Looking for Control Freaks & Worry Warts - Part 4!!!

Hiya all,

wow the Harry Potter stuff sounds great! I sooooo want to go there!! Is the Dragon coaster the old Fire and Ice updated and the Hippogryph ride the little family unicorn one?? Universal is going to be BUSY for a couple of years!!

Oh, and tat around your house is kind of like junk, but usually a specific type - you know the cheap plastic angel Aunty Jo buys you for Christmas, the slightly blurred plate with the puppy on saying New year 1987, the souvenir ashtray in garish colours - the (grrrrrrrrr....) puffins in "fine bone china" my mum insists I will love since they remind me of home.... Now, I do like puffins - but 26 of them!!!! One even has a "fine timepiece" - clock!!!! - in it's tummy! Another has an " indispensable kitchen aid" - egg timer!!! arrrgggggggghhh. She means well........

Not even close to packing-too busy!

Better get busy girl! :goodvibes

Hi guys! Wanted to say a quick hello. I know I haven't been on in awhile but I miss you all.

Amanda started school last week, so I spent most days down at BC getting her settled. The rest of my days have been spent doing the things I couldn't do while she was home with me all August: van service; eye doctor; gym; Lauren's open house.

Lauren and I are continually battling for the computer these days. I'll be dropping hints to her dad to get her own laptop for Christmas!

I hope to catch up with all I've missing this weekend. Hope everyone is well!

Cammie! Nice to see you here! Maybe you could arm wrestle Lauren for the computer! :rotfl2: How is Amanda adjusting to school?

I personally liked CSR better. POR was boring to me. But I've stayed at CSR 3 times now, and always stayed near the front, so the size of the place was never an issue for me. And I think they have the best bus service. The stops are at the front at each park except for one (can't remember which) which is really nice at the end of the day!

Wait, "most amazing friends..... besides Kara?" What's up with that!!!! :rotfl2:

I've gotten totally immersed in this whole cruise thing now. I've been printing out door magnets already - and it's 5 months away!!!! Getting really excited - it's like it just hit me!!!

And the whole Harry Potter thing at US is getting me excited too. I know, I've cheatin on the mouse, but I love Harry Potter!

I'm really excited for you to be planning your cruise!:yay:

DITTO!

Kara...Jillian just meant you were the only greatest friend that she's met!:rotfl2:

Tomorrow brother's wedding shower....busy days!

Have fun at the shower!

:lmao::lmao:Tessa, you are so funny! Great descriptions - I knew exactly what you meant, but still fun - in the West, we call them knick knacks, but out East, I think they call them Chachki's(don't know how to spell it) I think - girls? See, we even have our own language differences within our country!:3dglasses

Out east we call it junk. :lmao: But seriously I think the term here in NY anyways is knick knacks...my MIL loves to load us up with that kind of stuff at Christmas...always in all our stockings.

Tim said no junk for you when we got married. I have slowly snuck things into the house. :)

Hope all is well with everyone. I'm resting after a trip to the zoo. Mental note always have snacks in your purse because when a 2 yr old get mad there is nothing bringing them back down to earth. Yeah Katie had fun

Still summer here 80 and sunny. WTH? It is september it is supposed to be getting colder? I don't want to think about winter.

Hiya all,

So there's tat everywhere!!

It's our 10th wedding anniversary on Friday, tin/aluminium , so am anticipating a can opener and tin of beans! My family and hubby's would give a novelty can opener in the shape of a dogs paw (tat) and supermarket own brand baked beans, my aspirations would be more a practical chrome opener with berlotti beans... but hey - ho - we have a sitter so will actually be going out, and we are having a weekend away (with the kids) at our half term break in October.

Have a dilemma looming on the horizon though..... my youngest has recently got a new "best friend" , she is a nice, kind, lovely little girl - this week her mum tells me they are moving to another country next year!!!! BUT - they have not yet told their daughter, so could I please not say anything to mine..... I know she will be heartbroken, but I cannot bring myself to cool the friendship, since I cannot give a reason and she is lovely.... I notice a few of you have moved away from places and best friends when your kids are young - how do you handle it??

Nope, the new rides are brand NEW! The cheesy unicorn roller coaster will still be a cheesy unicorn coaster..... as least as far as I know. We are spending Thanksgiving with Jeff's cousin this year so hopefully I'll get more info then.....

Tessa, funny you should bring this up, but I'll tell you why later. As for moving, yes,we've done it and it stings. But kids make friends pretty quickly so even though we though Ally would soon forget her BFF Caroline, she didn't! And she still talks about her to this day! So they email each other ocassionally, and we try to stop to see Caroline when we are back visiting Jeff's parents, but after nearly 2 years it is FINALLY starting to fade a bit I think. I just tell Ally that it's great to have a friend like that to keep in touch with and maybe see once a year or so.

But..... Jeff just dumped more news on me last night. He is flying out to Dallas for a big company meeting with all the GMs in two weeks. Well, the Pres and VP want Jeff to fly out a day early. Why? They want to convince him to move back to SC...... They are taking him golfing at some nice country club there..... Pam you know about Dallas National? They know how much we love it here so they are really working him.

I do NOT want to go!!!! I mean, I spent yesterday morning at a free women's golf clinic that our pro does once a month. Then we played couples golf last night and then hung out in the clubhouse with everyone afterwards. I absolutely LOVE it here!!! If I had never found this community, I wouldn't know what I'm missing, but I swear, it's like we live in a retiremnt community for families. There is so much going on all the time and in 2 years here I have way more friends than in 13 years in SC.

And did I mention that i's late September and I'm getting ready to take Ally to the pool today? Yeah, there is that benefit, too......

I told Jeff I will of course do whatever, but I may go kicking and screaming.

Tessa, we moved alot, being in the military, but I guess the last time they were 7 and 5. We told the boys that they could write to their friends and they even called a few times, and that they would make new friends. Sadly, they forgot their "old" friends pretty quickly. Maybe girls would stay connected longer.

Kara! You are on that roller coaster again. I'm sorry. I hope you don't have to move, but I admire your support for Jeff if you do have to.

/
Out east we call it junk. :lmao: But seriously I think the term here in NY anyways is knick knacks...my MIL loves to load us up with that kind of stuff at Christmas...always in all our stockings.

I think I've watched too many episode of Seinfeld! :rotfl2:

Kara - Stand your ground, but I salute you for standing by your man! I'm so jealous that you are swimming now! This AM it was in the 50s!

Tessa - boy a can opener and a can of beans - that sounds so exciting! Hey at least they remember! I hear you about the friends moving - DD10 had that happen to her for 2 years straight starting in kindergarten, she'd meet a friend and then they would move. (Remember all the problems she was having?) - Last week she comes home all excited because a new girl started and they have become BFFs!!! :goodvibes I'm so excited - DD10 went to her B'day party Saturday and had a blast. I am so praying this works out and her 'other' friends don't spoil it for her.

Laura - how's the GS stuff coming along? I'm really not loving it right now, but I'm dealing. We decided not to do the nuts/magazine fund raiser - I think the kids have enough fund raisers going on right now!

Cammie - how is Amanda doing at school? Glad to hear you're taking some time for yourself. How's the new nurse coming along? I have friday's off and it's amazing how much I missed having that time to myself during the summer!

DD7 started gymnastics Saturday and LOVED it! :goodvibes I think she's a natural, but I don't dare tell her. The teacher thinks so too because she kept making her the line leader and telling her to do stuff that I didn't think she knew, but she did great! She SO wanted to get up on the higher bar of the uneven bars, but somehow she controlled herself.

Yes, our language thing is funny! :goodvibes Chloe would love LK!

Yes my mum wanted to take her to see it in London over the summer but we were just too busy!

Erin - This old lady has 4 tats! Hee, hee. Also have a navel and ear cartilage piercing. Got them all close to 40 (mid life crisis??). No ear gauges though...Still struggling w/the language barrier. Sorry, I'm a little slow. What's the "tat" in your house?

4 tats how fab, i really want another one but cannot decide what to have .. what do you have??
And "tat" i'm sure has been explained by now but i've not reread properly hahahah .. Tat is another word for junk, rubbish you have lying around your house hahahah

And the whole Harry Potter thing at US is getting me excited too. I know, I've cheatin on the mouse, but I love Harry Potter!

Oh i am sooo excited about HP .. Unfortuantely i always cheat on the mouse, we are big Universal and IOA fans in my household .. Are you sure about Unicorn and Duelling dragons .. i read somewhere recently, i thought online orlando sentinel that the Flying unicorn will become Hippogryphs and Duelling Dragons something to do with the triwizard comp and everything else would be brand new???? Let us know what jeff's cousin says ;)
We are gutted we are gonna miss the opening, that seems to keep happening to us on every trip, oh well excuse to go back again ;)

I am so crabby and I hate when I haven't been here to post and then I just whine and crab! I do get a chance to read what is going on with you guys for the most part but when I go to post I just feel like I am a doggie downer!!!

The school routine is falling into place. The homewoirk thing with Elizabeth is not fun nor is the family dynamic at the school where I am trying to be friends with people who aren't friends with other peole...yadad...it isn't easy!

I am doing Daisy's again and my registration is Wednesday with my first meeting the next Wednesday. I am SUPER laid back when it comes to Daisy's I focus on making the girls happy and try and not overwhem my stuff with all the guidelines and such. Don't get me wrong the girls are safe and we do work toward achieving the ppatches and such but i want it to be fun!

We all feel pretty pathetic that we are still grieving pretty badly over Chelsea. It just has been so hard. My Mom just is not doing good still!

Mark has been working so we got that going for us.

We leave for Naples on October 6th. There is a MNSSHP on the 8th so I am still toying with that. One night? Two nights? Cheap...not cheap...use the resort or just sleep there.....

Magicfor2 (Tammie)I just cant imagine moving all the time. Obviously, since I am still in the house I grew up in! How is Arbonne going? Has this been your main focus these days or have you been enjoying the time away from home. See..you want to move and Kara doesn't! Too bad ya can't trade!
DizzyErin(Erin) I have been enjoying all your picture slowly but surely! I miss Big Brother. My guy didn't win but I am still determined to meet him since he lives so close to me.
tttessa (tessa)You and I are clutter, tat, knick knack, whatever ya wanna call it sister!!!! I am the clutter queen! I am not proud of it though!
Lovin Life ( Pam2)I wish I could post like you. I can tell you know how to type and you always pay attention to everybody! I appreciate it!
Camster0307(Cammie)Hope you start to find your routine as well.....I hope Lauren gets a lap top! Like I have already said we need a new computer and probably cable instead of DSL for the connection! I feel like I spend as much time waiting as I do working here on this dumb thing!
soontobewed07 (Jillian) How is the balancing act going? Are you working with out over doing it? Keep us updated on the female stuff too!
karajebo0 (Kara)I feel bad for you!!!!!! Maybe they will rethink it all and let him stay! I mean why make changes in these economic times?? On the other side though IF you have to move maybe you can explain to a Realtor that you want the exact same set up but in SC. Maybe it's out there? Aside form the longer drive to WDW.
UsNew2Disney2008(Renee) Always happy to see you stop by! Wish we all could sit here and gab all day! It would be so much less stressful then real life!
CrdisMom(Laura)I keep thinking about you with so many things....Daisy's, parenting, the loss of the puppies.... I wish you lived closer to me so we could hang out and help each other out! We could have been co-leaders for Daisy's! Oh wait your a big shot Brownie now!
LydiaI can not believe you will be there in 2 days! It will be so great! Don't ask about weather cause it can change on a dime anyway and there's nothing you can do about it, right?
Michelle How's it going at home? How long til that baby gets here!!! How exciting!
TinaLaLa(Tina) We are selling the fall fundraiser. I am against it too but we are a public school and not selling anything right now AND it does give the troop some nice money to work with. I do hate nickel and diming people though. I try not to do that all year.

OK Well feel free at anytime to BONK me on the head if I have missed stuff and please disregard my text rants if they come your way. Just trying not to take it out on the people standing in front of me!!!!!

Oh...one of my goals has been to upload my pix! NO LIE with photopass and starting at the WDW June trip until now I have uploaded over a thousand pix to shutterfly! Isn't that insane! I need to go through them next and delete the randoms!

Hi Ladies! Just a quick hello!

Debbie - HI! Nice to have you here. I have been making alot of Arbonne connections here - this place is wide open! I will have a team here soon! I think we may plan to retire here in a few years. Oh, about trading - there's no way Kara would want to live in Klamath Falls! I wouldn't wish that on anyone I love! :rotfl2:

Tina, I'm so happy your DD10 has a new friend!

Lydia! Have a great time!!! I can't believe it's time for your trip!:yay:

Hi to everyone else!

I thought I'd finish my story - almost forgot and probably not that exciting....

Since our last day was 12 hrs of driving, I decided i was not going to be in pain all the way home. I took a Vicodin - found a comfy position for my leg and fell asleep. Some place in Utah, Jim stopped for gas - got in a fight with the gas pump (we don't pump our own gas in Oregon, so we are frequently confused by the instructions or lack of on various pumps) So he sends drugged up me in to pay for the gas or ask them to turn it on. Do you see where this is going?

Yup! Do you remember the scene from "Sixteen Candles" when the big sister is getting married and she's taken drugs for her cramps? She's kind of stumbling down the aisle, itching her nose and blowing up her veil? That's how I felt when I got up and tried to function! :rotfl2:

I got inside the store - itching my nose, blinking my eyes - "ummm...wait minute, which pump is he at?....Oh yah, could you turn pump 2 on, he ran his card."

"Did he lift up on the lever?"
"I don't know."
"Well, tell him to pull up on the lever."
I walk outside - "Did you pull up on the lever?"
"WHAT LEVER????"
"I don't know."
"TELL HER I NEED THIS PUMP TURNED ON!!!!"
"He needs the pump turned on."
"Let me run your card again - is this the first time you've used the card in Utah?"
"Yes."
"Okay, sir" (in the microphone) "You can try it again."
He's outside shaking his head. I go outside - he comes storming up to the building - "did you get it?" "YES I GOT IT!!!!"
The attendant says, "I'm sorry for the confusion."
He stomps off to the restroom.
"Don't worry about him, he gets frustrated easily - we don't pump our own gas at home." Itch, blow. "Have a nice day."

I'm sure she didn't notice, or she was thinking, "why is she stoned at 8am?"
:hippie:

Since the first Vicodin worked so well, I took another one later in the day. No more crazy incidents - just a nice pain free day!

It is beautiful here, as you've seen, the people are the nicest people I've ever met, except for a few DISboarders I know :goodvibes I definately could get used to living here!

hey there buddies!

Got the carpet cleaned today. Whoo-hoo! My house smells so fresh. I also took a big step and bought curtins!!! Yes 10+ yrs in the house and no drapes in the living room just blinds. It will look better once Tim gets the trim done around the window. I,m guessing some time in 2014 that will happen. Yes I said 2014. For those that follow the bathroom drama--the one that broke before we went to disney 18 mos ago. It still isnt finished. Thus the long time line. I try not to be disappointed or it sux. just kidding it should be done this year. Fingers crossed.

Debbie glad you jumped back in. Yes I would so lead with you only if we lived closer. I have often thought how weird would it be just to jump in the car and drive down for lunch with you someday. I thought of jumping on a plane today. On the way to IKEA, delta has a billboard with rates to Jacksonville that were fantastic. I thought it might push me over the creepy internet friend meter just a bit though. Love ya kara.

im ignoring the new protocol that the girl scouts are sending out. I think this may be our last year. Really not thrilled with it. My girls love what we are doing and I am just going to keep up with that. The leadership will come with the more fun they have. We have a fall encampment next month so on Thursday we are going to make first aid kits and sit-upons. always be prepared.

Lydia--whoot whoot! have agreat time in BLT. You have to take lots of photos so we see what the new place is like.

Cammie- glad to see that you got stuff sone this weekend. How is the BNW doing? (itchy new wife) Hope she recovered and how are the girls with the baby? When is Jo Bros take 2?

Tammie-Boise sounds great. Plus the football team is doing well. It had to be hard moving. I'm still in the same town I graduated from.

jillian-hope things are better

lorrie-glad to see you tyoo

tina- hope scouts gets better soon. We're not doing fall product either.

Kids are pounding on the bathroom door. So much for a relaxing tub.

I told Jeff I will of course do whatever, but I may go kicking and screaming.
Man, to be wanted like Jeff! :rolleyes1 Well, you live in paradise, I must say. You know my vote, they buy your house or don't even consider it. FLs housing market should start turning in a few years, but it isn't like you guys would move anytime soon. It would be REALLY hard for me to leave there. Not only do you have a lot of ammenities, but you UTILIZE them. I kinda hope it works out for you to stay... so I can read more drunken storm reports from your bunker!:lmao:

We leave for Naples on October 6th. There is a MNSSHP on the 8th so I am still toying with that. One night? Two nights? Cheap...not cheap...use the resort or just sleep there.....

[
Wow that isn't long away at all. Oh, listen, now I"m in your shoes. GASP we weren't going to go to MK at all, but they're having the wishes dessert party there on the "party" nights. :rolleyes1 But I' won't give up Le Cellier for it. :snooty: If it is a short stay, you know you will max your time in the park, so I'd say stay cheap - but do a preferred room at the value if you can. That way you are super close to the bus stops/pool/everything and maybe "treat" yourself to some little splurge that you want to make you feel better about it. If you are just going to sleep there, I vote value. Even though the bedding was "nicer" at the mod, like Jeff - for the money I just dont' see it. :confused3

Okay, I just jumped in on the last page, but my curiosity is peaked about Tessa now, so I'm going back to skim. Trying to get serious bout dieting. :sad2:I must get my act together. Since my blood pressure MEDICATED is running 150/101 (calling dr tomorrow - don't freak out), it is time to seriously do something. ERRR.

My trip is soon! :cool1: But I am sweating major bullets! BFF hasn't paid her portion off yet. I don't like getting things down to the wire like this. :headache:

Well baby stuff is moving along. They are sending me to a reproductive endocrinologist and found out that I have an adenoma on my parathyroid. I am feeling well and AF has stopped for a whole week. AMAZING:cloud9:
I want to thank all of you for your support and tell you that you are the most amazing friends I have never met - Well besides Kara.

Love you all hope you are having great weather like we are having here. :grouphug:
Okay I'm so glad they figured it out, and will begin getting you fixed up! Just educate yourself and take care of yourself! I liked the decor of CSR. WE LOVE Mexico. I loved the theme. I could go my whole lifetime not going back to CSR and live quite happily. Seriously, I can be a total hotel snob, but we were on the Rancheros, which is about a half mile from the front. By the end of our week, I was so flippin sick of that walk. With the kids, we walked it a lot - for milk, etc. I HATED that at the end of the trip. Mostly because it was 100 degrees too, mind you. The bedding was nicer, you had a door to the bathroom - which only got used by the kids closing and opening it over and over and over and over and....

If you got in the front, might be fine, but we requested the front, and paid for a preferred view. I got the back of the resort while psycho friend got the room I wanted. :headache::rolleyes1 in the Cabanas. She complained about walking, but it was only .25 mile for her. I dunno. I love Mexico and the theme, but I don't know that I'd stay there again - WITHOUT A CAR! If you have a car though, that would change a lot I guess. The parking was pretty close to all the buildings. :)

Lorrie - I don't think I'll ever feel like I have it all together. Get some rest, and take care of yourself. The house can wait!!
:rotfl:You haven't seen my house! It is like a TAT bomb went off! :lmao:

HEY CAMMIE! Glad to hear all is well. Busy here too. Hope the girls are enjoying school.

Tessa
Tessa, I bounced a bit. We moved when I was 11, 12, 13 & 14 and I got REALLY SICK OF IT! It was exceptionally hard to leave friends behind in middle school for me. We called/wrote for a couple years but eventually moved on. It was really hard. Just be there for her to listen, and support her chatting by email maybe? It was always easier that way than when the person just left and dropped all contact - like some families did. :confused3

Moving sucks. Ive done it 14 times. I never had close freinds as a kid cause we only stayed in one place for about a year. I learned to make freinds very eaisly. I do wonder what happened to some of my old ones but thats it. \

Cammie- Time to yourself rocks! Im working 4 days a week now and cant wait to have one WHOLE day to do all the stuff I never have time to do.
Dizzy- Cool never knew tat had two meanings! I have lots of tat around my house LOL. I guess my problem is I keep useful junk, You know, 50 design magizines, 4 fish tanks (just in case), A few mismatched chairs (for company that I never have), art suplies(for the visiting kids, yea..). But my biggest guiltest thing is BLANKETS AND QUILTS, I still have my first big girl quilt from when I was 3!
lydia- you better tell us all about your vacation! I cant go till next year
magic- whats Arbonne? I hear you guys mentioning it alot and Im confused.
lovin- Im thinking of a pair of handcuffs with a rose and mabey a little tinkerbell.
Lydia - cool etsy. I used to have one.
tttessa- cornwall? is that in englund? (I teach preschool, cut me some slack). cheetos rock.

I promise I will try to post more. Did I brag that I got a new kitty? My mom gave me hers since she wasnt being a good freind to her 14 year old cat. She adopted a new kitty who fits in great. Holly fits in here with the other two but... She's loud, shes pushy, and she has no sence of RULES!! I hate cats on my table! Anyone got a trip report for me to read? I need some good disney energy. I cant wait for our trip. Heck im even saving 10 cent return soda bottles. In michigan you pay 10 cents extra on soda in the bottle or can, but you can return these bottles and cans for your 10 cents back. Most people just pitch them so I go garbage picking (and so does my university custodian mom) and return them. Im up to 20 this time. I also save tin cans to recycle. What do you guys do to save for trips? this is one of my biggest worrys. I also worry I wont be able to get a digital camera for mom at the black friday sales. At least all I need for:santa: time is two travel journals, two pretty disney pens and a photo book.
