Hi all
quite some time ago, a kind DISer posted a recipe that used ramen noodles..I think some kind of slaw maybe?..I am looking in vain for that recipe to use for a family reunion..I had it saved into documents a long time ago, but never got to printing it out or copying it to my recipe book, and of course we have had to reformat the computer since then and I lost it..can anyone remember what I am referring to and point me in the right direction?
Thanks in Advance

Lynn

Here's a basic recipe that I've been making for years, though I do different versions from time to time.

Chicken/ Ramen Salad:
1 cooked chicken breast shredded or cubed
1/2 head of cabbage
4 green onions chopped
1 pkg (uncooked) chicken top ramen (sometimes I toast these with the nuts)

1/2 c almond slivers\
2 T sesame seeds / toast these 2 ingredients for 15 minutes @ 350

Salad Dressing:
2T sugar
3T vinegar
1/2c oil
1t salt
1/2t pepper
1/2 pkg flavoring from ramen
mix or shake and add to salad (I add the dressing right before serving)

Sometimes I use the pre-shreded slaw cabbage or different variations of lettuce and salad green's. Sometimes I add more of the listed ingredients or add something else. It's really great no matter what!

My oriental cole slaw recipe is a little different:

Ingredients:
2 bunches of scallions-chopped
2 packages beef Raman noodles-crushed
1 16oz package cole slaw (plain, no dressing)
1 cup slivered almonds
1 cup dry roasted sunflower seeds

Dressing: Stir together:
1/2 - 3/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
flavor packages from Raman noodles

Assemble:
Crumble noodles in bottom of bowl
Layer: chopped scallions
almonds and sunflower seeds
cole slaw
Cover with dressing
Refrigerate overnight
Stir right before serving

what are ramen noodles?
In the US it's marketed as Top Ramen and is sold in the soup aisle at the grocery store. They are extremely inexpensive, like 10 for $1.00 on sale. It's a package with these uncooked skinny noodles and a flavor packet. They are available in several different flavors. Usually a diet staple for broke college students.

This is the one I use also, except I use broccoli slaw instead of cole slaw.:thumbsup2
