Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Sorry guys! Just haven't been around much lately this summer. It's our slow time at work so I'm able to get a lot of stuff done during the day instead of sitting in front of my computer all day. And of course Ally is keeping me busy with swim team and golf. Our weekends are spent at the pool and weeknights are up there for practise.

Then my inlaws arrive tomorrow and leave Monday - so I'll probably be out all weekend.

Miss you guys! Will catch up soon!

Hiya all,

Cammie - I know exactly how you feel - I need me time sometimes too, it is so confining when people come to stay and you feel hemmed in on all fronts!! Hope you get some freedom back soon!:goodvibes

Debbie - can't believe you are having trouble selling on tickets - over here someone would have had them off you for twice the price...

Kara - my littlest is starting to show an interest in golf too, so hubby is looking for some junior clubs and thinking of going up the driving range with her. ( he plays maybe 3 or 4 times a year...) Trouble is then big sis will get jealous and feign an interest to get involved too, and it will end up too much hassle etc etc etc.... So we will see how it goes.

Tessa

It's weird to have it so slow here!!! Easier to keep up but I miss you guys!!! I hope all is well with everyone and you are all out there being productive or having fun!!!!! I am actually going to try out the internet on my phone next week so we will see how it goes. It is only 14.95 a month and I can cancel at any time. I was thinking I would just get it for the summer for when I am in Wisconsin.

Hi Tessa!

Hiya gals!!!!

I'll post pics later but we have a landscaper here adding sod to the back of our yard - we back up to a wooded conservation area and our yard is so tiny that we are "cheating" and adding a pallet of sod to extend the yard. Technically we have to keep a 14 foot buffer but what the developer doesn't know won't hurt, right?

This guy does all the work at Jeff's company so he's cutting us a deal. Also adding some hedge plants to grow into a privacy hedge for when we eventually have neighbors that butt up to our yard. And they they are mulching and moving some plants around and adding a few for us. We've been here 2 years and even though we do it all ourselves, the yard was not looking so good so we decided to let a professional tackle it for once.

My inlaws get in this evening so they can see Ally swim tomorrow. Only two more meets before the championships on July 25th.

We've had tons of rain this week so haven't been out much, but now that front has passed and we're back to the usual - chance of storms every afternoon. I just saw something on the 'net that said that Boston has had rain 9 out of the last 10 weekends! That sucks!!!! At least we've cooled off - only in the upper 80's today and tomorrow.

We may drive down to Cape Canaveral tomorrow for the shuttle launch. Supposed to launch around 7:40pm so we would have to leave by 3ish and grab dinner there. I think it's about 2-2 1/2 hr drive. Need to map it out. Jeff really wants to see one launch from the pad there.

If I'm not on again, hope everyone has a great weekend!

First...Cammie...if you can believe it I can't get rid of my 2 extra Jonas tix! What do you guys think they are worth? Sec 106 row N. Great seats IMO

Hi Erin...I miss shopping! I am on a spending freeze and I miss it! I love to shop!

Oh Debbie i would have those tickets in a heartbeat, Chloe would loove to go see them, we can't even get tickets for Hannah Montana this yr :sad1: not enough dates this side of the pond :sad1:

Ref the shopping, it is ALL bargain shopping believe me, in preperation for Christmas, yes i plan ahead hahha especially this yr when 5 weeks after Christmas we will be off to WDW wooohooo .. anywya back to the shopping, i pretty much have everything from Father Christmas (she is still a believer) I have saved so much in the Disney store, crazy prices!!!

Ok so 5 days left at school and counting :woohoo:
Reasonably eventful week we have had, School report came home which was fantastic, i am so proud of my girl, then we had all change day, which is when they spend the morning in their new class with their new teacher, this week they pretty much do a fat lot of nothing but watch dvd's and pack up their classrooms hahhahah:lmao:
Weather has turned a bit here unfortunately :confused3 and i'm really hoping it comes back when the kids finish school

Hope you guys are all doing ok

Jillian .. get back to bedrest madam
Kara .. Good luck to Ally for this weekends swimming
Tessa .. Congrats on the weight loss
Tammie .. Are you still away, hope all is ok with you
Renee .. How's all your end?

Hi to everyone else :flower3:

Hi girls Yup back on bed rest they moved up my surgery to July 24th and I have to go next week for an ultrasound and some blood tests. I'm tired wiped out on hormones etc... I feel like I just want to cry. :sad2:

Kara- Sounds like the backyard turned out amazing. Good luck with your in laws. I hope Ally has a great a swim meet.

Tessa- Yeah on the Christmas shopping. I can't believe you have all of your shopping almost done that is crazy.

Debbie- Yes I did go back to work too fast and I should have listened to you. My Doc is now keeping me out for a while. How are the munchkins? Are they having a blast this summer?

Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the weather it is finally sunny here I am so glad the rain has finally disappeared

I'm sorry Jillian that you are still feeling yucky. I was surprised to see you back so fast. Take it easy. Hope all goes well.

I'm sunburned in my arm pits. Can you believe that? we spent all day at the water park. It has a wave pool, water slides , kiddie pool and sand pit. Guess where the girls spent most of the day? Yup the sand pit. beth did hit the wave pool for a while though. She is quite the body surfer. It is as close as we will get to the ocean for a while.

Hope kara is enjoying the in-laws.i'm sure there will be a story or two...Sending Ally pixie dust for her meet tomorrow. :)

Debbbie--telephone on the computer is great. Tim has it for his downstairs line. The only thing that is preventing me from getting it at home is the funky way it deals with 911. I believe they can't locate you by the number you are calling from. Yes I worry about silly stuff like that.

Cammie survived the family I see. Hope all is well and everyone is healthy. My niece said the show was great. I can't wait for Lauren to see them.

Congrats to CJ on her marks for the last term. I'm still amazed that the school calendar is so far off compared to ours. I guess that has to do with the old days and the growing season here. Heck they won't start school here until after labor day still because of the farming and resort impact.

Congrats, belated, to Tessa on her weight loss.

off to wash up the kids from the pool. Katie's hair has a green tint already to it. Maybe a little too much cholrine.

Tessa- Yeah on the Christmas shopping. I can't believe you have all of your shopping almost done that is crazy.

Hiya - nope I am totally disorganised - Erin is the great shopper this side of the pond.... wish I could get motivated to do stuff, concentrating on losing weight and entertaining the kids is about as far as I get right now... I need Erin to come do my shopping, Debbie to sort out my clutter and Kara to do my interior design.

I do hope everything goes well for you. My friend is going through some hormonal stuff right now and I feel for her - she is so emotional and tired all the time. Her's turned out to be that her baby hormones didn't turn off after she gave birth 7 years ago!!! She has been on steroids recently and it has really helped - but the other side effect is she is having to have a breast reduction - the hormones kept them growing too.... ouch!

Erin - my 2 had reports this week too - going great, soooooooo happy.

But, I'll whisper it... does anybody miss the days when teachers could tell it like it is.... everything seems so bland and fluffy to me. The stuff they do great at is so over egged "fantastic" this, "wonderful" that and the stuff they are rubbish at is "has applied herself to" "is tackling this well". I looked at an old report card of mine with them - "It is of no great mystery why Tessa can write such wonderous fantasy stories - as she is always daydreaming, away with the fairies" A double edged compliment or what!!!:rotfl:

Thanks Laura .. Yeh is crazy although we have a few 1 week breaks during the school yr which i know you guys don't really have do you, we have a week in oct/nov a week in feb and a week in may.

Tessa

Ok well i'll come and do your shopping Tessa if you can come and do my weight loss ;) it is just ridiculous, i am at the heaviest i have ever been, including when i was 9 months pregnant :headache:
Congrats on the girls reports too.

And i think all the nicey nicey report stops when they reach secondary school hahahhaha :rotfl:
My report was the same every yr, "Talks to much" "Needs to concentrate" hahahhahaha

Hi Everyone! I'm back. I'll have to come by and catch up later - I have so much to do I don't know where to start. Feeling pretty sad - I really just want to go to bed, but that doesn't help. :guilty: Our trip went well -the kids were really good, the desert was HOT and Texas is REALLY HOT! They have a nice house and are getting settled. It is really hard for us, ane the babies are asking us to come back and hug them today.:sad1: We'll all adjust and I get to have a clean house!:woohoo: I missed all of you!

Still here-just enjoying the nice weather so I haven't been on the computer. I'm also fighting with my kidney stones again. I get them like 4 times a year.

Hope you are all doing well!

Hiya all,

oh Tammie I feel for you - it must be such a wrench to be so far away - any trips planned?? Makes it easier for the kids too if you can count down the days till the next meeting together.

Lydia - sounds painful!! Hope you are feeling better soon.

Well, my youngest becomes 7 on Tuesday - she moves up to juniors at school in September -I'll have 2 juniors, where does the time fly to?? Mind you, it will make life easier - just the one Christmas concert, just the one sports day etc....

Having a "monkey" party straight after school (saves a weekend!)- she loves monkeys of ALL types.. The living room is having a jungle makeover , the cake is being made by DMIL on a monkey theme and her bedroom has become a music chill out area.

Doing crafts for an hour - snap-band bangles and colour your own animal party bag.... then another hour for food and playtime (musical statues, pin the tail on the monkey, bubbles in the garden) , then sending them home.... 10 kids including mine....... too many really, but hope for good weather!! thankfully DMIL is helping. She is an absolute treasure :goodvibes(and I don't mean she should be taken to a deserted island and buried!!!!).

No weigh in this week - too much party prep to do, but am burning away plenty with the stress of it all! So am not worried about missing a week.

Tessa

Okay, I'm all caught up, and it looks like everyone was really busy yesterday!

Lydia - OUCH! :headache: DH has had kidney stones 3 times - Are you on meds? The last time he felt them coming on he did a detox and then drank lots of lemonade and they seemed to clear up. I'd rather have a baby any day then kidney stones. Take care.

Tessa - Happy Birthday to your DD! Sounds like a really fun party!
Good job on the weight loss! I would say that walking 2 miles every other day is a good way to exercise! I have to get back to the gym now that my "dance partners" are gone!:goodvibes

Thanks for the support. I'm sorry to say, but I don't think my kids care if the grandkids miss us or not. They are happy we are coming to visit, but they don't really seem to encourage our relationship. I think they are a little jealous - we are the ones who spent the time with them.

Yesterday on the phone, Myles said, "grandma, I just want to hug you right now. Tomorrow, I'm going to school, and I need to hug you before I go to school!" Made us cry. We will all adjust, and they really do need a regular life.

Jillian! I'm really worried about you. Make sure you take it easy. I know you're tired of resting, but take care of yourself!

Cammie, your surprise is getting so close! :yay:

Laura, funny you burned your pits! I've done that too:goodvibes I'm glad you're having fun with your girls!

Debbie, are you in WI?
Kara, Sounds like you're busy with Summer - good for you! I'll be waiting for those landscaping pics! I was lucky to just get some flowers in my front flower bed so the house looks like someone lives here! :thumbsup2
Tina, just keep packing and don't look back! :rotfl2:

Erin, great on getting the shopping done! I haven't even thought about
Christmas shopping yet:santa:

Lorrie, sounds like you're busy enjoying Summer, too!

I took pics on our trip with a mini TR in mind - can't travel without that anymore! :rotfl2: I'll download them and post here. I think we figured out we probably don't want to live in the desert!

Happy Sunday everyone! I'm going to catch up on some TRs, and then get to cleaning my carpets - Jim is working so I'm skipping church!

Hey guys! Hope all is well with everyone. I need to read back and catch up. I think my computer is much better - the guy was back over again to fine-tune everything. Guess we'll see.

Anyway, Debbie........as we discussed earlier, here are the Meet & Greet pix I was telling you about.

First of all, the adorable one:

normal_portv2.png

And the second one.............ok, I know we can act "cougar-ish" sometimes, but I certainly don't think we'd stoop to this level:

Would love to know what was going through their minds when these "ladies" strolled in. LMAO!

Quick flyby....

Got my iphone - YEA! So I'm downloading apps and playing with that.
Shuttle launch got scrapped yesterday AFTER we drove down to the beach to watch it! But it was a nice 1/2 hr we spent on the beach, and we were able to stop at the outlet malls.....
Swim meet went great! Another win for Ally in the 25m freestyle!!!!

INLAWS ARE GONE!!!!! They left this morning so the house is mine again!

Couple of pics.....

New landscaping - they rearranged some plants, pulled some out, added new ones, transplanted these big sago palms cause they were clustered together and would eventually be too tall - then mulched......

House3.jpg

Ally's new room - not decorated yet - but you can kinda see the paint. The wall at the head of her bed is a darker shade of mint green than the rest of the room.

Newroom4.jpg

Now in the backyard, we added sod to the back of the yard. It was angled so we basically squared it off so on one side it added about a foot then extended to about 6 or 7 feet at the other side.

We added this line of bushes that will grow to a tall hedge to separate our lot from the next lot over - eventually someone will build there and we will be able to see right into the back corner of their house and lose our privacy....

Backyard4.jpg

Backyard2.jpg

Here you can kinda see the backyard - we back up to a conservation area - over to the right side as you're looking out - those big trees in the mulch bed, those used to be in the "woods" so you can tell how far out we added the sod.....

And finally, some beach pics from yesterday.....

Tammie - so glad you made it home safely - I'm sure it was a very emotional time for you..... it will get better! :cloud9: And think of the bright side.... CLEAN HOUSE AND PRIVACY!!!!!

And of course, what would a post from Kara be like these days without a swim meet photo??? :rotfl:

Nice landscaping, Kara! I like how you made your back yard bigger!

I like the colors in Ally's room:thumbsup2 Cute swim meet pics, too! I still need to download my trip pics. Jim is home today, so we're heading out to a matinee of Public Enemy. It is way too quiet, but already cleaner!

Yesterday I cleaned the carpet in the LR and DR and hallway. Today, I steam-cleaned the guest bath and Jim cleaned the fan and lights in there. Looks good. I just need to clean the blinds better and get a new shower curtain. Jim vacuumed out my office, so I can start moving back in there. It does feel good to get a start.

Mark called today, their car is broke down - I feel bad for them.
