Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too........ Part 2

WTH, here we go again with the weather!

I just wanted to let you know that DSIL talked me off the ledge. She pointed out that if we tried to swallow a large pill with no water, we'd have issues, so I should have known if she tried to swallow something. There is still that huge fear in the back of my mind right now, but I have to totally trust that she is right, or else I will go nuts!

I have had to call poison control a few times! They don't mess around. If they were worried they would have immdeiately sent to you to the ER!

I am STILL stressing over the airfare. Mom is still mad beacuse she said she thought I was booking the 219.00. We are both sick over the 70.00 difference we missed by a hair.
Now I am wondering if I should book with miles!
Bad thing is I saw the plane and it is filled!!!! So now I am afraid the flight is going to disappear all together!

Thank you so much Debbie - made me feel so much better about poison control. :thumbsup2

Yeah, don't mess with your flight. You would hate for someone to grab it in the process of you altering something and then have no flight. My vote is to leave it alone and think that you are still coming out ahead with the free dining. All this upset isn't going to make that offer come back - it is done. Man, I should really take my own advice now shouldn't I? :lmao:

OK, I'm really sweating right now. I just emailed DD's teachers, and copied the principal (who I absolutely loathe!!!!). I sent them the "we're going on vacation and don't try to stop us" letter. :rotfl2: Actually, here is what I wrote...

**** will be out of school the week of May 5th on an extended family vacation. Please know that we do not typically excuse Ally from school for vacation, however this is a trip that was planned two years ago by her grandparents, and will include three generations of our family. Ally has had perfect attendance since beginning school last year in South Carolina and I feel confident in stating that Ally will complete all assignments that are given out during this time, if you will please provide a list ahead of time. If you need to contact either of us to discuss this arrangement, please call...

Does that sound okay??? I had an email from the principal waaaaay back before we even moved here and he said it was no problem for her to be off. But somehow I lost it (I think it was that witch that took over my old job - she locked me out of my email days before I was scheduled to quit!). Now that I've shown my butt a couple of times at the school, I don't want them to take it out on DD by not excusing her.

Renee, what are you still doing here? Shouldn't you be in bed? :rotfl2: Go! Get outta here! How are we supposed to talk about you if you're here! :rotfl: Have fun!!!!!

We always know what's best but NEVER can listen to it when it's ourselves! What's wrong with us????

I'm still around because I'm typing page 2 of DH instruction list on how to take care of DD. Think that he will think it is too much??? :lmao:

Okay, actually just finished. I'm out of here. See you later!

Debbie - didn't you say 9/17-9/24? Get on travelocity right now! I saw $223 on Spirit Airlines, and 286 on Airtran (nonstop) both include taxes. I also set you up a farefinder in my account. Who know? I'd wait to book until next Wednesday - again, "they" say that midnight Tuesday night/Wed morning is the best time to book? :confused3

I just got my mom a flight from Akron/Canton to Jacksonville for $115 + tax. So the low fares are still out there.

I'm just SOOOOO worried. She actually couldn't injest them could she? I mean they are little though, about the size of pea gravel. I know that their airway isabout the size as their pinky, so how much bigger could their throat be at that age? I sware!!!!

Renee - Don't worry - be happy! DD will be fine; weather will be fine; all will be fine! Go have a wonderfully, magical time and TRY to relax and leave your worries behind!

Girlfriend - BOOK those tickets! Think of how upset you'll be if the flight sells out! Seriously, I've been down this road - you'll go completely gray if you wait this out. If this is truly the flight you want, get it! It will be a huge relief to finally have it booked and to take yourself out of the "wait & see" game.

Ok - I'm in a feisty mood today ...... Kara - your letter sounds fine, but I don't think you have to justify taking your daughter out for vacation. I think a simple "My daugher Ally will be missing school the week of -- due to a family vacation to Disneyworld". Teachers aren't obligated to give work out ahead of time - she may have to catch up when she gets back. But just assure them that you will certainly make sure she does that. I know some school districts are really strict about taking kids out of school, but I don't think you need to feel like you have to ask permission. She's your daughter - you tell them what you're doing. I wouldn't sweat it.

Hey look, it's Cammie! I thought you wouldn't be here cause you "had a life." :snooty: Totally j/k!!!! :rotfl: Yes, I'm in a feisty mood, too!

I agree with you about the letter, but I thought it best to play it safe since I've had a couple of "issues" with this school, ya know? I don't want DD to suffer because of it. I already got the go ahead from the principal, and it really doesn't matter what they say..... We're gone! :cool1: But I want to at least "appear" to be the conscientious parent. Yeah, right! :lmao:

DH is putting that thingy (yes, that is the technical term for it!) on the Tivo so we can pipe in Live365 tonight while we've got the dueling laptops going! And you thought we'd be having "fun" while DD is at her slumber party!

Actually DH and DD are heading to the pool right now - I still have to work for another hour or so....

My life doesn't start until 5:30pm!:rotfl:

Re: the letter. Yes, I suppose it's best to take that approach - let them think they're LETTING you take your daugther out of school; but, as parents, we all know we're doing it know matter what!

OK - what is this thingy that allows you to play LIVE365 through Tivo and how can I get it?

I'll be around for a little while longer - then off to my girlfriend's. She's doing mexican - Margaritas baby!

It's a network adapter to run Tivo through your computer - or vice versa. So I can pull up Live365 on the computer and then Tivo will recognize that and I can play it through the TV! I'm sooo excited! Debbie does this too, I think!

Funny thing.... He never would hook up Tivo since we moved UNTIL last Friday when we played dueling laptops (I love that! :rotfl: ) and I had Live playing on mine. When I told him about running it through Tivo he knew exactly what to do! So not only do I get to hear Live365 over the BIG speakers, I get my Tivo back!!!!!! The part was $60 through Tivo, or you can get it at Circuit City/Best Buy but it's actually more there, so we ordered through Tivo.

Hey, what time is Samantha Brown on tonight????

Samantha Brown special is on at 9pm.

I had heard that there are new Disney Travel Channel shows every Friday night for the next few weeks. Be on the lookout! (I used to have a website that listed all programming for the week that featured Disney - lost it when my computer crashed!:headache: )

Kara- 9pm I already have it tivo'd I love live365 I was doing dishes and the music kept me in memory land and it went by in no time.

Jillian - there's nothing quite as crappy as those first few days home from Disney, huh? :sad2: But you already have a new ticker so you're all set!

And my DH is a pain on vacations cause he'll be like "well, our vacation is 20% over as of today..." And then the "did you know that our vacation is officially half done?" I hate him when he does that!!!!!

Thank you so much Debbie - made me feel so much better about poison control. :thumbsup2

I am sure your Pedi told you this make sure your DD drinks a TON of water not gatorade juice etc... You should be fine for you trip Have a blast I hope you have a better week then we did.

Yeah, I agree., The problem with me is somehow I can't transfer it into my housework! :rotfl2: Unfortunately....that is NOT perfect!! :laundy:
I have this theory that because it will never be perfect I just don't try as hard!

Oh well.....since my trip is right around the corner I am getting really sick with worry about all the things that are out of my control. Like right now my kids have colds!!!!!! When you look forward to a trip so...... much you don't want anything ruining it!

What if they don't get better by then....
what if we get sick now for the trip....
what if my daughter won't go on the rides.....
what if my son won't sleep......
I know I've got to let it go and I can't!!!! I'm CRAZY!!!!

OK, you are seriously describing ME :scared1: !!! We just got back from a cruise back in March. I was so worried about one of us getting sick before our vacation - it almost made me sick! Two days before our cruise, my kids were exposed to a niece that had been sick with a stomach flu - I freaked out and cried for a day and a half!!! I NEVER cry!!!! My husband thought I was nuts!!
ANY, you know what? We went on the cruise and all ended up getting upper respiratory infections. The second and third day I had NO voice at all. BUT, guess what??? We still had a BLAST :dance3:

So, what did I learn from this? Well, it does not do any good to worry. I can't control who gets sick and when. AND, it takes more than a cold to bring us down!

But, I am sure I will still worry next time........

OMG I am so stressed my head REALLY hurts!!! We decided to get the air with miles. As of right now my parents will fly with my brother and girlfriend and my family will be on a later flight. There were only 4 seats available on one of the flights with miles. So no one pays anything! It’s not a complete done deal because they are all still on hold but it will be done with before the weekend ends!

I am no mood to go to the YMCA to swim now so my poor kids are going to get gypped and I will probably be drunk posting tonight!

Kara…DDs letter was fine. Tough tooties..I say. I am a teacher by trade and think it is an absolute joke to give people a hard time about vacations!!! Don’t post that on the DIS though or you’ll get an earful! I am pulling my DD until I feel it’s too hard on her (not the school). We might even pull her twice next year!:snooty:

Thanks for looking but I was under the impression they DID stop. That was the bummer! I can always look again. Thank you for thinking of me!!!! I will go check Airtran now.
