Congrats and welcome home Neighboor!

We are still debating whether to buy a smaller point allotment through resale or buy 150 directly. Can someone send me referral info if we decide to buy through Disney?

Also, how long does the closing process take? Am I correct that we have to close by month-end to receive the discount or do we just have to sign the contract?

Thanks.

I have PM'd you my contact info.

Disney closing is pretty painless.

Resale closing can take 3-5 weeks before you are in Disney's System.

I have had add-ons via Disney available the same day I 'ordered' them over the phone!

My understanding is that as long as you have a committment made (ie: deposit) before the program end, closing doesn't matter. We put a deposit on an add on and have yet to close because we are going end of the month and will sign the papers there. We were told that closing will be delayed because of this but all the papers are for the discount included.

I have several (stupid) questions, and I am not sure if someone has addressed them in this thread yet, or I am just confused/excited by this offer.

It sounds like to me that if I get a refural from a DVC owner I can buy into SS for $83.30 a point, but it has to be done by Feb 1, 2006?

150 points must be bought, min, but I could buy as much as I could talk DH into?

Who pays the closing? Me or Disney?

10% of the sale is required to buy, and that is based on the $98 a point or the $83.30 a point price? ( I read about both ways earlier in this thread...so confused!)

We would get all the points (150, or what ever we bought...) for 2005, and that is like instant availabel usage... after it gets in the system, of course. So that is like 1 year free upfront points?

How can I talk DH into this... we own 21000 points at another timeshare....

Yes the down payment and paper work has to be completed by Feb 1st.Disney pays closing.I am not real sure on the down payment but I can find out.Yes you would get all of 2005 and then you would recieve your 2006.
BTW, no question is a stupid question. :teeth:

We did this in August. I bought 250 points and put 2400.00 down. I guess that was 10%of the original price. We got a "credit" from Disney for around 2000.00 and financed through Disney approx. 19,000.00.

There were no closing costs. We got all of 05 points which we actually rented to others at 10.00 a point and paid our downpayment (we put it on the Disney visa to get no intrest for 6 months). It worked out really well. I can get our paperwork out and give you more specifics if you want to pm me.

Sounds like you've got it too me!!! :rotfl: Just two things.. No closing costs when you buy through Disney and I don't know how to get it by your DH! :goodvibes Maybe this will help! :wizard: :wizard: :wizard:

ALL you pay is the price per point! If you are financing, those arrangements will apply to your lender. Good luck and PM if you need a referral, time is running out! :sunny:

Jeff question about putting deposit on Disney Visa for free 6 months interest. Did you have an exsisting Disney card or sign up for new on. Oh I see you did it in Aug. That deal might have ended. I was looking at the DVC site and Visa site and didn't see that. Only 6mon interest on new a new card. Thanks Carol

Carol,
Do you have a mileage card? That's what we did! Then we transferred the balance over to our HELOC and a really low interest card that we have. Now we have a free plane ticket.
Stephanie

Thanks Stephanie, I travel SW so don't have an airline miles card. I guess I will put it on the Disney card and get the rewards points then transfer to a low interest card just have to be careful to transfer it quickly. Always trying to find the best way. Thanks again for answering. Carol :earsgirl:

Same old story... My wife and I took the DVC tour a few days ago and are seriously considering an initial purchase. In order to get the best discount, we need the name (and other info?) of an existing member. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
ByWm
