Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

We have the Verizon family plan: $99/month; 700 minutes; unlimited text and pix messaging; free calls to other verizon phones; $9.95 for each additional line. The kicker is I hardly use the minutes because everyone texts me! Can't get anything lower than the 700 though w/out giving up the free text.!

Good morning everyone.

I enjoyed looking at the pictures. I don't know everyone yet though so can't really comment on anything.

We don't have a text message plan, that I'm aware of anyway. I never text. We have Verizon where we never use up all our minutes etiher. DD was at music camp, long distance, called talked to me every night for about 20-30 minutes and since we have free evening/weekend calls, basically that didn't even count. :rotfl2: DD doesn't really use her phone all that much even after all the begging. She got it in October of 7th grade, I checked the minutes in December and she has used it a whopping whole 10 minutes total & probably 5 of those were to my cell phone.

Good news is I haven't gotten any calls from cheer camp, so that's a GOOD sign...one less thing to worry about at the moment. I can cross that off my list and add something else onto it.

OK, so Ally is going back with Jeff's parents next week. That will be nice for us, even though I know I'll miss her like crazy!!!

But my boss kind of wants me to go to Chattanooga, TN, for a little training, so I might drive up while Ally is in SC, and then pick her up on my way home. I'd have to drive to the inlaws, spend the night, and then get the heck out of there the next day!!! But at least we wouldn't have to drive too far to get her the next weekend. But I really don't want to drive 7 hrs to Chattanooga either! My boss offered to fly me up there, but I HATE to fly - I'd rather take the .42/mile and rent a car that's good on gas. I'm sure I"d break even that way. So I'm waiting to hear back from him if he even wants me to come up there.

Hi everyone. We got in last night, but have been having computer problems. Our computer is old (DH doesn't think 2000 is old, but it is Soooooo Slow!) and having virtual memory issues (namely when he saves too much to the desktop :rolleyes1 ) so I get to do the cleanup for it to work right until he does it again (aka. Tonight) MEN!

Our trip to see DSIL was good. No labor. BUT, me being the control freak I am, I think I helped her out. She had everything in boxes. Bed not put together, all things - not put together. SO... I got her a cabinet ready for bottles in the kitchen, untagged all the clothes, washed and hung them, got her bed together, ironed the bedding, went to Babies R Us and got her the necessities, took back her returns, put her pack-n-play, changing table, and other stuff together and put the carseats in. SO... she should be in good shape, and I need a week in the bed! :rotfl2:

I tell you, I think she has this week to go at most. We thought she'd have the baby Sat night, but she didn't. I feel so bad for her. She is so miserable. My DBIL keeps promising to do stuff (aka - why I had to do all that stuff) and it doesn't get done. MEN!

Drug the kids to the next to last swim lesson knowing that was not what I wanted to do. WELL, my lucky day! LAST ONE!! :yay: NO more sweating to death for 45 minutes! :yay:

Okay, so of to see what all I missed. You gals burned through some pages while I was gone, I see! ;)

Okay - I"m reading backwards. BUT that is only about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from someones house. :rolleyes1

We're back and Mason did great! It was a day surgery, and he woke up quickly from the general anesthesia. we have Relay for Life all night tonight - I'll be giving foot massages to those walking.
Tammie - so glad that Mason did well, the party went great and you were so kind to do the foot massages. Sounds wonderful!!!

We live within 2 miles of each other. I
You could WALK to my mom's house from ours. Barely ever see them!. :sad2:

Love the picture of Ally! And the picture of Bigfoot in a thong too!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm so jealous of that trip - the pictures look :cloud9: !!!!

Kara - The back porch looks like it's going to be gorgeous! OK LADIES - I THINK I KNOW WHERE WE SHOULD HAVE OUR DISMEET! I can just picture Jeff out there cooking and mixing drinks for us, Kara!

Renee - Are you back yet? Any baby news?
!
I agree with CAmmie - :rolleyes1!!!!

Debbie - love the pix!!!

The kicker is I hardly use the minutes because everyone texts me! Can't get anything lower than the 700 though w/out giving up the free text.!
WE have an old plan - one that I keep telling Carlos is a pain. We spend $59 but get like 200 minutes - free calls to anyone with Verizon, texting is $1 to send, .40 to receive. But Cammie - I thought they had a $5 a month fee for unlimited texts if you added it on? Might be worth looking into for you. Our minutes always go over. We totally need to update ours.

Talked to SIL this morning. She is still preggo. Miserably so. I don't think it will be much longer. She's pretty much in prelabor now. Had contracations about 2 an hour and ummm--- to constantly go to the bathroom all weekend. I can't wait to show off my niece! .:lovestruc

Kara - got you as close as I'm going to get for the "real" lasagna recipe. You're Martha enough you just might pull it off! :lmao:

Okay, so should I take it personal that you burn through pages while I'm gone, and then I try to catch up and I see people on and cricuts chirpping? :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

I'm off to get some lunch and run an errand or two. HOPEFULLY SOMEONE WILL BE OUT TO PLAY LATER! ;)

I'm in and out today. Was going to take Amanda to see Wall-E; but she is totally asleep right now - completely out! I don't want to disrupt her so it will have to wait for another day!

I do NOT look forward to Fall! I LOVE summer and everything about it and I don't want Elizabeth to be in kindergarten!!!:guilty:

Wish mine was still in Kindergarten. She is starting high school, and pressing the issue of driver's ed and a car! OMG! I am so not ready for that! Your pictures are awesome! The kids are adorable. It looks like you all do so many activities and have so much fun! Awesome Mom!!

Let's see other than the normal freak out with school starting and sending 2 off to brand new schools, one being a Freshman.

From one hovering mom to another - I have a freshman this year too, and can appreciate your stories! We don't start school until Aug 25, but I will be the one constantly calling to find out info, because a lot of it doesn't come home w/my kid!!! I had to laugh at the driving stories too! I got a GPS, the least expensive Garmin, then ended up getting one for my hubby for Father's Day. We love them!, and I am totally dependent on mine!!

Should I go here????????????????
zaclrg3.jpg

Yes, you SHOULD!!!! Taylor got this poster!! She is 10!! I told her that I should be hanging it up in MY room! I do not think that DH would appreciate it too much. He is tolerable of the small Patrick Dempsey pic I have posted on the inside of our closet, but this might be pushing it!!!:rotfl2:

Well, the paramedic just left after giving us our quick physicals, drawing blood, all that stuff. And I'm disgusted to say that I have officially gained back 15 pounds since we've moved!!!! Jeff doesn't want me to go back to JC cause he knows I'll buy their food at about $80/week, so I guess I'll just try really hard to eat right, try to keep at 1200 calories a day, drink tons of water, and get in some exercise. What a wake up call that scale was this morning!!!!

Kara - I am constantly fighting the pounds! Working out 3x/week at the Y has made me firmer, but I have lost NOTHING! Could be the summer ice cream I love so much...:rolleyes1 Your beach pics are wonderful! Ally is a cutie!
2008_0727Bucky0056.jpg

OMG! I was scrolling down slowly, and thought that you were serious, that this WAS Ryan! I mean Jeff!! I was trying to think of how I would comment! I am not the fan of a Speedo swimsuit for men on the beach, not even the hunky ones! Well, maybe Zac or Patrick. Not on the beach, maybe the bedroom. I better stop while I am ahead!!

I also thought that you Photo shopped Capt Jack! How funny!!!:lmao: Glad you all had fun!!

Kara - The back porch looks like it's going to be gorgeous! OK LADIES - I THINK I KNOW WHERE WE SHOULD HAVE OUR DISMEET! I can just picture Jeff out there cooking and mixing drinks for us, Kara!

I am so there!! I agree, Kara! This is going to look fabulous! What a great view!

Hi everyone. We got in last night, but have been having computer problems. Tonight) MEN!

Renee! I agree! MEN! It sounds like you had a very busy weekend, and I am sure your SIL is very appreciative! Axiously awaiting those baby pics! Is that your first neice/nephew?

Okay - I"m reading backwards. BUT that is only about 1 1/2 - 2 hours from someones house. :rolleyes1

Oh, I'm slow! I thought you meant Mickey's house! OK - YOUR house! Totally not fair!:headache:

Hi to everyone else!!!!!:flower3:

Camie and Tammie - I am going shopping AGAIN tonight, to get THE jacket, the $60 sweat/skateboarder jacket. Taylor is so excited! I just need to keep her from wearing it before school starts! It was only 105 yesterday!:sad2:

what Pam 105 is to cold to wear the coat? hahaha. I dread the day that I will be there. I am lucky that we have uniforms.

Did I tell you guys that I got "nominated" to be the treasurer for PTO. Actual 2 girlfriends told me I was going to do it. Gotta love them. It will be fun. I did say I would if they couldn't find anyone else. Oh well it will be a fun year.

Kara- I fell off of my chair laughing. That guys is scary. That the vision I get when I think of when I think of FL.

Off to get the girls hair cut.

OK, your rambling totally had me cracking up!!!! :rotfl2:

It is raining and gloomy here... AGAIN! Sunshine state my ****!

Laura - I wish we did have uniforms! Because we've never had them, I am all for them! I am sure that if we did, I wouldn't want them. PTO Treasurer is a big job! Congrats!? It is fun!! I am hoping that someone else volunteers to be the room parent for Taylor's class, but as they get older, less parents volunteer. W/working full time, it's easier for me to just be a helper and send stuff in, and go to the parties if I am able to. I have made 99% of them! This is her last year of elementary and parties, and my last, since she's my baby.:sad1:

It is raining and gloomy here... AGAIN! Sunshine state my ****!

Kara - Send a little our way!! It's over 100 for the next 5 days...Get me outta here!!

Debbie - What is a swan bite? :confused3 I have to Google it. I Google everything!

OK - I didn't know if Panty Man would be edited....

Just noticed that he doesn't have a belly button! He is Kyle XY's dad!!! (Megan watched that show - the guy didn't have one!)

I have to get out of here!..........

I really *should* get a GPS one of these days. It's a wishlist item for me. I am SO the type of person they made them for. Poor Debbie got to listen to me have a total freak out with attempting to get to the Allstate Arena from my house (I really *should* have just paid the extra $$$$$$$ for the limo to the High School Musical concert! What the hey, I was already paying a gazillion dollars for it, at that point what's a few more! I didn't want to because you had to pay for them to sit there during the concert BUT after the traffic/parking fiasco -- I'm pretty sure it would have been worth every penny!!!). Of course, this is also why I showed up 2 hours EARLY for the HSM on Ice show....I was completely beside myself worried with traffic & getting lost because at the concert the re-routed us & I know good & well I had NEVER driven a road that had a gate that went by the airport before. When we went to the ice show, it just confirmed I wasn't insane -- took the exit I needed and turned left into the parking lot. That was how I knew where to go.

I'm fine with driving per se except when they throw detours on me -- just throws me into a total panic if I'm in an area I don't know. Coming home from Disney were were about an hour away & something must have happened because the police made us detour. Sadly it was into some cornfields that didn't have marked streets -- was extremely hard to find out where we were on the map without any street signs. We did know we were going North & knew we wanted to go that way -- figured eventually we would find something and eventually we DID find one that said "Route 30 -- that way" -- I was never so excited in my life -- I had already determined several roads "if we find this one or this or this one..." and 30 was one of them. That was about midnight so it was pitch black in the cornfields too. We still joke how we can get all the way to Florida and have no problems, get nearly back home from the long road trip & basically get lost in our own backyard. I'm just thankful we weren't re-routed in some other state or we would have been in BIG, BIG trouble (although DH was with us, so he's a bit more rational than I am for getting lost -- I just do it more.)

My DD always jokes that the HS is already going "Whose turn is it to talk to Becky?" It's from an insurance company ad where BOB is calling all the time and at the end of the ad, someone goes "Whose turn is it to talk to Bob?" I tell you though whoever writes the forms aren't specific enough for us Freshman parents. They REALLY need to be detailed such as "pre-registration is held in the Athletic office, which is located by the Gymnasium doors on the north side of the building, on these dates"

Would that have been so hard to add? Instead of "Pre-registration for cheer, dance & 9th gradefootball Monday 12-4" Is what was on my letter -- there were other dates but it just listed sports, times you could come in. That would be great for Sophmore, Juniors & Seniors -- I'm sure the parents knew the unwritten obvious place to go is the Athletic office.

I just can't wait until registration day for Freshman -- I can only imagine the 50,000 things that we are going to need to know & only get part answers assuming I know the unspoken parts (or DD does -- she might though), the only saving grace on that one is I think they *know* 90% of the people there will be clueless -- so maybe all the parents can help each other out with the "did you know?" Our school does a volunteer program the kids can get recognition for, found out the food boths the girls were required to work for cheerleading & gymnastics counted for that. I had no idea!!!! I just thought her hours at the animal shelter, church, etc... counted but since she was doing the other things as part of being on the cheer squad, didn't realize it would.

Of course, this is going to be a funky Freshman year for us anyway because it will be unusual in the middle. Then I have one starting Middle School and he has an IEP (so special ed) -- I've been the MS route before but never one with an IEP, so that will be different. Lots of things I have to find out about for first time (he's supposed to have 2 sets of books, I have to figure out when that's going to happen, etc...). To top that off, my 3rd graders school is undergoing a HUGE construction project. Our school district just happened to have an empty elementary school for this school year (VERY unusual situation) and it was decided that all the kids will move over to the new building vs. trying to work around construction. So, he will be sent off on a bus -- we are in walking distance of his regular school. I will be sending all 3 of mine off on a bus this year -- that will be WEIRD -- I'm not sure I'll know what to do with myself the first couple weeks as I won't have to take anyone to school per se.

Becky - :rotfl: I am sure that our HS will know me pretty well very quickly also. I am one that is never afraid to be at the school or call when I have a question/problem. Despite pleas from my DDs....JK. I think that the kids are very grateful when us parents are involved. I was even allowed to eat lunch w/Megan this year, but was told that it would probably not happen in HS. Oh well...:sad1: They grow up so fast.

We are w/AT&T (used to be Cingular), and we love it. Coverage is good, hardly any dropped calls...We pay just at $100/mo for 4 phones - 450 mins., unlimited family texting/5000 N&W, unlimited M2M, 3 of them are $10/mo. We get a slight discount thru Darrin's employer. I just looked at our current bill, and I sent/received more texts than Megan - over 300! Only slightly more than her. I get my horoscope, entertainment news, celebrity bdays, and I text the kids and only a few friends. I don't have a keyboard phone, so it is a slow process for me.

Good news - Darrin talked to his sister about the upcoming IL's 50th party, and she agreed to let their mom & dad pay for the open bar. I was so relieved! I know that's awful, and I feel bad for feeling that way, but I do...It looks like we (and that means ME!) will be doing most of the work, since they don't live close, she doesn't have a compatable pc - they have a Mac, and they don't have a printer that would do nice invitations w/pics.... I know I am complaning an awful lot, it will be fun and greatly appreciated by ILs, but :headache: Double :headache: !! Thanks for listening!!

:confused3 First, anyone got some light pasta recipe to share? I'm wanting some chicken/bowtieish thing with light sauce with flavor. Anyone have anything like that? Not cold though, hot.:confused3

I'm in and out today. Was going to take Amanda to see Wall-E; but she is totally asleep right now - completely out! I don't want to disrupt her so it will have to wait for another day!
I took Nicolas opening weekend. I don't know. I just felt the movie a bit slow. Good to watch, but just so-so to me. Didn't live up to the hype. Even Nicolas must have thought that too, becuase he dropped his big obsession for it right after seeing the movie. :confused3 I know it isn't Disney - but Madagascar 2 is coming out in August. That is a must see for us!

Renee! I agree! MEN! It sounds like you had a very busy weekend, and I am sure your SIL is very appreciative! Axiously awaiting those baby pics! Is that your first neice/nephew?:
Shamefully, no. I have a nephew and a niece. I don't know, we don't see them so much, etc. DSIL that is pregnant is also an only child- and I love her to pieces. She's much more like a sister. Seriously, we talk at least an hour just about every day. She is the one person who I know would take care of my kids if something happened to us both!!! She even has college funds set up for my kids. LOVE HER!

I'm sure she is appreciative. She isn't like SOME peoples SIL. (uh hum... KARA) :rotfl:

Speaking of Kara - You can have your nice little patio. I've one upped you. :snooty: Guess who got to talk to Camilla? :lmao: :rotfl2: (And BTW Cammie - you do not sound like Camilla. Maybe that chick from Goodfellas.... :rotfl2: :rotfl2: )

Now, now, girls - don't fight over me! (and, btw, any TRUE Soprano fan would know that Mrs. Soprano's name is Carmela!)
