Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

Hello there - I have an awesome GW alternative for you its called Freecycle dot org - its an e-mail group on yahoo - nation wide organization - totally FREE - you post the items you have to offer for free and local people respond to you telling you why they want the items - what they will be used for - and then you privately arrange for them to come and get them -you can also post "wanted" items which I have done a few times with limited success. I usually offer up the kids clothes, nick knacks, I have free tag sales where I put a load of stuff up the curb and people peruse. I did have one odd experience where I posted a FREE Tagsale - I put a huge "Free" sign that said only "Free" so that passerbys would also know to stop - and once everything was gone someone took my sign - - - - - weird. Its a great group - my whole family uses it instead of sending items to the trash or GW. Have a Happy Friday everyone. Whip

I've never heard of this but I"m gonna check it out! I can't believer someone took the sign! Hey, you said "free" huh? :rotfl:

Have you ever tried Craigs List? My SIL sold a bunch of stuff on there. You post online and people call you to come look at it and they take it with them. Kind of an online garage sale. I'm going to try to sell my patio furniture, grill, and some other big stuff that I can't sell on ebay. And we're only allowed to have yard sales in our neighborhood if we're moving. So that's really my only option.

Yeah! Look at my siggie!!!! 0 DAYS!!!

Bye everyone! Miss Me!!!

I miss you already!!!! Have fun!

Pam and Cammie will be back soon - they are going to be so sad. Yes, we all know the feeling, huh? The only time I was ever NOT sad to leave (not happy, but not sad) was when we went with the whole family. If we could have planned a couple of days by ourself at the end, then I would've been sad, but as it was, I was kinda relieved to go. And at the same time anxious for our next trip ALONE!!!

Our friends are coming tomorrow and staying for a WEEK! I'm a little worried about that. We have never stayed with each other before. Last summer we all rented a beach house together in Hilton Head, and all in all it was a lot of fun. We were starting to get on each other's nerves by the end though. I just hope they realize that Jeff and I are working three days next week and they need to go do something, beach, St Augustine, whatever, to get a way. I suggested Orlando for a day or two, not Disney cause they're planning that for next year, but maybe SeaWorld or something. I don't think they want to spend the money on that. Hello? You are staying at our house for free! Go, do something with the kids!!!

I still haven't cleaned a thing. I'm kinda waiting to see what's gonna happen with the back yard before I do. Then I have all day tomorrow to clean. Jeff is going deep sea fishing, so I can probably know it all out in 3-4 hrs. He has to do the yard today, then vacuum and steam clean all the carpets tonight. So that really just leaves me with dusting, bathrooms, and mopping the tile floors. I've been picking up all week so it looks pretty good that way. I just hate trying to make my house look good for the first impression, ya know?

OK, gotta hit the shower and get Aly to camp.

OMG!!! This is hilarious! Maybe I'll use this in my siggie everytime I post a recipe! :rotfl2:

Hiya all
Debbie - I forgot the Chicago stereotype ... sorry... gangster in a suit with a mac and fedora , chewing a matchstick of course.... maybe spats on the shoes as well.....:lmao: That's after I get over the image of vaudeville and "shicageee "- the windy city - from Calamity Jane.... :lmao: everybody sing it now - you know you all know it.....

I'm getting back into the scrap-booking now - just done a little fold out memory book

comes as a press out sheet with all the little embellishments, really nice - I bought another and am going to have another go too - one of the girls "posing" in the local park.... Definitely can't afford the tools you girls have over there though!!!! I'll just stay with the amateur stuff! If you are thinking of the Disney scrapbook store at Downtown Disney - I was disappointed with it really - got some stuff, but did see a lot of what was there in the parks too... the Christmas shop however <drool> especially as hubby was in the lego store with the kids and I could explore alone!!!!!

We have freecycle.org over here too - it's great - got rid of our kids old sandpit and kiddie slides - even though they were in no condition to sell, someone could still make use of them. I hate throwing things away.... And we picked up some shelves for our garage too - for free...

Tessa

Hiya again - sorry all I sound like I'm on speed or something in the above post, I'm not, honest.....

Anyhow just to say - sorry Kara - need that translation - the lady in the picture... who is she??...

Tessa

I like the idea of freecyle. I have been sending my stuff to goodwill for the tax write off. But I will consider it for the items that goodwill won't take. I'm lookin for a bike for beth so that maybe the way to go...

Off to Brainerd tonight. So looking forward to it but now it shows rain. I can't win. Oh well still sitting in the cabin looking at the lake is worth the drive. The girls can't wait to get into "papa's boat and go fast". I have speed demons for children. Beth's new favorite show is BBC's Top Gear. She loves Hammond.

That's Bree, the crazy, anal retentive housewife in "Desperate Housewives." You know the type, gardens in a white linen dress, nice floppy hat (with perfect hair underneath), and pristine gloves. Then caters dinner parties without the slightest wrinkle. I aspire to be her someday.... nah! :rotfl2: I do my gardening in the morning BEFORE I shower, in ratty cutoff jean shorts and a tanktop (bra is optional!). And dinner parties? Can you say barbeque burgers served on paper plates??? That's me! :rotfl2:

Hiya -

Kara - I aspire to be Bree!!!! However, as you can imagine, I am very much more like you...

And Laura .... claim to fame here .... I have met Richard Hammond - the hamster himself!!! In a local newsagents store.... He's tiny !!

Make sure she doesn't watch the one with his big crash - it was horrid... and though he does seem back to normal now, in his interviews he says he is still suffering mild brain damage......

Tessa

Tessa--Ahh a celebrity-by-proxy. I don't know if BBC America has ever shown that one. I read on line it was a pretty bad crash. Not something I want to see. They all seem pretty hilarious.

So I go outside to chat up the Brazilians when I notice they are eating lunch in the woods.
“Uh, you do realize there are snakes in there?”
“Yeah, we’ve seen ‘em.” ???
“THEM? How many?”
“A couple.”
Talking to Jeff I relay this info, cause I know the reaction I’ll get.
Jeff: “WHAT???? TODAY???? They’ve only been there since this morning?”
Kara: “Yup.”
Jeff: “This *%&$@#& state! We live in a *%&$@#& cesspool, swamp, *%&$@#* piece of *&$%@#* state!”
Kara: “Uh huh” I say while filing my nails.
Guess I shouldn’t be so nonchalant about it. After all, he needs to cut the grass tonight. And if that doesn’t get done, I’ll be out in my snow boots doing it myself!

But the good news is that they think they might get all the pavers down today! Even though they've torn the screen off, at least we can put out our new patio furniture this weekend! And I'll get lots of citronella candles so we can at least sit out there while our friends are here. And many cans of OFF!

I didn't notice that Tammie was leaving so soon! DUHHHH! I didn't get to tell her to have a fun trip! :(

I've been ebaying today. I scored the Disney font cartridge and the Disney Friends cartridge (Mickey, Donald, Daisy, Pluto and Minnie) for a STEAL! :woohoo: like 80% off retail! SO... anyone needs those type of die cuts made custom, I'm your gal! :cool1:

So far three of my items have bids. I listed 16. So, I'm hoping to make at least enough to cover my new cricut and the Five (yes, sigh, FIVE) cartridges I have bought (well, techinically one came with it) so Carlos doesn't absolutely flip out and go whacko on me! :scared1:

Zena, I sware. That jungle of yours! And the sight of you mowing the lawn in SNOWBOOTS in JUNE in FLORIDA :rotfl2: But the reason you're doing it is so not funny! My word, I'd be like :faint: ::yes::

Oh, Tessa & Erin - I too agree with I think it was Tammie. I think of GATP as very proper ladies with their houses ready for company at a moments notice, lots of yummy tea - and a proper tea every afternoon of course. Then, I also think of that show on BBCAmerica - is it How clean is your house? :scared1: :lmao: OMG - I've never seen such toliets! SO I guess I think of it being one extreme to the other. :rotfl:

Jillian - would love to see the pics.

Going to take my little man to see WALL-E tomorrow. He is so excited! Say a prayer I live that long. ha ha. Carlos sees what I've been up to on ebay and he might just be... :furious:

You will LOVE those cartridges !! :thumbsup2 I use the Disney Friends one all the time. I also have the two Disney Princess ones (Happily Ever After and Dreams Come True), Paper Dolls, and Indie Art. I've been stalking the Animal Kingdom one on ebay...that's the next one I want. I justify my cartridge addiction to DH by telling him what GREAT school projects DS will be able to do now...:rolleyes1 (Like he even cares about my Cricut ;) ).

Tell Jeff you guys should move to Hawaii -- no snakes here !!! ;)

He said he wanted to move to Jamaica for the same reason - no snakes!

The Brazilian boys are getting a lot done AND Jeff got our patio furniture picked up today! I had to special order the dining table and chairs, but hopefully it will be in this week.

Now he's upstairs vacuuming and steam cleaning the carpet. The good thing about having houseguests is it forces you to thoroughly clean your house. We've been here 8 months, so it's time for a good thorough "spring cleaning" anyway. Everytime I see him vacuum or something else domestic I tell him he's never looked sexier! :rotfl2:

Hahahahahaha ok this GFATP is sooo far from that stereotype it's untrue .. thankfully though i am above the people on how clean is your house :lmao: I am somewhere in between the 2 i always have a cuppa on the go in my house but never ready for company at a moments notice, more " aah someone's coming round" then quickly shoving everything in every cupboard (that's not already full of stuff) :lmao:

okay I have crossed into the nutty room. I just bought a security system. The sex offender thing really pushed me over the edge. Is $30/month a lot for a security charge?

I don't think 30/month is bad for your safety. It is worth it if it is worth it to you.

Home invasions are becoming very popular with the crazies - 30.00 per month does not seem unreasonable to me.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes and good-byes! We had a good day in the car - left at 11:30 am - got in here at 5:30. We had a fun time at Chuck E Cheese - although Myles didn't want to ride anything! 106 deg. here tonight! Tomorrow we're 3 hrs away in Bakersfield! :car:

can't type, Jim is laying on mt arm :(
