Debbie - I think they're redo-ing the whole dining reservation system; for awhile, you'll only be able to make ADRs 90 days out. There's also a rumor that they are working towards being able to make ADRs online.

And, I thought that bridge was going to be closed for longer than that.

The Magic Kingdom has introduced a new vehicle for Grand Marshals with a uniquely Disney touch -- Mickey Mouse tread designs on all four tires and the spare tire attached to the rear. The new car now carries guests of honor down the park's daily parade route in grand style. To fit the theme of Main Street, USA, the Grand Marshal vehicle was designed after a 1912 touring car. The design also allows guests in wheelchairs to board easily and ride in the main seating area.

OMG I want these tires for my car! Wouldn't that just be the best to be leaving Mickey tracks wherever you drove!

Did you see the pix of the tires?

Did you see the pix of the tires?

No but how cute would that look in the street as you pulled away! I think it might even help me deal with winter better too if I was leaving Mickey tracks in the dirty snow!:lmao:

Karajeboo - that is what they are saying that the had the card in hand when they made the purchase. We've asked for copies of the receipts.

LOVE THE TIRES!!!

I hope they do allow you to make ADRs online - that would be so much more easier!!!

Debbie - I read that the ADR window is now 90 days (effective Oct) but anyone who has already booked out 180 days up to January date is okay. Once that Oct date hits, you can only book 90 days from that date, and from then out.

OK, new recipe!

It might be easier to give you the link, then if you can't pull it up, let me know.

It's www.recipezaar.com/147494
Smells very yummy!

I am definitely going to try this!

I'm sorry to hear you spent so much time in the hospital cammie. How long will she be in there? I know you talked about her being in for a while.

Kara you are so motivated.

Renee- totally understand not wanting to do the drive. SM must really be a piece of work.

Jillian- we had wine, beer and soda at our reception. The place wouldn't allow a cash bar. No way was I going to pay $9/person for hard liquour. Okay that was 10 yrs ago but still out bill for the night was $4000+. That was a lot for Tim and I but it was well worth it. We had the wedding and the reception in the same place, an old mansion in Minneapolis. It was neutral turf. His family is Catholic and mine is Lutheran. We had my pastor officate. Weddings can't please everyone.

Debbie I love those tires. Can you imagine driving in the snow with them. Hello snowbank, still I would love to see that mark in the snow.

It would be great to make your ressies on line for ADRs. It would help keep track of things.

Gotta run. Caught what Beth had. I think it is the Flu. I ache from top to bottom and have a nasty fever. Who was it Kara said we are getting each other sick thru the computer?? :)

I think I see the HGTV crew out back! It's an episode of "House Hunters" and there's a short fat couple named Arnie and Amy ARMADILLO!!!! Looks like they're trying to choose a yard to dig up!!! I hate those ugly fat little things! And they totally destroy our yard! Bucky spotted them out in the woods and believe it or not, he did not chase after them. I kept watching him inch further into the woods until I called him. That's when I spotted my newest neighbors. AARRGGHH!!!!

More Adventures in Floridaland! :rotfl2: I think they are so cute, but I don't have any digging up my yard....

Your room sounds really great! Have you seen Domestications? Some of their stuff is actually pretty nice, and good prices. I have ordered a few times. you can find it on www.domestications.com, also.

cool then we could really see what all of your drama was about.

Back from the pool. Beth and Katherine are slowing becoming chocolate colored. There is no ethnic blood in Tim or I whatsoever. I really am putting sunscreen 45 waterproof on these girls. One of thes days I will have to photograph it.

Yes, we want pics of your chocolate girls!

Hi guys! Quick stop by for now. I just got in from Amanda's pre-op appt. in Boston; I was told to expect it to take 2-2 1/2 hours - well it took over 4 HOURS! We left at 9:15 this morning and got back at 4pm. I'm so freakin' tired!!!! Seriously, I have sheer body exhaustion. Amanda was a trooper though - had blood drawn;EKG; x-rays - she did fine. Felt bad for Lauren; I don't usually drag her to these things but I knew I could really use the help so I told she had to come. Promised we'd grab some lunch when we were done - which I THOUGHT would be around 12:30. Nope, didn't finish with the hospital business unti 2:30; the poor thing was starving!

I'll catch up with what I missed later and check back in. Hope everyone had a good day!

I'm sorry your pre-op day was such a pain! They did the pre-op pretty early, it seems.

Karajeboo - you have totally turned me off from ever moving to FL!! Our first incident with an armadillo was at Disney Fort Wilderness campgrounds to be exact. We were walking from the boat dock to our trailer after seeing the fireworks. The girls were totally pumped about the colors and the lights and then we hear this strange noise. I thought it was Jacob Marley coming from the grave dragging his chains down the walkway. :scared1: We all turn our flashlights and it's an armadillo. I thought DD5 was going to jump on my shoulders she was so scared of it. Let's see; you've got copperhead snakes, scorpions, pametto bugs and armadillos. Yup, no matter how big I love the MOUSE, he can't make me get over those things!

So I've done nothing with the curtains. They are now in a ball on the floor on top of my sewing machine. However I think I'm going to make myself a skirt with fabric I bought to make a top. :headache: The madness never ends.

OH, other great news. DH found ANOTHER mysterious charge on our Disney VISA credit card!!! This one clearly not ours!! Someone ibought $40 worth of Children's Art in FL on June 5th and it definitely wasn't us because we were up here in MA!! This is the second time we're going to have to cancel the card because someone charged something on our Disney VISA card and it wasn't us. This time at least it wasn't too much money, the last time was $600 out of Taiwan. If it wasn't for the reward points I'd say screw the card.

DID YOU CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT LATELY!!

Thanks for the warning about the credit cards! I would be in big trouble right now if someone clones my debit card!

Hiya all -just a quick fly by...... still busy busy busy - school ends tomorrow though...

Party for DD(6 now) was great, all girls so lots of fun and dancing and crafts and pizza and cake and chocolate -why don't people run parties like that for us grown-ups!!!!!!!!!

And I am soooo envious of you with the armadillos - I am fascinated by the little creatures!! We hoped to see them when we went over - wrong season apparently?? Is there really an "armadillo season"?? Saw some in September/October time before though - but they were all flat!! On the side of the roadways...

Anyhow, got to go supervise some kids - sunny times at the minute......

Tessa

Hi Tessa! I'm glad your party went so well!

Hello,
I am a new Dis-er ,but a veteran worry wart, so I wanted to ask y'all something about our first trip to the World this August. I have a very tall 2 year old who is always getting mistaken for 3. We weren't planning on buying admission for him. Do I need to bring some proof of his age to prove that I have a 2 not 3 year old? We are flying from VA, so I didn't ever think I would need any kind of I.D. for the kids, but now I am wondering.

TIA:cool2:

Welcome Tia! My youngest was 3 turning 4 when we went to DL - we had him in a stroller. At that time, it was free for under 4 - they made us take him out of the stroller so they could judge his size... You might want to bring a copy of his Birth Cert. just to be safe. They can probably also tell that a 2 yr old is still somewhat of a baby? Happy planning - we love to help, so jump in!

Hi Gang!

What are your guys thoughts on the devise of Pleasure Island? I don't really care.

My spoiled kids have gone from being in Wisconsin for 5 days to a Cubs game, then the water park, Taste of Park Ridge & carnival, baby shower, camp and Kiddie Land to another pool day! Talk about lucky kids! I can't wait to share pix when I get my butt moving to upload them!!

Debbie! We miss you! We were planning to go to Adventure Club in March, so I'm bummed. We finally get some adult time when we know what to do, and the adult things are going away.

Sounds like your kids had a great vacation! I'm glad you made the time. How is the Summer House thing coming?

Jillian, we do both open and cash bars here. Some people have an open bar up to a set limit. When that limit is reached, the bartenders just tell people that the drinks are now cash. We had a cash bar for Mark's wedding (our youngest) as he and Lindsay don't drink, weren't even old enough to drink and we didn't want their friends drinking - we only had the bar to please certain members of her family. Otherwise she wouldn't have wanted any bar. For Ryan's wedding, we rented a hall and had it catered by a BBQ place - so we brought and poured champagne for the tables, and had a bucket of beer and pop and a punch fountain - the bride's family set up a pretty good DIY bar, and Jim's uncle volunteered to be the bar tender and made margaritas and strawberry daiquari's all night. There was quite a bit more drunkeness, and I was a little concerned about safety, but I guess everyone was Okay.

Well, I gotta go get ready for church - I'll finish catching up tomorrow!

Laura, I hope you feel better by tomorrow!

I'm all caught up - Martha, that recipe looks good - how did it turn out?

Debbie - those tires are really cute! Maybe the local tire store will get them here! :rotfl2:

Hiya,

tinalala - Sorry about your card problems.... our card was cloned in Florida this year - apparently it was used IN PERSON in Austria (yep the one in Europe), Florida and Kentucky ON THE SAME DAY (also by me in the UK too...) !!!! So the card company stopped ours for us and sorted it out - thank goodness!!! We have lost nothing and the card issuer got us a new card really quickly too. I was sooooo impressed. I don't suppose you get Tesco Personal Finance over there, but they are worth a mention!

Oh, and our kids break up for summer 3pm today and go back to school on the 3rd Sept..

Tessa

Oh, my dad retired from Michelin, wonder who makes them? And these would leave great marks in the sand on the beach (sorry, just HAD to do it! :lmao: ), or in the hurricane ravaged water logged streets! :rotfl2:

I beat ya!

Kara...but are they saying it will stay 90 days out?

Yes, that's what I understand, except for V&As and one other one I can't remember.

His family is Catholic and mine is Lutheran.

Gotta run. Caught what Beth had. I think it is the Flu. I ache from top to bottom and have a nasty fever. Who was it Kara said we are getting each other sick thru the computer?? :)

How funny! Jeff is Catholica and I am Lutheran too! Obviously the Lutheran comes from my dad being from MN. It's so hard to find a Lutheran church here! We found a great one in SC but the nearest in FL to our house is 30 minutes away. We're thinking of trying a Methodist church nearby. But Jeff is "scared." It was hard enough for him to go to Lutheran church with me. But that's where we got married, and that's how Ally was baptized. I laid down the law there. :rotfl2:

Hope you feel better - I think I gave my cold to Jillian a few days ago. Sorry for sharing with you, too! :rolleyes1

Your room sounds really great! Have you seen Domestications? Some of their stuff is actually pretty nice, and good prices. I have ordered a few times. you can find it on www.domestications.com, also.

Thanx! I'm gonna go check it out now!

Yes, this is what happened to me, because it's YOUR info on a ccard with someone else's name, it can be used in person and nobody will question it until the statement arrives. I heard they sell these cards for $50, and the buyer will typically use it one time and then throw it away. Mine was used to buy men's underwear at Bloomingdales! $250 worth of undies! :rotfl2: Bank of America (which I can't imagine you would have in UK! :confused3 :rotfl: ) did a great job of handling our problem, too.

To everyone else! Have a great day!

I'm sorry to hear you spent so much time in the hospital cammie. How long will she be in there? I know you talked about her being in for a while.

Well, they have her scheduled for three days in ICU for post-op; if all goes well, we're hoping that's all it is. In my experience though, it almost always seems to turn into a longer stay. Keeping our fingers crossed!

Hope your feeling better today.

I'm sorry your pre-op day was such a pain! They did the pre-op pretty early, it seems.

They almost have to do pre-op a week in advance. The surgery is being done at Children's Hospital in Boston - very big hospital w/kids coming around the world to be seen by the specialists. The pre-op clinic was packed!

Oh, and our kids break up for summer 3pm today and go back to school on the 3rd Sept..

Tessa

Wow - that's not much of a summer break! If I remember correctly from our friends who had been living there, you guys get a couple of two-week breaks scattered throughout the school year, right? Do you have any special plans for the next month?

Bank of America (which I can't imagine you would have in UK! :confused3 :rotfl: ) did a great job of handling our problem, too.

Actually........don't laugh. My friends's husband worked for them and that's why they moved to England for two years; they wanted him in their European offices. So, yes, Bank of America is in the UK!

Well, I woke up with a stiff neck this morning. This happens often - I'm told I'm too tight in my upper back and neck. I need a massage -- or a man with nice strong hands!:goodvibes It's so true what they say - when you're stressed it effects your whole overall well-being. I know I've tightened up these past few days because I'm stressed about Amanda's surgery and I still have to get ready for this party this weekend. Don't know why that's stressing me though; it's just my family. It's just the way I get.

Should be interesting how these changes to Disney dining works out. I'm a little skeptical about the online ADRs; I guess we'll see. I can make my ADRs for my Feb. trip in August. I'm just going to call at the 180 day mark and see what they say. Another rumor I heard was that they were looking to include the tip in the DDP again.

Anyway, have a good day ladies. I'll check back in later.

Ok, watch out ladies - Cammie has learned how to scan pictures!

I've already posted a pic. on my TR of Lauren from the first year we went to Disney in 1998; I took a picture of her this year in the exact same spot. She looks so grown up!

Jeez - Kara. I know you've posted on that tr "He Said/She said". The DISer just posted this morning that her husband has left her! I've been following that report from the beginning and I just feel so bad for her!:sad2:
