Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

I wear a mask 99% of the time.:scared1:

That is exactly why we are planning this trip. We ALL need to be convinced Kara is not a stalker.

I've hear of Shades of Green, but don't know much about it or haven't seen pics. It's probably too early for us to pick our resort? Once we know who's in, we can decide, maybe after the holidays? I just know that I would like to stay somewhere that has EMH and ME! I love that service! You are lucky to have connections, Tammie! Thanks for offering them to your CFWW buds!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

My personality is always to try to take care of everyone - it is not really important to me to stay at SOG - it's just way more comfortable room-wise - but not as exciting stay wise.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE SSR!!! We own there - I would love to just use our points and get a suite for the weekend, but I know Jim would like to save them for a "family vacation."

Tammie - you are just Ms. Hookup there, aren't you! So do you mind me asking what branch of service Jim was in? My SF was in the Navy (Atlantic) and I have two Step Brothers - one served a 18 mo tour in Iraq and the other leaves in Oct. I love military families. :goodvibes

I don't know - this is just my two cents - but if we all were okay with splitting a nicer room 4 ways to justify it as a "cheap splurge" would that be nicer and leave more openings in the SOG for service men & women and their families to enjoy during their leave :confused3

The other thing I would throw out there - and I don't know if you would be interested or not - is what about staying somewhere that we typically wouldn't stay. This may be a me only thing, but I know our trips are ultimately revolving on the kids (BTW - Carlos is leaning towards Poly because of Mr. Stitch Lover. :rolleyes1 ). I don't know - maybe I'm wrong - but isn't SSR the one that has that spa? That would be awesome to get a massage while there :cloud9:

I'm flexible and can go with what the majority wants. That is just my little thoughts for what they are worth. BUT I DO THINK YOU ARE SO SWEET TAMMIE - you are always offering up good deals, or offering to help someone with something (BTW - Mia's bottom is finally red free, so I'm going to give the samples you sent me a shot finally! I just had guilt trying them while she was still chapped in case the active ingredient is the issue for her.)

:cool1: Glad you are getting some down time without the kiddos there!

Hey - and here is a question too... I know Kara mentioned something about a cheap rate at SSR - now isn't that close to DTD? I haven't been, but would we be able to quickly get over there for dining and shopping? I'm still not sure I understand how that whole area is set up. I thought it was a bunch of clubs with just 2 or 3 stores, but I'm gathering there is so much more there.

Maybe I should look at resorts on my TGM so I know what you guys are all talking about. I'm a little more familiar with SSR because my friend owns a DVC there and loves it. She has literally talked about DVC until I want to puke! A walking ad, she is. I bet she gets something for a referral - right?

Where are some yummy places to eat? Is there one nice "must do" dinner we can do. I'll go on record as the person who can find something to eat just about anywhere. That is why I'm so skinny! :rotfl: ;)

Okay, I'm going to try to make myself go to sleep now. I seriously hate this lack of ability to sleep thing. Drives me nuts. I'm tired, just can't sleep.

Thanks for your nice comments! Jim is in the AF - actually Full Time National Guard now.

Like I said above, I am fine with whatever the majority decides!

SSR is fun because it is a short walk to DTD - maybe the new stuff will be all done by then! It would be great to ask for Congress Park - closest to DTD.

My only issue is my snoring. Maybe we could have a "snorers room" and a non-snorers room:confused3

Cammie, it is so cool you got to take Lauren to the concert! I wish we lived closer to a place where we could do things like that sometimes. We have to go to LA and do things with Jim's Uncle once in awhile! So sorry you had to use your ex's truck. That Nascar stickered car would fit in well around here!

Okay, now I'm getting excited! We could do a group PTR and TR!!!

Sounds fun!:goodvibes I need to look up SSR and SOG. I really need to brush up on all of the resorts. I only know POP becuz we stay there. I do know GF, but know that is where the rich people stay!:rotfl: JK Debbie!!!!!!!!!!:rotfl2:

I am sitting here, Olympic nerd that I am, watching the replay of last night. It was so beautiful. Megan has to be at practice at 6:45am. Poor kid. No more sleeping late before school starts, 2 wks from Mon. We have chores and shopping to do today. There's a pool party for the band families at the public pool tonight. After church tomorrow, she'll go w/the church youth to a big water park. It's so blasted hot! Not sure what we will do tomorrow. We do have more back to school shopping.

Cammie - I have been meaning to ask about Amanda too.

Have a great day, all!!

Pam- Iwatched last night and thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen. The lighting of the Olympic torch was just amazing how they even came up with that idea.

SSR seemed so nice passing it each day from POFQ to DTD on the boat. We loved it and thought if we ever purchesed it would be there.

Renee- I was just kidding about the texts. It is how I live my life that thing is attached to me all day long. No one calls anymore. My aunt is a flight attendant and my brother and cousins are still teenagers so they are always texting me. I wouldn't go near that thing at a $1 a pop. Do you have an old plan? We pay $109/month for unlimited calling texting and I pay extra for GPS and Ringback tones (Disney of course)
I haven't added anyone to my phone contact list yet.

Kara- How was your date? We use Gift Cert. when we go out too. No one ever knows what to get us so we get a ton of them. Never playing BINGO though:woohoo:

Cammie- That concert looks like so much fun. I only go to Bon Jovi Concerts it is a rule. They are so expensive now:eek: Mike goes to Jimmy Buffett and I go to Bon Jovi although we both missed those concerts this year due to 2 Disney trips.

Well I feel like I want to divorce my PIA husband. It is becoming such an effort to deal with him anymore. He is always complaining that I ONLY stay home with Luca and that I need to get a job and contribute. Remind me what do I do all day long? TAKE CARE OF OUR SON!!!!! Also nothing I do is ever good enough anymore. I clean the house " Well What about the Laundry?" Take Badookie to the park " Well why aren't you home?" "There are things that need to be done" UGGH I don't know if this is normal husband behavior or not. Any Advice?

Good morning! My we had some late nighters and early risers today! When do you girls sleep?

So many posts to respond to:

Jillian - Men make me so mad when they pull that "you need to get a job" attitude. Does he ever consider what child care costs would be IF you did go back to work. I swear, I know some people who seem to just be working to afford someone to watch their kids when they work.

So, now don't laugh, but I have this old column from Dear Abby on my fridge: in an article from USA Today from 5/2006, "Salary.com compensation experts estimate that SAHM work an average of 91.6 hours a week." That's more than double what the avg.office worker puts in. The article went on to say, "that should be worth $134,121 annually." The article went on to quote compensation analysts as figuring the lowest-paying part of a mother's job are "housekeeper, laundry machine operator, and janitor. Higher-paying categories include computer operator, facilities manager, psychologist, and CEO." So the next time, Mr. Mike gives you a hard time about not working, tell him you already do, you just don't get a salary for it!;)

Tammie - Glad you're on board with SSR. I'm staying there for the first time for a few nights in Feb. with Lauren. I wish I could contribute my DVC pts. also, but now that I'm taking these little trips with Lauren, I don't have any left over.

I'm going to post pix here of the place today. It does look lovely; and like Tammie said, depending on what building you get put in, you can be w/in walking distance of DTD. Yes, Renee -- DTD has alot of shops, restaurants, and nightclubs. But it's broken into parts: The Marketplace is where most of the main shops are: World of Disney; Scrapbooking Store; Christmas shop, Goofy's Candy Treats, etc; Pleasure Island has alot of the restaurants: Raglan Road, Fulton's, Portabella. The further into Pleasure Island, there are a bunch of night clubs but as of this Sept., they are closing and Disney is re-doing that whole section. The last part if The West Side: there are some restaurants there: Wolfgang Puck's place; House of Blues, etc. This is also where Cirque de Soleil and DisneyQuest are located. Getting the picture now?

I missed the Olympics last night - forgot they were on!:headache: Instead I watched "Gone, Baby, Gone" that movie that was directed by Ben Affleck. It's about a missing child; very good, but disturbing.

Amanda is doing great everybody, thanks for asking! Her mouth looks 10 times better! I've been able to stop all pain meds. since last monday. Only problem now is, since her gums were cut and all her teeth are now exposed, she's bitten the side of her mouth. Not a big cut, but still a little bothersome. It's always going to be something. Anyway, the surgeon saw her again yesterday and thought everything looked great. We'll go back in Oct. to see if her teeth are lining up properly; if not, he can just pull the ones he needs to right in his office. Seems like she's on the right track!

Ok, my post has gotten long enough. I'm off to find pix of SSR to post here. Later!

So today I'm really *****ie and I have a wedding to go to later today. Why can't I just sit in my bedroom alone and be miserable. DH and I have been fighting so that's never good and now I'm fighting with the girls. I think I'll just go back to bed.

WOWWIE! I swonnie! Being from these here sticks, I culdn't magine that all them purdy lights wuld b so close to that there place! Lookey at how beutiful them are! I reckon I'd like to stay in one of them those mansions one day!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Seriously, I never imagined it to be THAT close to DTD - wow!

I had things quoted, walked away, and now I don't remember what all I had marked -

Jillian - I've certainly dealt with the same things. When we finally sat down and talked about it after we picked at each other for a month - it turned out he was projecting on me because he felt like I was getting to experience all the firsts with the kids, and he was really missing out. I don't know what to say other than I've definately been there - and no it isn't fun. The job you are doing is so valuable! Seriously!

Cammie - I love the little quote - I actually remember that one! I'm so glad Amanda is doing better. :flower3:

Tammie - My DSB that is going ot Iraq is PT National Guard now. He didn't think he'd have to go, but looks like they are.

Okay, I'm sure I was going to comment on more, but I can't remember now. I'm working on my canvas again today - and Mia's new bedding came in! :cool1:

Kara, you will really have to meet us in March so Jim will know you are not a stalker! :lmao:

I'm sort of a stalker. But I'm fun so that's all that matters, right? :rotfl2:

Well, I'm home alone and I'm drinking alone! Poor me!:sad1:

I hear George Thorougood warming up for ya!

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
Honey, you know me well. I had already hit that quote button before I got down to the last sentence! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

BINGO
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

:confused3 Have fun at you cabana. Will it be a late night date? Better be home by 8 before it gets dark - and don't forget Jeff's Bifocals! :rotfl: Hey - don't forget to register for craft night - and maybe see if you can get into the "Sweating to the Oldies" class! :lmao:

Okay - DH is dying for some attention, lucky me! I'll catch up with you tomorrow and read the rest of the posts - this is as far as I got tonight.

See??? I KNEW you'd reply to that!!!! :rotfl2:

Okay, now I'm getting excited! We could do a group PTR and TR!!!

LOVE THAT IDEA!!! We could all chime in hear and there - we should try to think of some ideas for a catchy title!!! Probably don't want to disclose the EXACT dates we're going. Let's start thinking of a title and maybe start it in a few months, once we've narrowed down some things? :thumbsup2

Any Advice?

Been there, done that. But it's a bit different. I do work, and up until about 2 years ago, we made almost the same income. So my job was really important to us and our standard of living. I'm fortunate that I can work from home now and so there is no after school care anymore, and I can be here for Ally, but when she was a baby, there were times it was sooooo hard to be a working mother.

Ask Mike, if you go back to work, is he going to be able to take time off work to stay home with Badookie if he's sick? Take time off for doctors appts? Cause you can't do it all, or your employer will think of you like my old boss did - that it's a mistake to hire mothers. Seriously, my boss understood, but he and I had that talk many times, and he's right! When both parents work, it's usually the mother that has to take off all the time for a sick child. And that is so unfair.

Also, I'm assuming that daycare in your area is around $200/wk? OK, let's go with that just for my example. That's $10K/year. Figure in your gas and car expenses. I know I'm saving over $3K/year by not working outside the home. Then there is wardrobe, eating out lunches, etc. So let's go with a conservative $15K/year that you would be spending, just to work outside the home. If Mike is not willing to share the stay at home responsibilities with you (oh, and for fun, throw in a cleaning lady twice a month at $100 each visit for a total of another $2400/year, cause if you're working you don't need to be cleaning!!!). So now we're at $17K/year. Again, is Mike going to help with laundry? How about staying home with Badookie? Cause if you go back to work, you want to go back as a good employee, not one that can't be counted on cause you never know when you'll be out for something child related. That's a big issue for me.

Oh, and he'd better be prepared to either help cook OR clean up after dinner each night.

So that's just my $.02. But you're not alone.....

OK, I just got the evil eye from Jeff for not hanging out with him. But I have a very entertaining story about today.... It involves in-law math and this "halfway" point they picked to meet for the Ally exchange....

But Ally is home!!! :cloud9:

Yay about Ally being home!

Don't leave us hanging about your inlaw story; you better come back tonite.

So what did you think of the SSR photos? Pretty huh? And, I totally agree with you about the pre-trippie. It would be fun to start it together; and we could all chime in with our own comments. I think we should start it around the beginning of the new year - right around the time we get to the "real" firm planning. :thumbsup2

Should we start bouncing around ideas for a catchy title? Afterall, a catchy title is what hooks the reader! (yeah, I wrote a newsletter when I had a job in the real world! So I know all the inside industry secrets!)

Cammie - catchy titles - hum.... I'll have to think on that one! What about "Scr*w the family, I'm taking my DIS buddies to Disney!" :rotfl2: :lmao: I'd give it less than 24 hours before the moderator shuts it down! :rotfl2:

Seriously, you guys are much better at the whitty stuff than me - but I think writing one together would be fun. I never would go out and make one up on my own (because I see all the time you guys have to be putting into it) but I enjoy reading and putting in a comment here or there. So count me in - at least waiting until closer to the new year makes it "easier" - gives me some time to think on it! :)

Kara - aren't you close to getting Ally back home?

I'm still working on my project. I've been taking pictures during the process. I don't know why it is killing me that Cammie doesn't get what I'm doing, but come h*ll or highwater tonight, I'm going to make her get it! :rotfl2:

SO .... My Best Friend sells Stampin Up (scrapbook stuff) and wants me to have a party. I had been planning on having a Pampered Chef party since I want to get some pieces for my family for Christmas. Obviously, I can't be a party queen and have both - suggestions on what to do? I've tried to have a scrapbook party, and my circle just isn't in to doing it and won't come. :confused3 I don't want to hurt her feelings, so I"m thinking about "booking" one in two weeks and throwing my Pampered Chef party to the curb. :sad1:

Okay so I just re-read your post and I skipped so much! YOU WROTE A NEWSLETTER???? Well, then you and Ms. Domestic Diva/English Major should be able to get a good one going for our trip!

Kara - just saw that Ally comes back tomorrow :cool1:

And I thought the SSR photos looked great! I like it being close to DTD. Don't really know what DTD is all about - but me close to a scrapbook store! J/K! (sorta) :lmao: So do they ferry you across or something? The property looks beautiful though.

DId I miss this anwer - is it the one with the SPA?

Tammie - you may know more about SSR since you "own" there.

Tammie & Cammie - if you used your family's points for any means of helping me out on this DIS trip I would kick your tooshies - Seriously - for YOUR FAMILY. Plus - maybe I'm looking at it wrong, but when you divide the room by 4, it gets cheaper than a Holiday Inn Express! :confused3 :rotfl2:

Renee - What are you drinking tonite?;) Your posts crack me up!

Ally came back today. As far as you and your craftiness, I can't keep up with what you're doing. I see pictures of new desks; pink ribbon and pearls; and Snow White. I have no idea what is going on in that house of yours!

Yes, in my former life, I actually had real responsibilities that I got paid for. I worked for a major life insurance co. - The Equitable (now called AXA Financial). I was the managing editor and photographer for their internal newsletter. I also worked in the conference planning dept. - got to travel to alot of 4-star resorts, write speeches for co. exes. and take pictures at conferences - all expenses charged to my corp. card, of course. Man, those were the days!:cloud9:

Yes, SSR has a spa. Depending on what building you're put in, you can walk to DTD; or you can take a boat. Either way, it's very close. Didn't I send you a pm with more info on DTD? You'll LOVE the scrapbook store at DTD - lots of cool Disney-themed stuff, not just for scrapbooking. Also has wrapping paper, note pads, etc. The Christmas store is great there too; and, don't forget - Goofy's Candy Co!!!

Hey - anyone know where you can get dental instruments?

I need one of those hook scrapers that they use for tarter.

Calm down Kara - it is for SCRAPBOOKING. The machine I have sells a kit that has that and other things I already have for $29. I don't want to buy it for that much when all I need is that hook pick.

Renee SSR does have a spa. DTD is great dining options are fun and there is a ton of shopping. I have birnbaums guide and it explains everything. I suggest it. I love the title for the pre trippie

I want to thank everyone for there 2 cents. I will be having the discussion with him tomorrow AM. For Mike it is all money related and when I went back to work after Badookie was born I was responsible for everything. I couldn't handle it anymore that is why I stayed at home. He just needs to get his act together.

Cammie- SSR is amazing LOVE the pics. Have we decided on any dates yet?

Kara- can't wait to hear about Ally's trip

Renee SSR does have a spa.

I just saw your post - guess we were posting at the same time. You know that is EXACTLY how I ended up at home. WE both had jobs we couldn't miss work whenever and realized it was going to be a huge issue between us if one had to drop everything and be "in trouble" with work. Second - for me it would have meant leaving him at the daycare at 5:30 and picking him up at 6 pm - their closing time. With a 7pm bedtime, it became just stupid. Plus I had clothing, lunches, gas, etc to deal with. I am glad you guys are talking it over.

Need another laugh tonight ? I'm sitting here working on my Belle now, and there is a knat in here. Keeps buzzing around the computer. So I'm trying to clap my hands together & kill it. I think I've done it about 30 times. If someone were up here sitting on the couch, they'd think I have lost it! ONe minute I'm working on my stuff, the next I'm clapping my hands! :rotfl2:
