Hi Everyone,

We are planning a vacation in April and were going to book at the Nick Hotel but are now considering a condo/villa. There are a billion different places to book on the internet, but I would feel better being referred by someone who has been there and seen them in person. Any suggestions for a 2 bedroom unit in a kid friendly resort?

Thanks

Kristie :wave2:

For feb, we booked thru hotelkingdom a 2 bedroom at Cypress Pointe for about $99/night. Three bedrooms run about $140/night. Actually, this forum and trip advisor helped me make my decision.

Here's a website where you can check out Windsor Hills Resort, brand new 5* resort built in 2005 by Pulte Homes consisting of 2/3 bedroom condos, 3 bedroom townhomes with private pool, and 4/5/6 bedroom pool homes. A typical 3BR/3BA townhome with private pool goes for approx. $115/night in Feb (low season), rates do vary by season and range from $110-150 per night for a townhome just to give you an idea of the rates, a 2 bedroom condo would go for even less! The Windsorhillsrent website link above allows you to rent directly from the owners and "cut out the middleman" so to speak, bypassing entities like booking agents or management companies. April (depending on which part of the month) is sometimes considered high season, and is booking up extremely fast (we've been booked solid for months now). You can go on the site, decide what kind of place / how many bedrooms you want, then send out a "3 bedroom inquiry" or a "general inquiry"...which will go out to all of the owners with that type of property, who will then get back to you with quotes / additional information, and give you dozens of places and choices to choose from! There aren't that many 2 bedroom condos, so you might want to send out a 3 bedroom inquiry as well, they are not that much more expensive much of the time, and in the case of a townhome, then you also get your own private pool too!

From that website:

Some of the magnificent features of this guard-gated community include a luxurious water park pool and clubhouse with fountains, waterslide, and a hot tub lagoon spa. The amazing clubhouse over-looking the pool has a game room, HD movie theater, state of the art fitness center, and has billiards tables, and a video game area, a sundry shop, fitness room with top of the line fitness equipment, high definition surround sound movie theater, and other outdoor recreational activities such as outdoor poolside ping pong, all surrounding the heated Double Olympic Size Swimming Pool with waterslide! The clubhouse and lagoon hot tub area are set next to a beautiful wetlands area, amidst lush tropical landscaping throughout the whole resort. Play outdoor ping pong next to the amazing resort pool, or take the Windsor Hills shuttle to one of the many close theme parks, or play golf at one of the many Orlando championship courses, we're right next door to Mystic Dunes! (#2 rated course in Orlando area).

There’s more! The newly opened resort recreation area (November 2006), has lighted tennis courts, sand volleyball, lighted basketball courts, as well as a newly opened golf practice putting/chipping green area. Next, there’s a state of the art children’s playground area. The unique, castle themed playground has something for everyone. A dragon guards the drawbridge over the moat and once inside, children and imaginations run wild! Whether it’s a quiet game of jumbo chess or rescuing a damsel in distress from the castle dungeon, boys and girls of all ages are sure to find a one of a kind play experience.

Windsor Hills has all the amenities of a 5 star hotel or resort, but with the comfort, convenience, and privacy of a high end home. These gorgeous homes offer twice the amenities at a small fraction of the cost of staying in a traditional theme park resort hotel room. Who wants to spend their vacation in a cramped one room hotel room when you can enjoy an incredible home in an amazing resort that is as close to Disney as many of their own properties? The most impressive feature is our location, just 5 minutes to Disney!

We usually rent a house, but for our trip to Disney later this month, I decided on Cypress Pointe Grande Villas. Windsor Hills was a close second, but CPGV (which is Phase II of the Cypress Pointe Resort - so as not to confuse you) is right in the middle of Lake Buena Vista (about a mile from Downtown Disney) and EXTREMELY convenient to everything.

we have used www.villadirect.com many times. I think they've become a little pricey lately but the homes were always exactly as their website shows. no surprises.
Stick to the neighborhoods closest to WDW:
Rolling Hills
Windsor Palms
Windsor Hills
Emerald Island
Indian Creek
Formosa Gardens

Anything else is too far away, IMHO.
Good luck, you will love the extra space and privacy. We'll never go back to a tiny hotel room again, except for US/IOA to get FOTL privileges! :cool1:

We have stayed at a couple of condos and have res. for Dec 16-23 at condo at Villas at Somerset right off of 192 and it is only a 5-10 minute drive to WDW. We are paying $512 for the week. :thumbsup2 www.vacationhomerentals.com , the property # is 467, :sunny: there are a bunch of others too :cool1: . But we like this property the best :goodvibes , and the area is great and you are right off of 192, and there is a gameroom, pool, hot tub, playgroud, tennis courts and everything else. The propertys are great and everything at the condo is great and with family 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms are great help :rotfl: , and you can cook at night and have breakfast before you go to the parks. A great money saver :thumbsup2 .
Any other question just ask. Hope this helps.

You can try www.indiancreekflorida.com as well they are home in just Indian Creek.
Which have great screened in pools and spas on most of them!

I don't see any prices on this website. Any ideas as to price-range for a 4 bedroom house? I'm used to finding 3-4 bedroom townhomes at Windsor Palms & Emerals Island for under $100 a night and didn't know if a home at Indian Creek might be comparable.

Well a 3 or 4 bedroom home will probably be more than $100.00 per night depending on what time of year you travel. You can send a general enquiry on the site or look for a specific home and enquire about the home to get a price.
