Looking for Breckenridge, CO info

Not quite sure what you mean by "condo on the property of a lodge"? Do you mean something at the ski area? If so, the ski area websites will have information on accommodations and links to make reservations, you'll pay more, but they're centrally located, and most of them are condos and not hotel rooms.

We went to Breckenridge for our 1st time over the week of Thanksgiving this year. We are from the South also and was really worrying about if it was going to snow while we were there. It snowed ALOT! We rented a house on the outskirts of town from VRBO, it is a large home and will give you the name if you are interested. We had 9 adults and 6 small children. We had plans to snowmobile, but a stomach virus that went thru the entire family cancelled those plans. We did spend alot of time walking around and visiting the shops downtown and most of us went to the adventure park for tubing. We also enjoyed riding the gondolas to the top of the peaks for sightseeing (its free). We had a big yard that we took turns playing and sledding in. We stopped at a grocery store on the way and bought alot of food and cooked most of the meals, but we threw out alot of the food we bought. I think the altitude decreased all of our appetites (and of course the virus). If you are driving I would recommend spending a night in Denver to help you adjust to the altitude change before continuing. All of us spent at least 24 hrs in Denver and none of us experienced any altitude sickness except increased shortness of breath. We didn't have 4 wheel drive on our SUV, but we had to drive one of our daughter's SUV to Frisco the night before we returned home to get chains for our car before we could leave. We had several babies in our group so we had to take turns doing any activities, but we knew that in advance and planned accordingly. We just wanted snow and to be together over the Holiday.
