Pam & Tammie Thank you for your thoughts and opinions!!!! I'll let you know how it goes. Still no word from DH if we are going or not tomorrow. I did offer to make the run (an hour away). I also told him I really couldn't commit to anything for next year. My DH is the perfect husband for me. Super laid back. I think he gets me and where I am coming from. Sometimes I think he just wants an excuse to not have to run around that doesn't look bad. His family is great but they are VERY informal about things like this. It always seems to work out. We will see about this time.

Hi Gang,
I have to pause from my magical trip reporting with pix to vent………….
I am totally stressing over tomorrow. I have been trying not to unload about it here because I just don’t want you guys to get the wrong impression of me. I am afraid I will come across as selfish. I STILL do not know what I am doing tomorrow! If you can believe it!

My DH actually gave me an out and said we could just go my family this year and then just make sure to eat with his family next year. That sounds all well and fair except I don’t feel comfortable committing to next year when I don’t know what next year holds. I just know that when it comes down to it next year I won’t want to miss out on my family’s Thanksgiving…

So back to square one I still don’t know what I am doing….
I am assuming by tonight I will know…………

By this weekend I should be over this crap, onto Christmas stress, but back to posting pix of my trip (I have over 500).

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving if I don't get back here again.....
hopefully I will....................

Don't worry about venting, I go through the same thing EVERY year!

Debbie, love the pics!!! You have such a "huggable-looking" family...I hope your thanksgiving goes well.
I am lucky my side of the family is so widespread - only DH family around here to fret about - they are sooo nice, but do expect "perfection" on family occasions - it is MIL 70th birthday next weekend and on the 2nd, we have to go out for a family meal - trouble is it is in a pub (inn, tavern, bar..) that does food - not a child friendly place - with her 4 granchildren aged 8 down to 5 included -we will have to make up colouring/activity sheets or something -they will be sooooo bored....

At least we have a no smoking in ANY workplace rule in now - so it won't stink out the girls clothes this time. Just be a general smell of grease and beer....(and this is a nice pub!!)

I can understand about not wanting to take turns (though it would make life easier) but maybe you have to say to them, I'm finding it hard doing the whole 2 meal thing can we do the evening with you next year (or next day or whatever). If it is said fairly bluntly, then people understand the stress you are under - they sound like nice folks generally, so would hope they go for it... sorry it is hard being in the middle of it all.... but try to enjoy!!!

Bye for now, got to go stress over paying for our trip next week, transfer some money to our cheque account , make a list of queries for the travel agent etc etc

Happy Thanksgiving everybody!

I had such a good night's sleep night - first night in weeks that I didn't wake up in the middle of the night! Yeah! Looking forward to relaxing day - I'm cooking just the foods my girls and I like - don't have to please anyone else! Double-yeah! Hope everyone has just as a relaxing and satisfying day.

Debbie - Love your pictures; and your kids are adorable! My kids would LOVE to have their birthday in WDW; but Amanda's is in July (too hot) and Lauren's in March (too cold?). Anyway, I just tell them it's like their birthday when we're there because they essentially get to do everything they want anyway! And, if I could put my two cents in re: your holiday dilemna. For the first part of my adult life, I've been a people-pleaser -- always doing what everyone else wanted me to do and putting others first. As I've gotten older, wiser, became a mother, and now divorced, I'm getting better about doing what's best for ME (and my girls) and if that ticks off members of my family and friends - OH WELL! I don't know if this helps with what to do with your holidays, but I think you should look at the overall picture and do what makes you and your family the happiest!

Tammie - Hope you have a happy holiday with your grandkids!

Hi to everyone else! Hope everyone is happy, healthy and surrounded by their loved ones! Will try to post tomorrow before we leave. Car is picking us up Sat. at 5am! (what was I thinking?) I've got my carry-ons all packed; now just need to make one last check of the forecast and I'll officially start putting clothes into a suitcase!

This is why I have such anxiety at the holidays. We are NOT going by DHs side today because they are basically serving at the same time as my Aunt and are an hour apart and I feel bad. I was willing to drive there early but his side doesn't want to get together any earlier I guess. Not even to help me out. Oh well. They probably figure my side isn't changing anything up so why should they. I don't want DH or DHs side to be mad at me! I wish I didn't care. My Mom stated this AM that she is going to go to Florida next year for Thanksgiving because she is sick of the same discussion year after year. Like that would help me! The main person I want to be with! I am already exhausted today and I don't host and we haven't even left the house yet! This is why I actually LOSE weight during the holidays!

I wish I could explain better why I don't want to take turns...I know it sounds so selfish......

I guess I also wish his side would work around us more and they don't. I see it but I know DH doesn't. DHs side is just his immediate family getting together with their kids (I know now I am sure I am repeating myself & I apologize) so they have NO ONE to work around at this point. It's just his Mom & Dad & 3 sisters (2 sisters are divorced & 1 with out of town in-laws). I guess that is why I don't think it would be such a big deal to get together at 1:00 instead of 2:00 or 2:30. I just know I am going to have to do Thanksgiving there next year and I dread the thought of not sitting down for dinner with my parents..... I am just realistic about how I know I will feel. I wish I could be a little delusional at times!!! I also understand that I am way too close to my Mom but we are best friends, we live together, we have this connection...I don't know what to do about that either.

Do you want to hear something crazy....I rememebr waking up the day after getting engaged like it was yesterday and thinking OMG how am I going to share my time with his family....Sad isn't it!!!

I am done with this.....I will go back to happy thoughts and posting magical pix!
My WDW trip is actually my favorite time of year (holiday).

Hi everybody! Hope everyone had an enjoyable turkey day!

We leave tomorrow at 5am; flight at 7:30am; in Orlando by 11am. So excited! My brother, his wife and 6mos.old son arrived today - they're coming too! Just found out this morning that we've been upgraded to a 2bdrm.w/preferred view at the BWV! Couldn't believe it! Our trip this year is being taken care of by Make-A-Wish (my daughter qualifies because of her medical needs). They told me we had rooms in the BWI, called today and was told of the upgrade. They've got me crying already and I'm not even there yet!

Hope everyone has a good week. I'll have lots of pix to post when we get back!

Tessa - We used to go to restaurants/pubs for birthdays on my dad's side of the family. I actually loved it. Me & my sisters may have been hard to handle though. I'll have to ask my mom. I know we got silly a lot. We used to hide out in the bathroom some of the time if they had seats and sofas. I like going to people's houses for some parties though. I don't always want to go out to restaurants.

Debbie - Once again, great pics. You guys do look like such a great huggable family. I love the outfit that your DD has w/the Mickey pony tail holders. And your DS looks so happy. So cute.

I am right there w/Debbie on the holiday problem. My DH is laid back, his family is okay w/us not coming on the actual holiday because their own daughter doesn't have the kids every holiday so they already have to plan around them. With that I am lucky. I am so....obsessed w/being w/my family every holiday. It is mostly the moms that we worry about I think though. They put their heart & soul into making us happy over the years and we want to do everything to make them happy. Hope everyone's holiday was great.

My kids laugh at me every time I'm online because I'm on this site checking something else out...I'm trying to make plans but need to have a family meeting so everyone has input...I have had many sleepless nights already and have more than one month to go...I tried to get my countdown ticker to work, but I can't even do that!. ..I was there last year with one of my DD and am trying to recall what I said I would do and wouldn't do on my next trip, not expecting to go this year!!

Is there anywhere to tell me what all the abbreviations are?

I'm here - have been busy with my kids, decorating for Christmas, and getting organized to move my office. Thanks for posting the pics! They are awesome.

That castle pic inspired me to ask my family if we can plan a WDW vacation for Christmas in the next few years - we'll see! Plane tickets are so spendy at that time of year.
