Tammie, if it makes you feel any better, I lay on the couch and read for about 1/2 hr or 40 minutes every day during lunch, and then catch a 15 minute power nap. Does wonders for me! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I needed to hear that from someone younger than me! :thumbsup2 Power Nap - I LIKE it!

And I sit around in my bathrobe, smoking and drinking all day -- does wonders for me!

:rotfl:

OMG! I was laughing out loud! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: What does THAT smiley look like?

I'm here just been busy the weather has been so terrific that we have been out EVERYday. I have also been cleaning up like crazy. I am sick of the clutter. I am not a fan of nick knacks just cannot stand them Mike is a pack rat and it is our biggest fight. Thanks for missing me!

:lmao: That is all I could do after I read these comments!

Well I got a Pin code in the email today and it saved me another $170 can you believe it so with everything from plane tickets to car rental to Disney w/ FREE dining it is going to cost me as much as staying at a Value
Grand total $2002 :woohoo::yay::worship: gotta love Disney!!!

I hope everyone is doing well I couldn't really go back and catch up I may have found a stay at home job as an on call coordinator for a travel nurse company it would only be every other weekend and 2 holidays a year! I really do hope I get it.

Woo Hoo Renee's Home!!!!!! Can't wait to see pics and hear about the trip.

Tammie- Pkg. received thank you so much  I emailed you!

Laura- Have your hubby take some Advil before that shot. It can really hurt sometimes more than the injury.

Yeah for Pin codes!!! I'll look for your email!

So I wanted to post what I did today. DD9 said she needed a book cover, so I made her a cool one with HM fabric.

IMG_0792.jpg

And DH made me this neat pole for my dress form - yes it's made from duck tape, but it's really cool because you mold it around the person so it's true fit and it costs next to nothing compared to the real dress forms that cost like $150.
IMG_0795.jpg

Promise I'm going to make those cushions. I'm sitting next to the foam thing right now. I can't sleep so I'm trying figure out if I should cut the fabric now or wait until tomorrow. I need to make the practice cushion before Friday because I'm sitting on it for 3 hours during dance.

Wow Tina! You are the Martha one! That book cover is so cool! How do you use that dress form? What is on the back so you can customize it?

Okay, I just have to laugh at DH. He has a cold and decided to go to bed early while I was out tonight. Except the sheets were in the dryer. So he put them on and went to bed. He came out to sleep on the couch cuz he was coughing, so I came to bed only to find he had put the king sized pillowcases on the standard pillows - all crooked - then he placed the bottom sheet barely over the edge - all bunched up in the middle - threw the top sheet in all rumpled, and then put the comforter on sideways :rotfl2: I always have to have it all on there just right, or I can't sleep! Not anal or controlling in any way. :rolleyes1 At least he wasn't in the bed while I was trying to fix it!

Jillian - Thanx! I needed to hear that! I felt like a mean mom for making her cry over her homework. And yea about the job! That sounds great! And double yea about the pin code! Gotta love it!

Yes, Tina, you are truly the Martha on here!!! Does that dress form adjust in the back?

Okay, I just have to laugh at DH. He has a cold and decided to go to bed early while I was out tonight. Except the sheets were in the dryer. So he put them on and went to bed. Seriously, what are we to do with them??? :confused3 And what would they do without us?

Well, Jeff FINALLY got his grill working last night! He was so happy! All through dinner he kept saying, "aren't these the most tender chicken breasts you've ever had?" :rotfl2: Seriously, I can't imagine paying $4K for a grill!!! That is what ours retails for, but it was my going away present from my last job. When you open the hood it has bright lights on the back and sides of the grill, a programmable temperature control and timer, and a place where you can put woodchips for smoky flavor. He's in heaven. And he should be, cause this is the ONLY way he'd ever get a grill like that! After dinner he was out there cleaning it with olive oil (saw that on Food Network), unlike his old grills that had so much built up gunk on them that they had to be thrown out!

Funny, Cammie, that's EXACTLY how I pictured you! :rotfl2: j/k ;)

Only one way to find out for sure - keep that weekend with Ally in Nov. so we can meet in person!:thumbsup2

I want a code! Congrats Jillian!

So I wanted to post what I did today. DD9 said she needed a book cover, so I made her a cool one with HM fabric.

Tina - You continually put me to shame. If Lauren needs a book covered, I either purchase one of those stretchies covers from Staples or use a plain, old boring brown paper bag. I like your way much better!

Men!:confused3 I'm with you on the bed making. Everything needs to be on straight and tucked in properly before I can get in to sleep - and then pull it all out again!

I had Lauren's open house last night. Met all of her teachers - and I LOVED them all! I was really impressed with them. I'm especially excited for French this year. Her teacher is a fireball and I'm already surprised with how much I remember from my French days. It should be fun helping Lauren. And her "team" has let us know that they're ok with kids being pulled out of school for vacations - as long as the student goes online and gets the work they'll be missing while away. Everything is online - even the workbooks! Anyway, that's a load off my mind; I'm always afraid Lauren is going to get the teachers who will be a real PITA about our Disney trip. I can't wait to go to the France pavillion in Epcot and have Lauren put her skills to use!

So I'm sitting in one of the classrooms with two moms of Lauren's friends - one of them her really good friend. And these moms are talking about getting their daughters' eyebrows bleached and/or waxed! WTH? They're 12! Now, I guess I'm lucky - I've never done anything to my eyebrows; always been told they were fine. So I don't really "get" this. Lauren's are a little dark but never in my wildest dreams would I think of doing anything about it. And I couldn't believe the one mom - whom I'm friends with. I've really been disagreeing with alot of the things she lets her daughter do. And I'm not liking the path this girl seems to be on. This is the one friend that always seems to pick a fight with Lauren over every little thing. In front of me, she's really sweet; but I've heard from Lauren and her other friends that around them she curses alot and makes fun of everyone. And her mom doesn't seem to have a problem with her acting "older" - she lets her wear eye makeup and gets her subscriptions to mags. like Seventeen and CosmoGirl - which she brings to sleepovers. One of the other moms found the mags at her house and she was NOT HAPPY! I don't know what this kid's mom is thinking -- it's called "Seventeen" magazine for a reason! I'm starting to sense that this girl is going to be the troublemaker in the group and the one that will constantly put Lauren's good judgement to the test. UGH!:headache:

Sorry for going a little off there - but what do you all think of the eyebrow thing for a 12 yr.old?

There is no way I'd let a 12 year old get anything done to her eyebrows! For heaven's sake, let them be kids for awhile, they grow up so fast as it is, and get thrust into the real world. KWIM? Sounds like it wouldn't be such a bad thing if Lauren and that girl went their separate ways.

I say that as I sit here watching the 9/11 footage from 7 years ago. It's like it just happened. I still get so choked up when I see this. I'm glad Ally was just a few months old when this happened, so I didn't have to answer any questions.

But back to your question Cammie. I have one. Does Lauren shave her legs yet? At what age does that start? How about makeup? I have no idea when all this happens..... oy vey!

Funny story. Last night during dinner Ally was telling us that the kids on the bus tease her and Sean (our neighbor who's a year older and a really good friend of Ally) about being "boyfriend/girlfriend." Jeff suddenly started laughing that Jack Nicholson laugh from The Shining, and slamming his knife through his chicken. He doesn't like to think about that time coming. It was hilarious.

Oh, and I'm really glad you like Lauren's teachers. That is such a relief. And no problems with being out of school for WDW? :cool1: They are definitely good teachers, IMHO!;)

Kara - Glad to hear I'm not alone on the eyebrow issue. I don't know - I think it sends a message to your daughter that "there's something wrong with the way you look and we need to fix it.":confused3

As for leg shaving: Lauren just started this summer. She had dark hair on her legs but it didn't seem to bother her. I know alot of her friends had been shaving their legs since 6th grade; but I just let her decide for herself when she wanted to. Regarding the makeup - with the exception of lipgloss (and that's only if she's dressed up and going someplace), she wears nothing. And I won't let her wear it until high school. But you can't believe how many girls were wearing really heavy eye makeup - as young as 5th and 6th grade. Of course that one friend I was talking about wears it quite frequently. Lauren and the rest of her friends think it looks horrible!

I think I started shaving my legs in 7th grade and makeup in 9th. Ally wears lip gloss now, but only around the house. It ends up about an inch outside her lipline and she looks like Angelina Jolie :lmao: so I won't let her wear anything by chapstick outside the house!

Poor Ally has REALLY hairy legs, but luckily it's blonde. She has already asked to shave her legs!!! I agree about the message it sends to kids. And I think my mom wouldn't let me get a perm until high school, and I never highlighted until college. Hair treatments are do damaging to hair and kids have such healthy hair!

Why do moms want their 12 year old daughters to look 18?? I think it's asking for trouble....

I am so dreading the day when that question comes up. Beth wasn't born yet and we have skirted talking about 9/11 I know its coming but so not looking forward to it.

We have our BBB makeup that Beth will wear around the house. It is strictly for dress up. I have tried to tell her that no "real" make up for a long time but it falls on deaf ears. However this is the child that won't brush her hair because I could be playing instead of doing that. :confused3

Beth has decided she is getting married and have 13 kids :scared1: with a boy she has known since preschool, so I totally understand the boyfriend thing. We've told her she doesn't have to pick a boy yet but she is dead set that she is marrying Conlin. They decided this 4 weeks in to preschool. Now they sit near each other in 1st grade. I'm hoping it is a harmless crush and will go away so she continues to play with her girlfriends but only time will tell. I can't even think about being a grandma to 13 kids. :scared1:

I agree 12 is too young. Although I was 11 when I got mine done because I had a serious unibrow and I was getting made fun of. As for shving legs I was in 7th grade also. Make I have never worn it it makes me itch and break out a slight allergy to something in it. Oh Well. I guess it is time to get the Badookie dressed and ready for his playdate.
What happend to my playdates? When is the last time I had one of those.

And Kara you cannot cancel Nov. what about our PF ressies?:rotfl:

Laura, I think that's so cute about Beth and her boyfriend. It's totally harmless at this age though, so don't worry. Ally had her first boyfriend in daycare. Their cribs were side by side when they were in the nursery and by the time they were in the toddler room, they were inseparable. Curtis' mom and I thought it was hilarious. At Ally's 3rd bday party, she had all her little girlfriends around, and then when Curtis showed up they went running into each others arms. It was adorable. And I've got the pictures to prove it....

Ally in the middle, with Curtis on the right.

Ally and her cake (that her mother made! yea for me!).

Oh, and while I'm at it, here's a cute one from her 4th bday party with special guest Sleeping Beauty!

SBAllyblowoutcandles.jpg

I'll stop there, otherwise you'll see way more than you probably want to see! Including an Elmo cake, Gymnast cake, Kim Possible cake, and who knows what it'll be this year!!!!

Jillian, we're not cancelling! I'm too excited about our trip in November. And I'm really excited about 1900PF - I've heard it is so much fun!

Hey guys! Got a quick hi from Cammie and certainly didn't want you all to feel like I wasn't coming back... so I decided to be honest and put what is going on to give you guys a glimpse and I'll read/post later. DEAL?

1. Ricky Broke his foot/toe in the river pool - 3 feet deep - :rolleyes1. He at least was trying to keep Nicolas from bumping his noggin. SO... I told him to suck it up Sat. He went to the dr. yesterday and it was broken  , so he sees an ortho today or tomorrow to find if they will rebrake it to set it correctly because it is displaced.:headache:

2. The kids and Carlos were ready to come home after 3 nights. Prompted us discussing going only 3 nights to WDW in May. I agreed. I think it is absolutely the right thing to do, but I honestly might be coming in early Thursday now Kara, Cammie & Pam!

3. Didn't enjoy the resort that much. No beach noise. Lots of pool noise. Long walks. I'd rather be at the old one, but glad I tried this one.

4. Beautiful weather while there.

5. Yesterday started taking the new drug Bactrum DS. For those of you who caught Medical Mysteries on Tues night - the same one that caused the girl to have Steven-Johnsons Syndrome. I have two weeks on this one. :scared1:

6. I COOKED the majority of the trip. We ate lunch out twice and dinnner out twice, I COOKED the rest

7. My house is trashed.

8. I'm trying to clean out closets.

9. I'm helping a friend with some project stuff - due Friday - and I haven't even started. :sad2: :scared1: :sad2: :scared1:

10. I MISSED YOU GUYS LIKE YOU WOULDN"T BELIEVE! Kara, I so need a laptop. My computer keeps closing window and it is time for a new one. SERIOUSLY!

I wish I had your cell phone number with me Cammie cause I would have taped the Pool Boy for you. He looked like a captain Jack. SERIOUSLY! No ring either. :rolleyes1

OH...

and bonus.... thanks for all the Jonas Brothers help. Without you guys, I would have never been able to get 5 of the answers to the People crossword puzzle on the way back! :rotfl2:

Kara - I understand what you're saying about let kids be kids. My friends-friend shaved her DD9's legs while they were on vacation! I don't think 9 is the right age to be shaving legs! You have to do that for the rest of your life! My DD9 is using deoderant - she's got the 4th grade funk, but she's doing better.

The book cover was so easy!! I cut a piece of fabric 4 in bigger on the top and bottom and then 6 in bigger on the left and right. I folded the top and bottom to fit the cover and pinned it. Then I folded the right and left to fit the book cover when closed and pinned. Then I did a straight stitch. I sewed it with the paperbag in the fabric for extra protection for the book.
Reading the directions I'm not sure I'm clear, but if you're interested PM me and I'll try to do a picture explanation because I want to do some seasonal ones. I might raffle off a HM one that I have fabric for and then donate the money to our Disney fund.

The dress form - You customize the dress form - you take an old t-shirt, have the child wear it and nothing else (on top) then you wrap the child in duck tape over the shirt. When you get to the chest you cut strips and put them up the chest and then do strips over the shoulders and around the arms. I have done this for sizes 4-6, 8-10 and now 12-16. So each duck tape dummy is a different size. So when I make them an outfit I don't have to have them put it on each time. My kids are deathly afraid of pins and needles - I think from getting stuck too many times.
IMG_0796.jpg

See here's a picture with DD9's first day of school shirt that I made for her - too late for school. If I had the dress form on the pole when I made the shirt I would have realized that the top was a little too big, but it worked out.

Did everyone get the email that had these in the ad? I think I'm smitten with these funky little cocked glasses. Too cute!

93057-1

Renee - Oh, I'm sorry your trip had all those problems!!! Sounds awful - was it el chupacabra that got Ricky? :rotfl2:

Cooking on vacation??? Girl, you need to train you husband better!!! There's no cooking on vacation!!!!

Are you sure you only want to do 3 nights at Disney? That will soooo limit what you are able to do!

Tina, I think I understand what you're saying, so basically you take the duct tape shirt off and put it on the stand and that's your dress form for that size? Very ingenious! :thumbsup2

I was going to ask who the heck Ricky was, but your email cleared that up for me! Should have known it was the hubby!

Well, I'm happy to hear you'll come down early on Thurs.!:yay: But I agree with Kara, only three nights for your family trip is going to be hard. Why do you think you can only stand to do three nights? Remember - it's Disney! You'll have more than enough things to keep you entertained.

3. Didn't enjoy the resort that much. No beach noise. Lots of pool noise. Long walks. I'd rather be at the old one, but glad I tried this one.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you'll finally get some relief!

6. I COOKED the majority of the trip. We ate lunch out twice and dinnner out twice, I COOKED the rest

Ok, agreeing with Kara again on this one.......cooking on vacation?! Then, for you, it wasn't TRUELY a vacation. You need a do-over!

7. My house is trashed.

So is everybody's else's! Leave it and come play on the DIS!

8. I'm trying to clean out closets.

See above comment.

9. I'm helping a friend with some project stuff - due Friday - and I haven't even started. :sad2: :scared1: :sad2: :scared1:

Again, see above comment.

OH...

Glad to help with the JoBro info.! Need to know anything else?

just catching up.... kara your cakes inspired me to post this creation

P2180010.jpg

Very nice!!! :thumbsup2 I have yet to attempt any 3-D cakes, just the decorative pans, and pattern transfer onto sheet cakes. Those are my faves so far.

Oh, no, another bad day here. Ally got busted for talking again today - second day in a row - and got "blue" for the day, which means she was corrected repeatedly and had to miss 10 minutes of recess. I don't worry too much at this age about the talking, and just having to show me her color for the day is punishment enough, plus no TV or computer for the day.

Then there was a note from the teacher about Ally passing notes in class. So when I asked Ally about it, she swears up and down it was someone else. So who knows? I can't call her a liar, but at 7 years old, they can lie and not bat an eye, so I guess I just have to take her word for it at this point.

AND she got an F on some in class homework today. So finally I decided to email her teacher on all the issues. Her teacher is so great - she responded right away and told me that Ally is just rushing through her work. But she also made me feel better by telling me that all the kids are making careless mistakes right now and she thinks it's because they are just getting back into the flow of things and this is really the first year they have begun testing on all subjects. So she made me feel much better about everything.
