess and can't miss it. But it's okay to miss PE? Or art? Or music? Or going to the library? Someone has their priorities a bit skewed, I'd say! OK, sorry bout that, just needed to vent!

I just got off work on March 14 to chaperone my DD's 1st grade field trip and then she told me she doesn't want me to go! :confused3 What's up with that??? Oh, more fuel for my fire about the "great Florida schools" - her 1st grade field trip is to the movies to see Horton Hears a Who!!! Even though it does look cute, that is the only field trip this semester???? At her old school in SC (49th in the US, btw) they went to a woodland preserve, a live performance of the Little Mermaid at the performing arts center downtown, and to Chimney Rock park in the mountains. And who knows what else they are doing this semester? Just seems like FL is a little too big for their britches and needs to refocus on their schools. OK, there I go again!

Furthermore, since I'm doing such a good job of ranting and raving this morning, I am about 2 tantrums away from hiring a cleaning lady for the house! DH does not understand that I WORK from home, not STAY at home. I'm sick of him coming home, plopping on the couch with remote in hand, and not getting up until bedtime! Even if he does cook dinner, he leaves a huge mess behind for me to clean up! This house is larger than our last one, and I had a cleaning lady come every other week then. His argument is that I worked back then - well I work now!!!!!! I don't even mind cleaning the bathrooms once a week. But the vacuuming is crazy! And having 2 dogs means I really need to do it more than once a week but I just can't get to it! Besides, when would I have time for the DIS?????

One more thing, I made my lgmh for my bag, and I've been carrying it around this week (yes, my bag for the park is already packed!!!!) and a couple of people have asked, "what is disboards?" Someone on the Creative Disigns thread made a cute lgmh with karajeboo on it and I printed, cut out and laminated to hang from my bag. DH will DIE if someone approaches him while he's holding it! :rotfl2:

OK, that's it for now! I'll check in with y'all before I go tomorrow! Have a great Thursday!

Too all who are MIA - where are you???

Becky - I think it sounds like you have a plan! Sending a :goodvibes your way!

What is "Doorway to Dreans?"

My DD also has those darn IEP meetings for speech.

This not having my e-mail notifications is driving me NUTS!!! I know if I'm patient they will start showing back up again but they make my life easier!

The Doorway to Dreams is a store at Woodfield Mall here. It has a full-scale (at least I think it's full-scale) replica of a 2-bedroom at the AKL you can go tour, then you can buy into DVC right there & then. It's not super close to my house but close enough that I could easily make the trip whenever. I ended up there not too long ago on a whim (which don't *EVER* let your cell phone quit working -- my parents called the police on me since they hadn't heard from me since lunch & they were watching the little guy!). The power of the Disney draw won that round, so I went to check it out, talked to a DVC guide person (but it was a bit embarassing as they keep track of everything -- they knew I requested information back in 2003 and it was noted in my file at the time that I wasn't interested because DH had just lost his job! He had been laid off right after I requested the info. I had no idea they would still have all that in their files!!!! -- The Mouse is Watching is all I can say! ;) ). Came home and DH put the kabosh on that. Boo Hoo!!! HOWEVER, I *know* I *always* get what I really want -- eventually (I just have to work on him & convince him it's a good idea). I did tell him though if the Contemporary rumors ever turn out to be true & they announce it, I don't care what he says, we are buying in. :lmao: Yes, it's my control nature (just ask DH -- he tells me I have control issues :confused3  ).

Sorry to hear about your DD with speech. That stinks that they always pull her out of the fun classes. I have no idea what my DS gets pulled out of but I know it's not the fun things or if it is it varies. Mine gets speech, OT and resource class? but sometimes the resource teacher goes into the classroom. I always forget, I'm just happy I'm not driving them to it anymore. He had it in Kindergarten and we only have 1/2 day here. We set it up so that he could go in a little before Kindergarten class started, etc... Basically just a lot of extra driving/time. My 4 year old also gets speech. It's a walk-in basis, so again I drive him over to the preschool for an hour every week. He doesn't go to preschool though (mostly because he wasn't potty trained before school started this year). He's an October baby, so I get an extra year of him before he goes off to Kindergarten, so it works. He started speech last year but we knew he really didn't have a choice. His issues are articulation -- let's see who was he home to learn to speak with? Hmmm...his older brother who is in speech for articulation problems. So, he unfortunately learned things incorrectly just by default.

Sorry to hear that the only field trip is the movie. We don't have a lot of field trips but I know one of the 1st grade ones is a trip to the Pumpkin Patch. I don't think our school would ever go to the movies as a field trip unless it was a special, special one. I know they did go see Polar Express in 3-D one year but that was only my DD so it was a 1 time deal and I can't remember the grade (older than 1st).

Becky - you have just added MORE fuel to my fire! I forgot that DD went to the pumpkin patch this year too, at her old school before we moved! And DD saw Polar Express at her new school right before Christmas. Is that all they do here is call a trip the the movies a field trip??? OK, just had to let that out. Deeeeep breath, Kara!

Ally's speech is also articulation. She has pretty much mastered the s's now but the r's are a bigger problem. And what really stinks is that she knows she has trouble and it frustrates her.

Doorway to Dreams sounds awesome! I'm going to google it right now and see if there is one any place nearby. I think if DH actually talked to someone about it or took the tour, it would be all over - then we'd be DVC owners! I'm like you. I always "win" but I like to think that it's his decision! :rotfl2: Men!

Sorry -- didn't mean to add more fuel to the fire. I believe they told us R's are developmental until around age 8 as it's the hardest one to get, so if they aren't already in speech and only had R problems, they wouldn't even look at them until after they were 8 years old.

I think there is only 1 Doorway to Dreams store, so unless you are up for a trip to Chicago area it won't happen BUT I do know you can get tours while you are at Disney World ;)

Too funny !!!! That is exactly what happened to DH on our last trip in Oct. :lmao: I had attached a lgmh to the video camera fanny pack that DH carries in the parks. While standing in the shade waiting for us near the TTA entrance, some woman came up to him, smiled and said hello and gave him a Home Depot lgmh with her DISboard name on it and walked away into the crowd... He was so confused :confused3. He had no clue what just happened, but figured it had something to do with "my Internet Disney friends." :rolleyes1

Oh, I DO hope that happens! My DH would probably think that someone was trying to "pick him up." :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Oh, I'd get a good laught out of that !

Wow! You girls are a chatty bunch! I have been busy fighting off sickness again for the family  Yesterday, DDIL had a horrific headache, and DS was down with a bad cold. I was trying to deal with the kids and trying to clean around everyone and their endless JUNK! Sometimes I get so frustrated. I think part of the sickness is because of the messes that are left everywhere  I love having the babies here, but sometimes.... I am really going to have to talk to them when they get better. They promised it wouldn't be like this... on the other hand, they have been sick for 6 weeks, so I guess that's why. Bad MOM!

Today, she ended up at the hospital with a high fever - they did a spinal tap and gave her morphine for her headache, but it didn't really go away. She was diagnosed with influenza :scared1: DH had a flu shot and DS and DGS got some tamoflu, but me and the baby are SOL. I have been cleaning and disinfecting all day with the windows open.

Now the baby is screaming cuz she wants her mama, won't take the bottle, and breast milk is not allowed until tomorrow morning. They won't let us help with her, and I really think I was doing pretty well until DS came back from the store and took her. :guilty:

Kara! You are getting really close. I hope you have fun with the LGMH! :goodvibes I'm sorry the schools aren't good for you down there.

Tessa! 36 sleeps!!! :dance3:

Debbie, I think it's great to get help with the clutter! Sometimes we just can't get rid of stuff cuz we think we might need it and be sorry - I can relate. I have boxes of papers to go through in my office before I do my taxes

As for niknaks and stuff, my DH goes through and gets rid of stuff while I'm out of town - so we don't end up with a whole lot of clutter. It comes from being military and having weight limits when we moved.

Well, hi to everyone! Sorry I had to rant tonight - wish me lots of pixie dust so I don't get sick!

KARA I hope I didn't miss telling you to have a GREAT trip!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We will be thinking about you!

Everyone else I will touch base with you guys after the clutter guy leaves! Today I didn't get to the computer to read here so Iwill catch up tomorrow. Sorry. Had a long, busy nerve racking day so I will tell ya about it tomorrow.
Good night!

Kara - Have a great trip! Did I mention already how jealous I am? It is 10degrees here this morning and we'll be getting more snow tonite; so soak up some extra sun for me, please!:beach:

Tammie - So sorry you're dealing with all that sickness - Yuck! Sounds like you could open your own hospital ward. Stay healthy!pixiedust:

I'm being invaded by out-of-town family this weekend. First arrivals are tonite; rest of the gang tomorrow. My baby turns 12 next week, so this is the start of the month long celebration! If I don't get back on later today, have a great weekend everybody!

Tammie - First of all, rant away - did you see my last big post??? :scared1: I vented like crazy!!! I will not complain about FL schools, I will not complain about FL schools, I will not complain about FL schools.... There, I feel better! :rotfl:

I am so sorry that you have the creepy crud in your house now! I hope everyone feels better and that the baby doesn't get it! How old is your DGD? Scary that DDIL had to go to the hospital! Is everything okay now? I understand your frustration with JUNK - DD is nearly 7 and I just can't convince her to put her junk away at night!!! Yesterday, the new pup (5 months old now!) chewed up her Amazing Allyson doll that Santa brought her 2 Christmas's ago - I think that may have convinced her!!! I know she's sad, but I'm glad something got through to her!

Cammie - Enjoy the company, and just remember the "fish" rule - Fish and Family both begin to stink after 3 days! :rotfl2:

Debbie - Have you gotten out of your house yet???? You sound a little more upbeat now, hope DD is doing better.

Becky - I told DH about Doorway to Dreams and all he could say is, "glad I don't live in Chicago!" Cause he has no willpower!!!! Anyone know if POR has a DVC desk???? If so, I may come home an owner!!!!

Keahi - I have my lgmh ready to go!!!! I'll make sure DH holds my bag as much as possible!!! :rotfl:

OK, here's how bad I am, now that the trip is here, I'm already thinking about it being over!!! What's up with that? :confused3 So I've started planning for the food and wine festival (anyone been to that???) in October! It will be just DH and I and staying at Boardwalk where we honeymooned 11 years ago. We didn't get to do anything for our 10 year anniversary since we were in the process of moving, so I think a trip to WDW would be great! And since Epcot is our fave, food and wine festival, staying at Boardwalk - what could be better??? Plus, I'll need a trip to look forward to, right? See? I can justify anything!!!

Thank you all! I WILL have a good trip, even though it's short - and I'll post pics next week! I'm like a little kid today, I can't even work!!!

I broke it to DH last night over dinner that I made us matching shirts for the P&PP - you should have seen his face! It was priceless!:rotfl: But he'll wear them for DD, can't upset the princess now, can we???? And he's really excited about the little getaway, too. He's been working soooo hard since we moved, and we've both been stressing about so much - our house STILL hasn't sold back in SC and that is always in the back of our mind. Two mortgages! :scared1: Luckily, his company is paying our mortgage in SC, but still, all our money that is tied up in equity would be nice to have it "just in case." So I think we all need this trip.

Looks like some nasty weather again for some of you! I'm so sorry! Remember, it will be Spring before you know it!!!!

OK, better go before I fill up another zillion pages! Y'all have a great weekend!!!! I'll send some pixiedust: to all of you!

Kara - Love the fish and family comment!:lmao:

Just had to comment about the F&W festival - so, so fun! And staying at the BW will make it so convenient to go back & forth too! I've been lucky enough to be there a couple of times and it's simply a constant eating/drinking adventure. Epcot is usually a little more crowded than usual for this, but still managable, IMO. It just so fun being able to try some small samples of food (&drink!) from various countries.

I think there's a link on the dining board with what was offered last year and also the line-up for this year.

You and hubby would definitely enjoy it! BTW - I was psyched to see that I'll be able to catch the last weekend of it this year - it ends on Nov.9th and we'll be getting to the BW on the 8th!

Again, have a GREAT weekend!

Also meant to add - I don't think there is a DVC desk at the POR; think they are just at DVC resorts. But I know there are kiosks at the various parks. You might be able to stop by and request a DVD so you're not stuck too long listening to a sales pitch.

Go for it!

Kara! I forgot to wish you a great trip

Cammie, how is the mortgage game going? I should probably look at it...we have a home equity loan that is getting $$$$. I just don't want the hassles so I keep putting it off.

Good morning everyone! I am in my bedroom with the window open, trying to get some fresh air. DDIL is on the couch cuz her bedroom is cold and she doesn't want a blanket on because when she had a fever the doc told her not to have a blanket :confused3 The baby, who can't have the flu medicine, is 7 mo. old. They managed to get her to take the bottle last night, she slept really well with formula, and she's back on the breast today, so she's happy.

Now DS has to go to the college today and try to make arrangements for her to be able to finish this term....those two have had such a struggle...I will be especially proud when they finish their BA in June.

Okay, here is a smile for ya - I saw this link on some "peep" discussion and thought it was too cute:

Hello Debbie, Jillian, Tessa, Keahi, Sewer, Pam1 and Pam2, Becky, Lisa, Maureen...some of you are MIA! If I missed someone, I'm sorry. Happy Friday everyone! :yay: :yay:

Hello again...

Kara, thanks for the shamrock. Couldn't quite get it to work - but thank you!

I was wondering if I could get everyone's help one more time.

I'm trying to get everything planned out. Here are two thoughts. Feel free to tell me to scrap one if needed. Or if I am just plain out of control, :lmao: I take that well too!

Present Plan
Day 1 (Sat): Arrive at MCO. Check in. MK. Dinner at CP. Back to resort around 7.

Day 2: (Sun: MK evening EMH) Leave for MK early. Have 8:10 BF at CP. Morn at MK. transfer to DHS around noon. Lunch at H&V at 1:20. Block Party at 3. See Lightening McQueen, PH Disney, maybe Muppets. Go to resort. Dinner at CM.

Day 3: (Mon: AK morn EMH; DHS even EMH). Be at AK for opening. Lunch. Head to resort to rest. Evening at AK or MK. Dinner at Whispering Canyon.

Day 4 (Tues) MK at open. Late BF at CM. Maybe MK until 1. Leave for airport.

CONSIDERING THIS....
Day 1 (Sat arrival) Evening at AK
Day 2 (Sun) morning at AK. Lunch at H&V. Afternoon at DHS. Dinner at CM
Day 3 (Mon) All day at MK. Dinner at Whispering Canyon
Day 4 (Tues) same plan as above.

Do those of you who have been see one case as better? If it helps Day 2 is DS turning 4. SO, I want that day to be the BEST of course! pixiedust:

I KNOW I'm borderline obsessive at this point :rolleyes1 , but it is our first trip. And it is sadly my nature to do this for important things. I promise though I won't be commando on him in the park. ;)

Any help will be WONDERFUL!

Check out the times, I don't think AK is open past 4 or 5? I can't remember when you're going though. Nah, you're not obsessive! But by having a plan, you'll enjoy yourself sooooo much more!

Hi Kara ~ Thought you were in Disney. Was I wrong about that?

Yes, AK is open until 7 or 8 most nights we are there. They changed the scheduled times last week I think. The CM I was talking to said they do that when they are anticipating a larger crowd. LOVELY!

I talked with a friend who is a DVC member. Granted, she told me that if you stay on property you get in all the parks an hour early (so not true) for EMH. So... I know to take her advice with a BOX of salt. But she did say she wouldn't go near MK on Sunday. That she would recommend swapping AK to Sunday, and MK to Monday. Then she suggested maybe doing DHS that first afternoon end.

:teacher: Why is this so hard!!!!

Hi Kara ~ Thought you were in Disney. Was I wrong about that?

Nope, you weren't wrong - we're leaving in 1 hr, 43 minutes (as soon as DD gets home from school). DH is taking the dogs to the doggie resort right now. DD was so funny this morning. She asked me if she was having an early dismissal today, and when I told her no, she informed me, "I think I should, so we can get on the road sooner." Coming out in her little chipmunk tone it just sounded so funny, trying to sound all grown up!

I should take a photo of my suitcase - y'all would laugh so hard!!!!! But it's hard to plan for the weather - supposed to be low of 52 tomorrow night - what do I wear for that???? So I guess I need to pack 2 extra pairs of pants, a sweatshirt AND a sweater, and 3 pairs of shoes!!!!!!!! :confused3

OK, here's how bad I am, now that the trip is here, I'm already thinking about it being over!!! What's up with that? :confused3 So I've started planning for the food and wine festival (anyone been to that???) in October! Hey, we'll be there in Oct., too (sort of - Sept. 29th-Oct. 3rd) We're spending 6 days at WDW before jumping on the cruise...

Nope, you weren't wrong - we're leaving in 1 hr, 43 minutes (as soon as DD gets home from school).

If I were you, I wouldn't have time to be checking the computer. I'd be in route to Walgreens to get me some Depends. I'd be so excited, well... you know how that affects you after two kids. :lmao:

Normally, I wouldn't post something like this, but it is just too funny! While I know this isn't the case at everyone's house, it sure is familiar at ours! Hope it gives you a nice laugh like it did me....

THE NEXT SURVIVOR SERIES

Six married men will be dropped on an island with one car and 3 kids
each for six weeks.

Each kid will play two sports and either take music or dance classes

There is no fast food.

Each man must take care of his 3 kids; keep his assigned house clean,
correct all homework, and complete science projects, cook, do laundry,
and pay a list of 'pretend' bills with not enough money.

In addition, each man will have to budget in money for groceries each week.

Each man must remember the birthdays of all their friends and
relatives, and send cards out on time.

Each man must also take each child to a doctor's appointment, a dentist
appointment and a haircut appointment.

He must make one unscheduled and inconvenient visit per child to the
Urgent Care.

H e must also make cookies or cupcakes for a social function.
Each man will be responsible for decorating his own assigned house,
planting flowers outside and keeping it presentable at all times.

The men will only have access to television when the kids are asleep and
all chores are done.

The men must shave their legs, wear makeup daily, adorn himself with
jewelry, wear uncomfortable yet stylish shoes, keep fingernails
polished and eyebrows groomed.

During one of the six weeks, the men will have to endure severe
abdominal cramps, back aches, and have extreme, unexplained mood swings
but never once complain or slow down from other duties.

They must attend weekly school meetings, church, and find time at least
once to spend the afternoon at the park or a similar setting.

They will need to read a book and then pray with the children each
night and in the morning, feed them, dress them, brush their teeth and
comb their hair by 7:00 am.

A test will be given at the end of the six weeks, and each father will
be required to know all of the following information: each child's
birthday, height, weight, shoe size, clothes size and doctor's name.
Also the child's weight at birth, length, time of birth, and length of
labor, each child's favorite color, middle name, favorite snack,
favorite song, favorite drink, favorite toy, biggest fear and what they
want to be when they grow up.

The kids vote them off the island based on performance. The last man
wins only if...he still has enough energy to be intimate with his
spouse at a moment's notice.

If the last man does win, he can play the game over and over and over again
for the next 18-25 years eventually earning the right to be called
Mother!
