Looking for a new printer

I used to have a decent printer - Epson Stylus 440 but it just stopped working years ago. So, now I"m looking for a printer, something to print up regular day to day documents. I dont need a photo printer at the moment, just a decent, fair priced all around good machine.
So, hit me with your best recommendations please!!

Is color required at all??

We have a Hewlett Packard DeskJet 970Cse, and we like it. It's color and black and white.

I just got a Lexmark X75. It's actually an 'all in one' printer (you can copy, scan and fax as well). I found it at BJ's. What really impressed me was that it came with full size ink tanks, not just those few use types that come with some other printers. The color and black in sell for $65 for both cartridges. I got the printer for $89!! I figured it basically cost be $24 more than just replacing the cartridges from the old Z33 I had.

We have the HP 5550 and love it. It was only $149 and I see it on sale at times for $139 or with a $30 gift card rebate. It is full color and a great printer. Prints photos beautifully as well as day to day printing. It also has received wonderful reviews for being a moderately priced printer.

If color, another HP user here. I have a several year old model the Photosmart 1000, and am very happy with it. The current color HP's run from about $150 to $300, all very good.
