Grandma wants to take the extended family to WDW to celebrate her 85th birthday. (Tough deal, huh?!? :earboy2: ) There are 13 adults, and 7-8 kids ranging from 2 to 17.

Since the family is spread out across the country and rarely is able to get together, she really wants everyone to stay in one house. I've done a lot of searching online, and the largest house I can find is 7 bedrooms. We'd need at least 9 bedrooms to accommodate everyone, but I'm having no luck finding one.

Does anyone have any idea aobut how I can find a bigger house?

Thanks!

7 bedrooms is the biggest you can get, we were going out 2 years ago for a family celebration and were told then that the state will not licence anything bigger than 7 beds because then they need a sprinkler system or something and it becomes a hotel ??.
Your best bet is to rent 2 homes next door to each other, should be easy as they have homes of all sizes, contact an owner direct and ask if they have a neighbour with a place.

7 beds is the biggest licensed home above that as martina says they are classed as a hotel and need different regulations.I know of 4 5 beds all next door to each other if you need a starting point each home sleeps 10 in the bedrooms with another 2 on rollaways

We rented a big house in Emerald Island last year...not big enough for your group but big enough for us (10 adults and 7 kids). The house had a 'twin' next door though. I believe they were called 'Palm Harbor' I and II. We were pleased with the one we stayed in.

There are a few on Formosa Gardens which might be big enough for your party. I'm pretty sure the regulations relate to the number of people the homes are licensed for, not the number of bedrooms. I think the maximum permitted is 16, although I imagine some owners will take more. I'm not condoning the breaking of any regulations, nor do I have any wish to start a debate, but it may be worth contacting a few of these to see what they have to say about it.

There are many areas were you can ask for homes close by for larger groups. There is a reason for the limit. Be safe and comfortable. I am not sure it would be a very good vaca if there wasn't enough room. 2 homes side by side or in walking distance would be a better choice.

Hi, having owned in Emerald Island I do know that there are side by side 7 bedroom houses in Emerald Island at the www.fhvr.net site...not my site and I do not get a commission, just know they are available...

good luck..Ted

UK Deb - any owner that takes more people that they are licensed for is taking a very big risk of losing their license and not being able to rent any longer.

Just a suggestion , you can do 3 or 4 condo all together and achieve the same.
I have done that for several family reunions.

Hi,

I don't think you'll find a house to fit approx 20 ppl. Try www.roysdisneyvillas.com. He has two houses in the same neighborhood that aren't far from each other. We stayed in villa #2 in January and loved it!

In my search I've found at least two situations where an owner has two houses/villas side by side. One I saw yesterday was Casa Minnie & Mickey - I can't remember how many br's they had. We've been looking in Emerald Isle & Windsor Palms.

Good Luck - have to say, with those numbers I think spreading btw two houses would be easier on everyone! Go Gramma!

Good Luck!

I am sure you will have a wonderful time...ain't Grammas wonderful!!!

What about the Perri House B&B (http://www.perrihouse.com/index.html) ? It's fairly close to WDW and you can rent the entire place for yoru family. It's probably not big enough for your needs, but the thought of having breakfast taken care of plus having access to kitchen facilities (if you like) *and* included daily light housekeeping...
I've never stayed there, but it sounds awfully nice...

just a thought,
agnes!
