Seriously though - meds - don't forget meds in your kit. Make sure your cells are completely charged. Gas in cars. that sort of thing. Consider plugging in a old corded phone if you have one - if the power goes out but the phone lines are up, you can use that.

Renee - Were you a Girl Scout?:rotfl2: I shouldn't make light of it. These are great ideas - things that people don't think of when they are in a panic. We should all keep lists like this inside of one of our cupboards. Who is that organized though? Wish I were.

Ya know, I was thinking about the corded phone - when I was unpacking when we moved in, I threw the only one away!!! But the cells are charged, the laptop is charged, just gassed up and I was the last person to get gas - their out!!!

Went back to PUblix and they're out of bottled water (luckily I got 2 cases, plus 2 gallons), so I got more tuna, and some Chef Boyardee cans.

The new track shows Fay moving into the Atlantic, strengthening into a HURRICANE and then coming straight back into Jacksonville!!!! Figures! Jacksonville has NEVER had a direct hit by a hurricane.... until we move here!

Only a Cat 1, but I"m still not liking this at all. Depending what the late news says, we'll see what's going on. I guess we could always head away from the storm to Orlando!!! The winds have picked up pretty good already, nice steady breeze probably around 15mph. We're supposed to get the next three days of this, with Thursday and Friday being the worst.

Hi Ladies..
Kara Glad you are still safe!
I missed the Ally pix I will have to try and find them!
Laura..thanks for the call!
Hi Pam!
Hi Renee!
Hi Tammie, Tessa & Tina and the rest of you Gals!

Hi all! Back from New Hampshire and I'm all Storyland and Santa's Villaged out. I don't want to hear another fairy tale or see another pointsetta for awhile. So now I'm getting ready to leave on a business trip to Chicago, IL and my DDs are crying in their beds because they don't want me to go. Actually DD6 is sitting next to me writing an 'I miss you' letter so I can take it with me.:sad1: They almost made me cry. It's only for one night, but you'd think it was for months. I think it's because the last time I went on a business trip I was gone for weeks at a time.

special hugs for them tonight.

Hope everyone has a good week.

You'll have to wave to me when you pass by! I'm in Chicago ya know!

Hiya all , quick fly by today - have ironing pile 3 feet deep......

Kara - hope the weather is passing you by.....

Olympics is taking up our viewing time over here- UK third in the medal table - never happens - with our little population we normally get about 8 golds maximum, but we are doing really well at the sports you get to sit down to do (my kind of exercise!!!:lmao:)

Cycling, rowing, sailing, kayaking.... I think we do have some medals for "standing up" sports too, but mainly for sitting down....:goodvibes

Tessa

Tessa - you crack me up! :rotfl2: Know what I miss about the Olympics? Having those "bad" eastern bloc nations to root against. I remember the days when the US was good (of course), and Great Britain, France, West Germany, Australia, but we always rooted against USSR and East Germany, etc. That just seemed to make it more exciting, kinda like that rivalry thing between us and the communist nations. But I love love LOVE the Olympics!!!

OK, Weather Update - we are now under a Tropical Storm Warning and a Hurricane Watch. We're already getting the outer rain bands and some wind this morning. But Ally has school. They've cancelled school in the neighboring county (the largest Jax county) though. But all the suburbs seem to be going to school today. Not supposed to get bad until tomorrow so I"m not too worried.... yet.

But even my calm, cool, and collected neighbor told me that they ran out to stock up on batteries last night. He told me to prepare for some "really rough" weather for a couple of days. I asked him at what point do we board up windows and evacuate. He said not until a high end Cat 2 or above. But we're about 40 miles from the beach, so probaby a Cat 3 or above would drive us out of town. Not something to look forward to.

I should take a picture of my laundry room. I cleared it out last night and scrubbed the floor really good, put some blankets in there, plus our lantern, weather radio, food, paper plates and utensils, candles, etc. I'm ready! I've also gathered all our important papers, scrapbooks, photo cds, etc. I guess you just never know!

Kara - You're in my thoughts and prayers! Is Ally doing OK w/it, or does she pay attention that that type of thing? The way they broadcast stuff like that, at least here, it scares Taylor to death. It's hard to keep the kids away from that kind of stuff. You know you're prepared, just in case, but they can think that it is positively going to happen, just because of the silly newscasters/weatherpeople. Weather storm alert - breaking in on all of the shows, broadcasting the weather all day. It does make it seem extra scary to the younger ones. I hope that she is doing OK. How was her first day of 2nd grade?

Hope everyone has a good week.

Tina - You, too! You made me sad. How special about the note.

You'll have to wave to me when you pass by! I'm in Chicago ya know!

I need to plan a long weekend trip to see my grandma, and make plans to meet you for coffee (or some Fusion!).

Cycling, rowing, sailing, kayaking.... I think we do have some medals for "standing up" sports too, but mainly for sitting down....:goodvibes

:rotfl2: We've enjoyed the Olympics, too! I'll be sad when they're over. We are also excited about the next winter Olympics in Vancouver. I've been once, and fell in love w/it, but Darrin has never been. Listening to the radio this AM, the DJ's were talking about Michael Phelps possibly being gay and a mama's boy. I guess they can't get him on taking sterioids, so they are going to find another way to try to bash him in the press. It makes me so angry! :headache: He's a phenomenon. Can't they just let it be at that?:confused3

Oh, how sad! Why can't they just let it be! Even Mark Spitz was happy for him! I heard them talking about his girlfriend on Fox News, so I think he's fine. I hate the media when this kind of thing happens. Remember Greg Louganis? They made such a big deal out of him being gay that it really hurt the sport of diving for awhile cause no boys wanted to be associated with that. :sad2:

Latest weather report: Too dangerous for judges, and most importantly criminals, so the county courts are closed. But safe for children so schools are open!!! What's up with that?

Not that it really matters if he is gay or that this proves that he is not, but the sister of one of my nephew's good friends dated Michael Phelps a few years ago. I wish I had been able to watch more of the Olympics, but I don't get to watch much TV this days.

Hope everyone is doing well today. Just stopped in to catch up, but I am trying to organize my messy office today and I have to take Ryan for to the md to get his cast checked, so I am trying really hard not to get sidetracked by the computer, like I usually do!! Its my favorite way to procrastinate.

Kara, I haven't been watching the news much, so what is the latest news on the hurricane? Are you doing ok down there? You should post pics of your laundry room...I need some inspiration! My laundry room is always filled with mountains of dirty laundry. Its the one thing about my house that I would change if I could. Its too small and has no room to fold clean laundry, so I wind up folding it on my kitchen island and it usually sits there forever. Because, you know, I am the only one capable of taking clean laundry upstairs;)

THAT is sad. Please kee us posted. We are worried about you!

Maureen - I love your new avatar! Computer - only one of my many ways to procrastinate.

I (notice how I say I? ) fold laundry on the couch, and the folded laundry sits on my coffee table in our only living area for days, sometimes a week! I can get everyone to put up their own stuff, only after I complain about it, but common laundry, like towels, are my job. We do a fast clean up job if we have any kind of warning that we will have a visitor other than DDs' friends. Otherwise, it's just a part of our decor!:rotfl:

And, no, DH doesn't change the TP roll. Neither do the kids. Nor do they give the dogs fresh water, clean the fish bowl, hamster cage....Taylor has been wanting a third dog. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: NO WAY. When our older dog leaves us, we will make do w/one!

The only way I can get help getting the house clean is if we're scheduled to have company! Otherwise, it's usually a disaster, unless I get a bug up my butt which happens occasionally.

I fold laundry in our bedroom, cause it's near the laundry room. I fold Ally's clothes and put them on the stairs to go to her room. I fold Jeff's and leave on the bed. And I do NOT turn things right side out. He should do that before they go in the hamper! So when he comes home at night he moves the piles of laundry onto the floor right in front of his dresser!!!! I absolutely do NOT understand men!!!

I have sold three things on ebay so far!!! I'm gonna get showered and hopefully get them shipped today (if I get paid!) cause I don't think I'm gonna want to venture out tomorrow.

Funny story - I just got a text from Cammie and as I was reading it, my home phone rang, and I thought I heard "This is Cammie from the Disboards." After a couple seconds, I'm like, this does NOT sound like Cammie! No Jersey accent. So I'm thinking, who got my number and is pretending to be Cammie? :scared1: Turns out it was TAMMIE!!!! :rotfl2:

Sorry if I sounded off there Tammie! Thanks for the call!

Isn't Cammie at the beach in Jersey this week? Did y'all see the big shark they caught off the coast? I really need to turn off the all day news channels!!!! :rotfl2:

Nothing new to report here. Just some light winds and off and on showers so far.

Cammie is at the Jersey shore this week. I am totally isolated from the outside world except for the computer, so do you know where they caught the shark? I am only about 40 minutes from Ocean City, NJ, so I am really curious.

Kara, glad to hear that you haven't had any major storms yet. My dad lives in Palm Coast (down by Daytona). Do you know if the storm is supposed to hit down there?

The only current news story I am following right now is the one about that missing 3 year old in Orlando, Caylee Anthony. The whole thing just makes me sick! I have Nancy Grace on every night and it really bothers my DH, but I can't help it, I am engrossed it in. I totally think her mom is involved and her grandmom seems suspicious as well. Its just so hard to understand how someone could hurt such a precious child. Everytime I see her picture, I get upset all over again. Its just such a same that some people try so hard to have children and are unable to, and yet, others get an adorable little girl like Caylee and don't realize what a blessing it is.

Maureen - I really think that Casey Anthony sold her daughter. That's my belief. She is such a party girl that she probably didn't want to be burdoned with a child. I'm sure she knows EXACTLY where she is! And to think that she might get out of jail!!! The bounty hunter said she just needs to relax and get a manicure so she can tell authorities where her daughter is. WTH???

I think that Fay should be over Palm Coast sometime later tonight maybe? Depending on what Fay does, I think that is about where she is expected to make her turn back inland. But they keep changing the track ever 3 hrs!

We've already gotten about 3/4 of an inch of rain just since noon. I think it's going to be mainly a rain event for us. We shall see, if this thing ever get moving!

Oh, ALL the counties around Jacksonville have now cancelled school for tomorrow EXCEPT for ours! What a bunch of morons. And right now they are listing our county and another one as the two that may be hardest hit by winds and heavy rain, cause the storm is going to cross just south of us. I doubt I'll send her tomorrow no matter what.

Kara-I am really glad for you that Fay is going to be mostly rain. I will give my dad a call just to check in with him.

I hope that you are right and she sold Caylee (as horrible as that sounds!), but I really think she is no longer alive. I agree that Casey seems like a party girl and her daughter was getting in the way of her having fun. Casey obviously has some major psychological issues (ie being a pathological liar) and I think that she was very bothered that her parents paid more attention to Caylee than to her. I just have a gut feeling that this story is not going to have a happy ending. The sad part is, it seems like her parents were basically raising the baby anyway, so all she needed to do was to give them custody and go about her partying ways.

I have a mouse update...the traps that shock and kill the mice are really working (hope I don't offend any animal lovers here.) We have caught one every night for the last 3 nights and I even emptied the trap myself this morning, which is a major accomplishment for me!! I really like animals and I have 2 dogs that I rescued, but to me, mice are filthy pests and I will do whatever it takes to get rid of them!

My son's md appointment had to be cancelled because my DH took my keys to the van with him to work. I am kinda glad, because I am not really in the mood to sit in a doctors office for 1 1/2 hours. I am also glad, because I have taken DH's keys to work before and he freaked on me. Now maybe he can understand how it can happen. I swear, I never did so many airheaded things before I had kids! My theory is that each child sucks out some of your brain cells.

One of my favorite mommy stories is when my daughter Grace was a month or so old. I dressed her and Shannon in matching dresses and we were all ready to go to a family gathering. I was so proud of how nice all the kids looked. Before going out to the car, I realized Grace needed her diaper changed, so I took her out of the car seat to change her and there was poop everywhere (sorry to be so graphic!!) I went to change her diaper and realized that I didn't put a diaper on her, just a diaper cover:rotfl: Needless to say, Shannon and Grace didn't arrive at the party in matching dresses. See what having 2 kids in 11 mos and a lack of sleep does to you? I still laugh everytime I think of that day!

Well, I am obviously doing the computer procrastinating thing, so I am off to try to clean a bit after putting the kids down for their naps.

I will check in later!

Couldn't agree more!!!! :rotfl2: Guess that explains why I'm still so smart - I only have one child. Or would that be "smart***" :rotfl2:
