Looking For Control Freaks & Worry Warts too (Part 2)

I totally understand the being too busy thing. Like I told Cammie I just start projects to distract myself from doing the things I was supposed to be doing

Thank goodness I'm not the only one!! I have a 'sprinkling' of unfinished projects all over the place, if only I could sit down and focus! Ex. I've just cut fabric to make a skirt for myself - three days ago. I have a shirt for myself that needs to be mended - two months ago. Not to mention all the clean up I 'want' to do but never get to.

James Patterson - Right now I'm reading Cats & Dogs and London Bridges - they're in the car for those long traffic stops.

Patricia Cromwell - The Book of the Dead is what I'm reading in the house, along with the Readers Digest and my magazines.

My friend got me hooked on Stephanie Meyer - vampire love story - not bad. I just finished a Lisa Jackson book Fear, that was pretty good.

We should start a book club and check in with what we think.

Funny I never read in the winter, just in the summer when I'm sitting at the pool.

Tina, I love the idea of a book club!!!! I just read "Fear" also. It was pretty good. Have you read any Lisa Unger? Also the thriller type. It doesn't matter how tired I am, I HAVE to read for at least 20-30 minutes each night. Plus, I love to take hot baths and read there, too, sometimes with a glass of wine. But I have to lock the door or I'll have company. Ally, the dog, Jeff. They all come in and bug me. Ally likes to sit on the side of the tub, dip her feet in, and talk nonsense. So much for the "relaxing" bath, huh?

Someone gave me "Brimstone" by Douglas Preston. Great book, but not an easy read. I can only read him every so often because it requires more concentration. I think that's why I love James Patterson. He's an easy read, but still entertaining.

Hiya girls...

If you like James Patterson, have you tried Jeffery Deaver?? Really easy to read thrillers... I think the Bone Collector film (Denzel + Angelina..)was of one of his books

Found a good activity for the girls today - told them if they sorted out the penny jar (all our coin change ends up in there eventually...) they could take the money to be changed into pounds at the bank and spend it on holiday. Combines something to do with a bit of Maths - how many piles of 5 pennies make one pound etc...

We're going to see mum in Orkney 1st to 8th August... islands 8 miles off the North coast of Scotland ...

Well they are finishing up right now after £42!!!! That's over $80!! So I have 2 happy girls (till they realise there's not going to be a lot to spend it on up there!!;))

Reading... That is what I miss the most. Haven't really been able to do that since before Nicolas. Can't wait until we get to the point that I can read for pleasure again. Right now, my latest "reading projects" have been children related. I have a copy of something that is about kids and going green and a couple whole living books. I need to get the time but I find I read in 10 minute daily sprints. Isn't that sad. Someday...

Ditto on the projects here. I really start too many things and never quite either get them off the ground or finish them up. I think that is life these days.

Laura - hope things pan out! No fun being in that situation. Done it before and I sware the days drag out like you wouldn't believe. If you think it is bad now - wait until you give notice. LONGEST days of your life - seriously.

Tammie - you are just Grandma of the year. You are amazing help to your kids and I really hope they don't take you for granted! YOU SO ROCK & DESERVE THAT WINE.

Kara - :rotfl2: So I'll work on getting you a good recipe this weekend. She tells me all this stuff with no measurements like I know what the heck I"m doing and I get all confused and then she ends up telling me to just buy the sauce in the jar! :rotfl2: I used only ground beef (because of Nicolas) and basically the directions on the back of the Barilla No Bake Pasta Lasagna noodles. Only difference was I used Cottage Cheese in place of Ricotta and blended it with the eggs & the 2 cups of Six Cheese Italian Blend (Publix) with 1/2 C of freshly grated parm (you CANNOT buy the preshredded type).

So... 1 pkg of noodles. I used Bertolli Sauce - about 3 1/2 jars, 1 1b of ground beef, 15 oz of Ricotta processed with 2 eggs, basil, garlic & seasalt grinder, and pepper, then 2 cups of the italian cheese blend and 1/2 cup parm. Then layered pasta, processed mix 1/3, 1/3 remaining 2 cups italian cheese blend, 1/2 meat, sauce, noodles... etc. Just like it directed on the box.

I know that Carla has told me the secret is not to have too much of any filling in a layer. It should be tight and just a bit of everything, but the space between noodle layers shouldn't be huge. She also said you can cut back on the sauce if the pasta you use is cooked first.

I'll seriously try to get the "real" recipe that she uses for you. But I will warn you... she makes her on pasta generally too.. :rolleyes1

Lots to do today. And I keep coming up with more projects. THERE IS A SHOCKER! :lmao:

OK, Renee, I just printed out your recipe! I might try it tomorrow night! Actually, I'll probably wait until we get back from the beach, as I'm sure there will be lots of leftovers.....

Hey everyone! Has anyone contacted Cammie today?

I don't get to read for pleasure much - seems like I don't have uninterrupted time to really get anywhere - if I'm reading in bed I just fall asleep. I did finish a book I read while on vacation - I don't do thriller - I like historical romance with a little mystery mixed in. Or, I like a good mystery without so much blood and guts or "ghosties" in it. If there are too many characters, I forget who is who :rotfl2:

I have been reading "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson lately

Kara, I hope you have a great time at the beach this weekend! I may not get to check in before you go - probably though.

Mason is having surgery on Friday in another city, so we'll be going over there before the sun comes up. Dana is going to be working that day, so we want to go and be with Ryan. Mason has an undescended testicle, so they have to go in his tummy and get it where it belongs. He'll have general anesthesia, so I don't like that much, but God answers prayer, so I know he'll be okay. He'll be 15 months next week.

Tomorrow is Londynn's first birthday! We are going to have her party on Saturday, due to Mason's surgery and Mark and Lindsay's school schedule.

Okay, gotta go get ready for the day! Have a wonderful Hump Day, and let us know if you hear from Cammie!

Tammie - I know what you mean about anesthesia - Ally has to have one of her ear tubes surgically removed in September and she has to go under anesthesia. She had a horrible time when she woke up 3 years ago when she had her tonsils and adenoids removed, and tubes put in. So we're hoping she does better this time.

I'll definitely keep little Mason in my prayers!!!

Have a great time with Londynn's party! I love that name, and it's spelled so pretty!

I just texted Cammie so I'll keep y'all posted on Amanda....

Wow! More storms today - my office just got so dark, and the thunder is a rumblin!

Cammie just replied with, "which control freak is this?" :rotfl2:

Just got a text from Cammie - Amanda is doing so well that they may be going home sooner than expected!!! Although she is just now beginning to have an increase in pain, so they're waiting to hear from the doctors on when she can go!

Great news about Amanda! I am so glad to hear that. Cammie - my thoughts and prayers are with you!!

I wish that WE would get some of the rain from Dolly! Nothing in the forecast thru Sunday!

Hi all! I hope that everyone is doing great, and is having a wonderful summer!

I will not try to catch up on past posts
I will not try to catch up on past posts
I will not try to catch up on past posts

What I will try to do is stay connected, trying to pop in once a day to say hello and catch a little of what is going on. I miss you all when I am not here, and think of you all often.

Wow! I need to update my ticker! No trips planned for now. :sad2:

I am reading the Jan Karon Mitford series right now, and am loving it, but am having some trouble keeping up w/all of the characters (kind of like here!? ).

The girls are at my parents' this week, so we have a quiet week at home. We should be catching up on some house projects and chores, but NO, we are lounging, watching movies (uninterrupted), and I've been sewing and reading (uninterrupted). Thursday night is our date night - margaritas and Mexican food! It's a win all - we're having fun, and so are my parents and the girls, but I miss them, despite all of the uninterrupted activity!!

  I'm SO HAPPY she is doing so well. And you know she will probably recover even faster at home than the hosptial!!!

I agreee :goodvibes

I've just channelled my inner witch. I ordered a Stitch DVD off ebay. Won it for .99, they advertised prioriy mail for $5. It took almost 2 weeks after they sat on it for 6 days. Then the DVD shows up regular mail and the DVD itself is scratched to heck and back, skips like crazy. What a PITA. So I guess before you leave negative feedback you have to email the seller. I was rather nasty. Stating I was disappointed and felt they had really misrepresented their product. At this point I'm not returning it - my goodness, I'll pay more than .99 in postage. Personally, I think they got Pi$$y that it went for .99. :headache:

Speaking of - maybe this is a good time to call my mom... :rotfl: Guess what - she can't watch my kids for 1 hour for me to go to to get a 30 minute pedi (and mind you that is taking one of them with me) but she can totally get her niece to come there and stay for 5 days. :sad2:

Pam- Good to have you back stay safe w/ all of these storms.

Renee- that would make me so mad. My mom is really good about watching Badookie but it is her first grandchild so may that is why. It is Mike I have a hard time with :lmao:

Kara- Thank You for the update on Amanda and Cammie. I am glad to hear they are home safe and sound.

i'm glad to hear about Cammie and Lauren. That's great they are getting home so soon.

Tammie- I will keep little Mason in my prayers. Poor baby.

I'm reading Vince Flynn- kind of like patriot games and DiVinci Code. He's a local author. Cannot put the book down.

Here's proof I'm nuts. I am going to be the Treasurer for the school PTO next year. I just fell into it. Yikes. NOthing like adding more work to the pile. :)

I guess we all had a reason to find each other. It's like we're family (okay just the good kind not the kind that makes bad faces at you ;)

Tammie- You do have a ton of energy. Poor Mason. I feel so bad. I will keep him in my thoughts. I love Londynn's name and the spelling.
As for reading I have not done that since before Luca was born. When I was Pregnant I read all the time. I had to go for non stress tests once a week so I always had a few hours to read.
I would love to start a book club it would force me to pick up a book.

That sounds like good news for Cammie!

It's raining cats & dogs here. The girls are making us crazy because the tv isn't working. They've taken out the card games and now they are on the DS. We''ve also dragged out the pillows and blankets so it sounds like it will be sleepover in the livingroom for us tonight. Boy those clouds look scary on the news here in MA/RI!

Hope everyone stays safe!!
