Looking for any advice on Disney Cruise

Let me give you some background information first to explain the situation we are in and then what our options for cruise might be:

We currently have a reservation at SSR for 6/5-10/2005 for 155 points. Two bedroom since we are a family of 6 including 2 teens.

We would have another 95 points available for the cruise in 2005.
If we waited until 2006, we would have another 150 or 345 total.

Since we would need 2 cabins, that doesn't give us near enough points and the cash only price for all of us would be nearly $5K.

For 2005, the points required for cruise would be for category 10:

1st room: 131 for the first adult and 89 for one child under 13
2nd room: 131 for the first adult and 89 for one child under 13
3rd person in each room for the teens would be $962 cash each.
So that would be 456 points + $2000 cash ($962+$962+$75 fee)

But we only have 250 points available for June 2005 and if we did wait until 2006, I know the points required for cruise will increase.

My idea is to take advantage of the 130 SSR add-on offer at $85 per points and use 130 of the 2005 points and 76 of the 2006 add on points. We also would get the 2 "free" annual passes.

Doing the add on would give us enough points for the cruise in 2005 and also give us plenty of points again in 2007 for another trip somewhere. My thinking was why spend $5000 in cash now for the cruise and have nothing to show for it when it is over, but instead to buy more points, use them for the cruise and then to have added DVC points for the remaining 47 years in the future.

Any comments, suggestions, or opinions are more than welcome.
Thanks,
Rex

Can't really help with any advice, but I think the "cruise costs" you quoted are not correct.

IIRC, the first two persons in a cabin pay adult rates (even if the 2nd person is a child). Believe that is true whether you pay in points or cash. If so, you will be paying 262 points per cabin (rather than 220), plus the MS-negotiated cash rate for the 3rd person.

This will bump you up and maybe someone else can confirm and offer advice.

Best wishes -
