Next Friday I am driving about 5 hrs by myself & was wondering if anyone had read any good books lately that I could listen to on CD. Don't worry if you know it's on CD or not - I'll take your suggestions to our library & see what they have there. :)

TIA!

It depends on what genre you like.

As you can probably tell by my avatar and sig, I'm a Doctor Who fan which is more on the science fiction end. Anyways, there are a few audio dramas that I really enjoy. The four I own are, Pest Control, The Day of the Troll, The Resurrection Casket, and The Last Voyage. Each of them are about 2 1/2 hours long and are available on iTunes for about $10.

Hope that helps! :thumbsup2

I listened to Steve Martin's biography "Born Standing Up" on a trip once and enjoyed it immensely. He reads it, so that makes it that much better. (If you are a fan.)

I am the queen of audio books -so forgive me if I run on a bit

If you like romantic suspense -the "In Death" Series by JD Robb are all available for download (I don't know about CD) they are a bit graphic though with strong language. The first one is called "Naked in Death"

Also -if by some small chance you haven't done Harry Potter -they are excellent on CD

Agatha Christie -I have a few favorites "The Mirror Cracked" "Death on the Nile"

A Young adult book that is good -"The Hunger Games" I listened to it and enjoyed it immensely

If you need more suggestions let me know

I listened to Water for Elephants on tape and it was great. The voices were perfect and the story is just awesome.

I also listened to 19 Minutes on tape too. Great book and wonderful audio ... however, the book is intense!

Water for Elephants is a good one. I read it last summer. I read The Help recently and it was great! I'd recommend it highly!

I just finished The Help ... wow, I couldn't put it down. It was one of the best books I have read in a long time!

I just LOVED the maid Minny!!!! Small spoiler in white font below!

(Chocolate pie will ALWAYS make me think if that book!!)

I recently read "Look Again" by Lisa Scottoline. Lots of twists and turns. I couldn't put it down.

The Help by Kathryn Stockett would be a wonderful book to listen to. It's one of the best books I've read in a while

The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold (it is intense in some parts so if you don't like that this book wouldn't be for you)

The Time Travelers Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

If you like Chick Lit heres a couple suggestions

Baby Proof by Emily Giffin

The Nanny Diaries by Emma McLaughlin and Nicola Kraus

Most Biographies/Autobiographies are good as well.

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate your suggestions!! I'll for sure take those with me to the library next week and see what I can find.

Thanks again!! Have a great weekend!! :wizard:

I just finished listening to "The Sound and The Fury" by Faulkner. It's a wonderful recording. It's one that I'll listen to time and time again. ::yes::

We enjoy the Harry Potter CD's when we go on trips.
