Hi all

Just looking for a little feedback on the following restaurants before I make the rest of my ADR's. Trying to narrow these down.

The Wave
Big River Grille
Captains Grille
Kouzzina
Kona Cafe
Mama Melroses
Restaurant Marrakesh
Raglan Road

Dining with 3 adults, an 11yearold and 8yearold.

Thanks!

Hi! I can comment on a few.

The Wave-tried it in November and really enjoyed it! Husband's favorite on that trip

Big River Grille-can't make an ADR here until 24 hours prior. It was ok, but was freezing inside! Good one if you don't have an ADR and want to do a walk up. Otherwise, I'd probably skip it.

Kouzzina- Haven't been, yet, but are trying it for breakfast on our next trip. I have heard great things about this one.

Kona Cafe- Absolutley! LOVE this restaurant, dinner and breakfast. A great choice!

Restaurant Marrakesh-Did this one a few years ago and enjoyed it. You get good food and entertainment. I love the atmosphere and location of this place.

Hope this helps! Have fun planning!

Thanks so much Beth, I didn't realize that about Big River! The Wave is one that I'm really interested in, so it's nice to hear such good feedback on it. I have reservations at Tutto Italia for May but rumblings are that it may still be closed for refurb so maybe I should switch that to Marrakesh??

You are welcome! I would definitely do the Wave. I don't eat seafood and really enjoyed the pork dish. My husband loves seafood and really enjoyed his meal there.
My niece and her new husband honeymooned in WDW. Their absolute favorite restaurant was Tutto Italia. So, if it's open I'd say go there. But if not, Marrakesh is a nice alternative. The architecture is really nice if you take time to look at it, too. We did Marrakesh at the spur of the moment and were able to get a reservation the same day.

Good luck!

I've tried a few of these on your list:

The Wave-- I really enjoy this place for dinner (haven't tried breakfast or lunch). The service is always great and the food is delicious! I love the atmosphere too. Just sort of upscale and modern.

Big River Grille-- This is a good place to go to try new beer, but the food is nothing special. Kind of typical chain (Applebee's-esque) food, but slightly better and more expensive. This restaurant also exists in other places so it isn't exclusively Disney.

Kona Cafe-- I enjoy their breakfast a lot! I haven't tried other meals-- the menu is very Asian-influenced and if I were looking for that kind of food, I'd choose Yak and Yeti first.

Restaurant Marrakesh-- We ate here maybe 4-5 years ago and loved it. The atmosphere is really cool and the entertainment is fun to watch. We really liked the food, too! Different, but not too exotic or heavily spiced (at least what I ordered, which I think was a lemon chicken dish).

Raglan Road-- One of my favorite restaurants on site. If you can, eat here when the Irish dancers are on (last week, on a Sunday, they started at 6:30pm. We called from our room to find out when they'd be performing that night). You can make ADRs, but we've had success just walking up, even at busy times. I love the Guinness ribs and the bread and butter pudding!

Some additional thoughts:

Big River Grille - Ate a nice, casual lunch here on our last trip staying at BWV. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but good if you're staying at the Boardwalk or in the area.

Captains Grille - Ate here once for lunch on the Deluxe Dining Plan. Literally between my wife and I for all three courses one item was good and one item was terrible. Will not go back -- 50% is too low of a success rate for a meal.

Kouzzina - I think this one is a matter of personal tastes, maybe moreso than other places. My wife thought her chicken dish was too sweet. My greek lasagna was sweet as well, but I like sweet foods and really enjoyed it. And I really liked her chicken when I tried it. :)

Kona Cafe - I think our favorite non-signature restaurant. Never had a bad meal in four tries. Sushi menu is good as well. HIGHLY recommend.

Mama Melrose - Hit or miss, a little more on the miss -- in general we just don't think their tomato sauce is that good. If you can stick to other items, it's not that bad. (They have a pipette pasta with cream sauce and chicken or shrimp that is pretty good.) It's too bad Tutto Italia may not be open, that is MUCH better than MM.

Overall these reviews may sound somewhat critical, but in general we're of the camp that the dining in WDW is actually quite good. You say you're rounding out your ADRs, so hopefully the rest of your choices are on our good list. :) Enjoy!

Captains Grille - We were here a few weeks ago and ordered the snow crab legs. They were just ok. I personally like Red Lobster better. I had the turtle cheese cake. It looked so pretty and yummy and then I bit into it and YUCK... It was like a maple cheese cake. I didn't like it.

Mama Melroses - We
ate here for the fantasmic dining package. I love the decor. It was a dark place with little lights all around. The seating for fantasmic was awesome and we showed up for the show 15 minutes before show time! The dining package comes with an appetiser even if you don't have appetisers included in your dining package. We has caesar salad, yummy. I had a steak and my daughter had the chicken parmesana. Food was good. We were very satisfied.

The Wave - Ate here a couple of times, and it was just ok. I'd eat here again if I wanted an ADR in the area and availablility was limited, but not in any specific rush to eat here again.

Kona Cafe - We've always had good meals here. Especially love the sticky wings appetizer. Trying it for breakfast for the first time on our next trip, because I have to try the infamous Tonga Toast.

Mama Melroses - I think this one gets a worse rep than it deserves, but I don't go there expecting "real" Italian food. I've found the service to be fine, and the food is decent. Not my first choice at DHS, but it is on the list for this next trip.

Restaurant Marrakesh - Love this restaurant. We always make sure we eat here at least once on each trip. Love the food, and the atmosphere. And it seems like you can also always get an ADR here. I don't understand why it isn't more popular.

Raglan Road - Another favorite. We make sure we get here for a meal on each trip. I prefer to go at at off time - like a late lunch - when the restaurant is quieter, because I enjoy the peaceful respite from the heat and bustle of an afternoon of shopping at DTD.

Hope this helps!

The two that I would probably leave out if I had to would be Marrakesh or Mama Melrose. I found the food very bland at Marrakesh (but my opinion can be tainted since I'm spoiled by a Moroccan friend who is an amazing cook), and while Mama Melrose is good for the experience, like others have said, the food is hit or miss.
