Looking for a video camera

DH & I are looking for a reasonably priced video camera. Our camera we have now is a Sony and we love it!! It takes videos but they can't be formatted off the disc-ugh. (Probably more of an operator issue.) anyway, is there any that you all would suggest or even suggest staying away from? TIA

You'll have to define reasonably priced. For some that's $200. For others it's $2000. Also, what do you plan to do with the video you shoot?

I'm thinking $350 or less would be fantastic. We have a newborn so it'd be family video type footage. We just want to be able to capture his big moments. My iPhone just isn't cutting it anymore! Lol

What is it about your iPhone that you're not happy with? Image quality? Lack of zoom? Something else? Knowing what you're unhappy with can make it easier to point you in a direction. And the further you can narrow down what you want or don't want the easier your search will be.

Lack of space-that or I need to figure out how to somehow get videos from my phone to a DVD or something. Can u do that? Or do u just upload them to YouTube? I feel like I should know more about this stuff than I do but I don't. Thanks for your help.

Easy enough to use multiple methods to transfer a video from iphone to your computer. And then just like using any other video camera, you can choose to burn the video onto DVD, or use editing software. But whenever you sync your iphone to your computer, it should give you the option to upload all your photos and videos. Unless your iphone's memory is packed (make sure you delete videos after they are uploaded), you should be able to hold a significant amount of video.... hours and hours worth.

I guess iPhone videos woul need to be converted from .mov to mpeg 2 to play on most DVD players, but you don't need to convert if you just want to backup data.
