I'm discovering there are so many restaurants at the WDW resort I am having trouble sifting through them all. We will be heading to AK and MGM, along with another day on the property, and plan to eat at the Sci-Fi and 50s primetime. However, could someone suggest a restaurant with a very unique/fun theme and/or atmosphere? The food doesn't have to be great, but I would like the experience to be. Something above and beyond Rainforest Cafe (we have one in Seattle), however similar in the way the decor represents the name. Thanks.

I think Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge is a good choice for a fun themed restaurant. I am planning on eating there, haven't been yet, but it gets great reviews here for food and atmosphere.

OHanas at the Poly is fun.Not as wild as the others but they have hula hoop contests and coconut races for the kids. We liked the style of service. First an appetizer platter and then they bring turkey, steak, shrimp and pork and serve you from giant skewers. The first time we went we had a view of the castle..very cool.

Whispering Canyon at WL I think is the most fun, then Ohana at Poly is great too.

'Ohana is my most favorite restaurant in "the world."

Another vote for Whispering Canyon! We arrive at MCO at 4:17 P.M., and have an ADR for WCC at 8:30 to kick off the trip and get in the Disney spirit.

I am not a big fan of character dining but, Chef Mickey's is fun! We start every trip there.

Oops Rainforest was my first thought but then I re-read your post. Where themeing is concerned it doesn't get much better in our opinon but for fun Whispering Canyon is definately my first thought!!

Whispering Canyon
Beaches & Cream
50's Prime Time
Sci-Fi
Biergarten (Germany in EPCOT has a nice show during dinner)

My DH and I went to Whispering Canyon a couple of time for breakfast (we were staying at WL) and it is a Hoot!

If you have kids they get to ride the ponies and don't forget to ask for ketsup or it is catsup?

We really love L'Originale Alfredo di Roma at Italy in Epcot. Very neat ambiance and the service is outstanding. The food is worth every nickel. You know it's good italian when it's being served by a guy named Vito (I was on my best behavior :rotfl2: ).

I'd definately say Ohana's ! We had a blast there! We didn't have such a great time at Whispering Canyon or Prime time recently! Must have hit them on an off day! Beaches and Cream at The beach club resort is pretty cool!

Sci Fi
50's Prime Time
Brown Derby
Rainforst Cafe
Planet Hollywood

I've haven't eaten there yet, but I've heard rave reviews of the Rainforest Cafe in AK.

Can someone point me in the direction of a link that describes this restaurant - the theme, the menu, etc? :flower:

Thanks for the suggestions. It looks like we'll make plans to head over to Whispering Canyon, and maybe a couple others people suggested. I wonder if the Rainforest Cafe in AK is done up differently than the one we have here in Seattle. It was a fun experience the first several times we went there, but I want to try something different this go around.

Now that I think about it, the restaurant in Mexico at Epcot had a neat atmosphere too. I tend to enjoy those outdoor themes, and Mexico seemed to have been done up very well with the night market, star lit sky, and river.

Look up the pictures in the food pictures thread up above in the stickies, but this is what you could eat at WCC:
