We have stayed both on and off property at Disneyworld. During out last stay we rented a vacation home through the owners and loved it! Fast forward to this year…we contacted the same owners again and sent in our deposit back in February. But the unthinkable happened. A week ago the owner contacted me and had to cancel our stay as they needed to sell their Florida home due to the economy
. I was in a panic, as EVERYTHING is done for the trip, and we LOVE having our own home to come back to after a day of touring, with our own pool, 3 bedrooms, and 4 TV so everyone can chill out to their own thing.
The owners gave me the email of the property manager, who handles several homes in the area. I immediately emailed her and called her, as I wanted a home in the same community and needed it done ASAP. After about 1 hour (and this was at 6pm on a Sunday evening) Robin called me back. I briefly gave a description of my problem to her on her answering machine, and she said I sounded a little panicked (or stressed, or anxious…you get the picture).
She and her husband manage several properties on their website www.fvhl.com (which stands for Florida Vacations Homes and Lawns, as they also do landscaping) Robin was extremely helpful, assured me she would be able to find us something nice for our vacation, and basically calmed me down (and my husband was ever so grateful
). She was able to get me a rental that was available for the same dates, as plane tickets had been bought months ago.
I know that several people ask about vacation homes on the boards, and we have actually stayed in 3 homes that Robin has managed, and I can assure you that the homes are in beautiful condition, all have pools and Jacuzzis, and are great to escape the hectic pace parks to unwind. They are literally a 5 minute drive to the Welcome sign, directly off of 192 West. The homes are located right behind the now defunct Splendid China theme park, for those who know the area.
I wanted to let my DIS friends know about the website, www.fvhl.com . Robin was a godsend
, extremely nice to speak with, and worked tirelessly to get me and my family back on track with a nice vacation home! I cannot thank her enough! With her permission, I wanted to let you all now about her website, in case you were interested in a vacation home.
I know this is getting very L O N G, but please feel free to PM me if you want specifics about the area the homes are located in, and please take a look at the website. Each home is featured on the vacation home page, and you can see a slide show of all of the rooms in the house. She also accepts credit cards for those of you a little leery about handing over a check to someone you don’t know very well. One of the homes that is on her site actually has a Mickey Mouse shaped Jacuzzi
and we have stayed in that home. The Jacuzzi is huge, more like a small pool to my kids, who were 1 and 8 at the time.
